After the little confrontation with the monsters, the rest of our journey went without a hitch, and we safely reached the borders, where the Slayers inspected us properly with our identification cards and asked a few questions about the situation in Delvon, before they allowed us to enter the city.

Usually this much checking wasn't necessary, but due to the monsters attack, the security had to be tight around the corner and no unidentified person was allowed to cross the borders.

Arriving at the Loran City safely, we first booked a hotel suite and rested for a bit.

The Hotel suite had two separate bedrooms, divided by a bathroom and living room in the middle.

But just as we all relaxed and thought that everything was finally over, the thing that I was most anticipating about, finally happened.

" NOAH! quickly come here, something's happening to mother "

Sylvia suddenly came running towards my bedroom while shouting out in a worried voice.

" Calm down! what happened? " Getting up from the bed I asked Sylvia, but instead of replying, she just pulled me by my hand and took me to her room, where aunt Alice was lying down on the bed.

" Mother's Injury on the neck is not healing even after drinking all the healing potions, and the area around the injury is turning green "

Sylvia carefully removed the dress from aunt Alice's shoulder and showed me the injury.

I furrowed my eyebrows and after carefully checking the injury, I could see that the greening of the skin was just like the [ Yacuruna ] infection.

" Your mother is infected by [ Yacuruna ]. Usually this would have been cured with a healing potion but due to your mother's health condition already being bad, the body wasn't able to fight with infection "

telling them about the result of my inspection, I turned towards aunt Alice and continued,

"Aunty Alice there is something important I have to say to you"

Seeing my expression Sylvia tensed up and aunt Alice looked at me curiously.

"what is it Noah?" : Sylvia asked with a trembling voice.

Putting on a 'hesitant' and 'troubled' expression I spoke

"sigh!, i really didn't want to say this, but aunt Alice according to my calculations you only have 3-4 days left to live. You're becoming a [ Yacuruna ] but your body isn't in any condition to bear the burden of transformation."

Hearing my reply Sylvia jumped up from her seat frightened, her face paled, as for aunt Alice though surprised, she didn't react much, she must have already felt about it, after all it's her body.

"what do you mean Noah ?"

Agitated, Sylvia came close to me and held my shoulders, I could see the fear and worry in her eye's

"No need to over react Sylvia, Noah is speaking the truth, i can feel it."

Hearing Alice's words Sylvia began to tear up, and without saying anything she ran out of the room, seeing that I looked towards aunt Alice who nodded to me in confirmation, after which I ran behind Sylvia.

After waiting for a while, by lagging behind intentionally I found her, she was kneeling down near the washroom and crying her eyes out.

I approached her, coming close to her I put a hand on her shoulders, as I did she directly plunged into my chest and started crying, I just held her back and started consoling her.

This went on for about 10 minutes where she cried without end, after getting hold of herself she raised her head, looked at me and asked.

" Noah what about the hospitals? They must have some cure about this, right? I don't have the money but I promise to work for you my whole life and pay you back everything. Please save my mother."

" No, they can't save her, instead the moment we show up with aunt Alice in any hospital they will immediately call the Slayers, capture aunt Alice and kill her " Revealing the harsh truth to her, i could see the shock and unbelievable look she had on her face.

" Why ? "

" Because according to their standards, aunt Alice is not a human anymore and is a half monster that they must eliminate at all cost. Hospitals don't have what it takes to save her "

Her golden eye's had tears falling down, her body was still trembling and deep sadness could be felt from her, It must be extremely hard for her to accept the reality. All her life, the place she thought was saving people would become her mother's graveyard if she entered it. What kind of cruel reality was this.

"N-Noah wo-would my mother really leave me?"

with trembling voice that leaked a bit of her feminine voice she asked.

"your mother's life force has decreased tremendously, and adding on the infection from [ Yacuruna ] she's barely holding on, unless you can find an Epic grade Elixr, there is nothing that can save your mother"

Hearing my words, more tears started to flow from her eyes. Even though she wasn't an official slayer, but after awakening into one she also researched a bit about everything and had a basic understanding of how things worked, so she knew the true value of an Epic grade Elixr.

"wh-what ca-ca-can i do, mo-mothers my whole world, i don't know what i can do without her, where would i get the Elixr, those are so rare that even a Rare grade is sold out to the richest people as soon as it appears on the market, let alone an Epic grade Elixr." She conveyed her helplessness and got anxious, i started to pat her back to calm her down.

I tightened my grip around her and made a very conflicted face, which expressed that ' I was having an inner struggle.'

"T-There is a way, I know where I can get that Elixr"

I spoke in a very low voice like I was hesitating about something and didn't even know myself if I should tell about it or not.

" Tell me, where can I get it, please Noah tell me. I will go there to get it "

As soon as Sylvia heard my words a ray of hope flashed in her eyes.

' The fish took the bait '

I thought and smiled inwardly but outside i still maintained an extremely serious face.

" You can't go there "

I said Shaking my head, I acted like it was the toughest decision of my life and every word i spoke was like a thorn in my heart and like, i was walking on burning red coal.

" Then you go there, please Noah please help me, please save my mother. "

Sylvia was already drowned in emotions and wasn't in any state to think properly. She was like a helpess women who could only beg for her mother's life.

I let her mental state detoriate a bit more until she finally said what I wanted to hear.

" Noah! help me, why aren't you speaking? please, I know that there must be many difficulties if you have to get something this precious, but please save my mother. I swear on my Mana that as long as you save my Mother I will become your Slave for the rest of my Life "

As soon as Sylvia spoke these words a chain of light flew out from Sylvia's chest and entered mine, connecting both of us before eventually disappearing.

I didn't felt anything different, but I knew that the Oath has taken place. My plan was finally executed perfectly and the nail was finally stuck to the coffin. All that left was for me to continue my act now.

Mana oath was a solemn attestation where a person calls the Divine Consciousness of Mana to make a promise and let it be the witness that one stay true to his/her words.

It was one of the harshest Oath one could take as the person who breaks their Oath are stripped from their ability to ever use mana and are left crippled for life, but in Sylvia's case it would be much worse as she would definitely die once she breaks her oath, because of her sensitivity to mana, and she must probably already knew about it.

Mana oaths can't be used casually, and can only be used with the help of special Artifacts and scrolls, but Sylvia defies all of these, because of her super-power [ Mana's child ], whose one of the features was to have a direct communication with mana in certain cases.

I suddenly stood up and shouted at Sylvia in, 'disbelief', ' surprise ' and ' anger '.

" SYLVIA! what did you do, Are you out of your mind? and how could you possibly use mana oath or even mana itself, weren't you a normal human being? " I asked her in a very angry state. My expressions were of disbelief and anger at Sylvia.

Anger at her for using such an Oath and disbelief at her ability to use mana.

" You weren't helping me, you know about the location but you aren't going there nor telling me where it is, was your friendship only amounts to this much? Then have me as your slave for my whole life, but save my mother, i beg you. Is this payment enough for you to save my mother? ".

Sylvia was out of her mind and even her voice couldn't be recognised anymore because of crying. She let out all her inner frustration and helplessness with her emotional burst.

" Do you really think of me that way ? I see "

I made an extremely shocked and sad face, I continued,

" You disappoint me Sylvia. It wasn't like i didn't want to go to that place but... Actually nevermind, you never trusted me from the start, that's why you hide everything from me, but i am different. I accepted you as my friend and i never hide anything from you. No matter what you think, I will prove to you that my friendship was real, i will show you how much you matter to me no matter the cost, i am not a liar, and i will say one thing before going, You showed me my place , you really broke my heart today.
