The bet

Chapter 5

The Dablize five-star hotel was filled with expensive cars. Billionaires and celebrities came out of these cars, leaving everything they were doing to honour the invitation of the richest company in Anatolia.

Everyone was eagerly waiting for the announcement of the new president of the steel group and potential chairman of the board. But the majority guessed it would be no other person than Damien Cassano, the son of Mrs. Steel and Eliandro Cassano.

They had the impression that he was the first son of the family, unaware of the family's hidden secrets.

After getting out of the taxi, Dimitri walked towards the entrance of the Dablize five star hotel, only to be stopped by the gatekeeper.

"What are you doing here, young man? This place is not for beggars, so get out. " The gatekeeper said with a frown on his face.

"What do you mean by that? I was invited to this party" Dimitri said, irritated by how the gatekeeper looked down on him.

The gatekeeper scanned him from head to toe as if he was checking out if Dimitri was really worth an invitation to this prestigious party.

"If you were actually invited, then show me your invitation card" The gatekeeper said, knowing fully well that Dimitri was not with any invitation

Dimitri looked at him a little confused "I didn't know I needed an invitation to be allowed to attend the party" He said worriedly as Mr Aaron never told him about any invitation.

"Young man, do you think we are joking here? See how haggard you look, even the waiters are far better than you, do you really think a man like you is qualified to be in a party like this? If you don't have an invitation, you can't enter the hotel" The gatekeeper said with a voice of finality

Dimitri clenched his fist in anger. What makes him different from the other person's who were granted free entrance into the hotel? He asked himself in astonishment

"But I…… " Dimitri said, trying to protest further but he was interrupted by a voice from behind

"Is no one going to attend to us?" A familiar voice sounded from behind interrupting Dimitri. He turned around only to be right in front of the last person he wanted to see right now, Lyda.

"Wow, what an unpleasant surprise, Dimitri" Lyda said, mockingly

"What are you doing here Lyda?" Dimitri said, as he looked at her in shock. He wondered why Mr. Aaron never informed him that she was also invited

She was dressed in a blue sequins gown and just like he expected she came with a young man dressed in an expensive suit which he assumed was his replacement

"Why ask me that senseless question Dimitri? I should be the one asking you that, because we both know that your kind is not qualified to be In an expensive and prestigious party as this one." Lyda blurted out harshly

Anger rose in the inside of him but he fought to control himself. He tried to walk away from them but her words stopped him.

"You haven't changed a bit Dimitri, you still have the habit of running from situations that you can't handle instead of you to do what you know how to do best, begging" Lyda said mockingly with an air of anger in her voice

Deep down she felt that something changed about him, his calm demeanour, his ability to control his emotions and his athletic look all made him look like a different person.

Somehow she wanted to meet him in a different situation, where he would look so wretched but this scenario was nothing like she imagined, which infuriated her.

"You know, I have quite an influence around here, I'm a close friend of Mr Jeffson, Mr Aaron's assistant and I can speak to him for you so you can be allowed to attend the party if you so desire to do that, all you have to do is apologise to my fiancée for the imperfection you caused to her life for three years" Lyda's boyfriend said arrogantly

Dimitri raised his eyebrow in bewilderment as he looked at him, a little puzzled "I'm sorry, who are you?" He asked

It was clear that he had more wealth and influence than the man Lyda picked to replace him, which he saw as her first mistake because he was going to use it against her.

"I'm Raymond Stevens, the heir of Stevens group and the first son of the Steven's" Raymond said with pride and arrogance, unaware of what his blabber mouth would cost him soon.

"So, what is it going to be Dimitri? Are you ready to apologise so you can be granted an entrance into your dream party? Or you get driven away just like old times" Lyda said, rolling her eyes at him.

He smirked, as he looked at the both of them in amazement, if only they knew who he was, if only they knew that this party was organised just for him, then they wouldn't have the guts to blurt out nonsense from the gutter they call a mouth.

"I really don't have time for this, I would just call Mr Aaron and inform him of the situation here"  He said to the gatekeeper ignoring Lyda and her boyfriend.

"You really haven't changed Dimitri, you're still so full of shit, so you think we'd believe that you actually have Mr Aaron's number? Do you even know who he is?" Lyda said, laughing hilariously as Raymond and the gateman joined in the laughing tournament

"You're just afraid that I'd have a number that your fiance isn't capable of having. Why don't we take a bet? If I really have his number and he comes over here, Lyda would kneel down and beg me, but if I lied about having Mr Aaron's number, I'd do the same" Dimitri said with a smirk.

"We're in" Raymond and Lyda said in unison

Dimitri walked ahead and dialled a number and a few seconds later Mr Aaron's voice sounded from the other line "Good day young master"

"I want you at the entrance of the hotel immediately, and I think you would need to capture a little scene," Dimitri said with an evil grin on his face.
