Stepping out into the air, the blue and red light of a siren from a police vehicle reflected on his face.
Two policemen stepped down, approaching his direction. Before Kane could say a word, Badmus' deep and hoarse voice came from behind. “That is the bastard who raised his filthy hands on me. Arrest him!" He barked. Kane turned to see Abigail standing at Badmus back like he was now her guardian angel. Her hand wrapped around his waist like an octopus who narrowly captured a prey he's not ready to let go. She stared at him like he's the most disgusting thing on earth. “Prepare to have a divorce paper when I'm out.” He simply said as the police were cuffing his wrist. He didn't resist. He was insanely calm and that alone made Juliana's body itch. She had expected him to shout, fall on his knee and start pleading with Badmus but..he looks different– a shift she couldn't comprehend. Not yet. She sneered. “Come out? You're going to rot in jail Kane. You better plead for your life now. And do you think I'm going to cry because you merely threaten me with divorce..” She dropped her hand from Badmus waist and stepped to the side. “Like ohh...Kane.. please don't leave me.” She displayed dramatically and laughed, clapping her hands in sheer amusement. Kane was only watching her. He didn't blink. “You must be hallucinating or you're being delusional if you think I'll ever beg you. You're not worth it. You've made my life miserable enough.” She spat. Kane didn't respond. He smiled, just faintly and nodded his head like a professor who is about to grade an outstanding student script. “Alight then.” He said curtly. “What are you waiting for?! Take this idiot away from here!" Badmus spat. Kane was escorted to their vehicle. "Move!" One of the police officers barked, pushing him to move faster. Kane paused and turned to him sharply, his eyes darkened with rage. The fierceness of his eyes was like that of the king of the jungle. It scared the wit out of the officer who nudged him. He took a step closer “If you ever lay your hand on me again. I swear I'll kill you." He stated firmly, his eyes locked on the officer who trembled slightly under his menacing gaze. Kane walked without the officer touching him again. One of them opened the door for him and he stepped into the car calmly. Inside the vehicle was thick with quietness. Only the soft grumble of the engine filled the available air in the vehicle. Tension rose in the heart of the two officers. Never have they arrested an offender and he stays calm like this man, Kane who sat in between them. They occasionally steal glances at him and at each other, wondering if Kane had suddenly gone dumb. “You both can do yourself the favor and set me free. It's for your own good.” Kane's voice came calmly but it carries the tone of a mighty king. It startled the two officers slightly. “What do you mean?" One of them, the one who pushed Kane earlier, said with a slight trembling voice, staring at him. He glanced at his second, briefly. Kane didn't speak again. He leaned his back on the backrest of the seat and gently crossed his leg. They were surprised. They arrested an offender and they're the one getting scared instead. The other officer glared at Kane. "I know your kind. You're one of those pigheaded criminals who are too full of themselves but you're dead. You'll rot in jail except if Mr. Badmus gives the order for us to release you.” He said flatly. “We shall see.” Kane said bluntly, tapping his finger gently on his crossed leg. Getting to the station, Kane walked inside, led by one of the officers into the investigation room. He relaxed on the seat like he owns the station, his legs crossed while his hands rested gently on his lap. In front of him is a long polished desk which caught the soft light glowing from the ceiling. The door of the room veered open. In walked a man in a crisp black suit. A badge on his chest displayed his name; Detective Frank. He sat across the desk and laid the file in his hand on the table. He stared at Kane for some time before he leaned forward and flipped the file open. He scanned it sharply. "Kane Everest?" He looked at him, waiting for a response but Kane didn't breathe a word. Frank pens frowned, his expression stiffened with anger. “Are you deaf!?!" He barked. Kane scoffed and dropped his leg. “Can I have my phone?" He said calmly. Frank gritted his teeth, anger swirling within. Kane's immense calmness seems to be searing his skin. “I'm not–” “You dare not, officer.” Kane cut him off. “I'm sure you still want to stay longer in this job. And I'm also sure you have families to feed with it. I know my rights, so can I have my phone?" Frank's anger flared but he clenched his fist and swore under his breath. “I'm going to deal with this cocky scoundrel later.” Kane's phone had been collected earlier so he gave him back. He tapped on the phone the number of the contact card James Voss, the butler of the Everest family gave to him earlier. Frank pens scoffed and muttered. "Your lawyer can't save you from this mess.” Kane heard him but he didn't raise his head. He finally raised his head and placed the phone on his ear. “Hello, it's Kane. I have been arrested...the police station downtown.” He simply said and dropped the call. It was more like a threat than a call of redemption. “You think this is some kind of joke?!” Frank flared and quickly flipped the file open. "You have been accused of R*pe, fraud, physical and verbal assault, scam, and bribery! And you're here feeling like you did nothing?! You're done! Your jail term won't be measured!” Kane raised a brow as the man kept counting offences he didn't commit. Badmus Kenneth really is desperate to see his life finished in jail. "And where are your evidences?” Kane asked calmly. “Are you talking back to me? Are you mad?!" Frank shot up from his seat, banging his fist on the desk. The file rattled down to the floor. Kane scoffed, amused by the way his exhibition. "You think this is funny huh?!" Frank raised his hand sharply to strike Kane in the face. The door swung open at that moment and the chief of police ran inside, panting and sweating. “What!! What do you think you're doing!? Are you mad!? Do you know who he is!?" Parrr!! Slaps. Who was slapped?
