Chapter 5

Carson’s POV

Elena returned in the afternoon with a folder in her hands.

“Good news,” she said as she stepped into the room. “The doctor has cleared you for discharge. Your scans came back clean and I must say…you were lucky.”

I sat up on the bed. “Lucky... Right.”

She gave me a small smile and placed the folder on the side table. “I just need you to sign a few papers and confirm your information. The ID they found on you was damaged, so the administration had some trouble verifying everything.”

As she spoke, the blue screen appeared again.

[ A New Quest Has Been Issued]

[Form an intimate bond with Elena Vargas]

[Reward: 300 System Points + A Basic Charisma Boost]

[Time Limit: Only 24 Hours]

[Failure Penalty: None at current level]

I kept my face neutral while I read through it. The system was not wasting time.

Elena held out a pen. “I need your full name and current address for the records.”

I took the pen and wrote the new name without hesitation. Carson Beaumont. The letters still felt unfamiliar, but I forced them onto the page like they had always belonged to me.

She glanced at what I wrote. “Beaumont. Alright. Do you have someone coming to pick you up?”

“No,” I said. “I don’t have anyone.”

She paused, then looked at me more carefully. “No family in the city?”

“Not that I can contact right now.”

Elena closed the folder and tapped her fingers against it for a second. “I get off in about forty minutes. If you want, I can drop you somewhere. It’s on my way, and you probably shouldn’t be walking around right after being discharged.”

The screen pulsed once in the corner of my vision, as if approving the opening.

“I’d appreciate that,” I said.

She nodded. “Wait here. I’ll finish my shift and come get you.”

Forty minutes later she returned in regular clothes, dark jeans and a simple blouse, her hair loosened from the tight work style. She signed me out, handed me a small bag with the clothes I had been wearing when I arrived, and led me to the staff parking lot.

Her car was a modest sedan. I sat in the passenger seat while she started the engine.

“Where should I take you?” she asked.

I didn’t have an answer ready. The identity rewrite was still settling. I had no apartment under the new name yet, no money I could access immediately, nothing solid.

“I haven’t figured that out,” I said honestly.

Elena glanced at me, then back at the road. “You really don’t have anywhere to go?”

“Not tonight.”

She was quiet for a while as she drove. Then she said, “I have a spare room. It’s not fancy, but you can stay one night while you sort things out. Only if you want. No pressure.”

I looked at her. The system screen remained silent, waiting.

“Alright,” I said. “One night.”

Her apartment was on the third floor of a quiet building. Small living room, clean kitchen, a short hallway that led to two doors. She dropped her bag on the counter and turned to me.

“The bathroom is that way if you want to clean up. I’ll make something quick to eat.”

I nodded and went to wash my face. When I came back out, she had two plates on the small table. Simple pasta and an orange juice. We sat across from each other and ate in relative silence for a few minutes.

“You don’t talk much,” she said eventually.

“My bad. I’ve had a long week I guess.”

She gave a short laugh. “You were unconscious for most of it.”

“Before that too.”

Elena studied me over her fork. “You know, when I first walked into your room earlier, you looked different from most patients. Most people wake up confused or scared. You looked like you were already planning something.”

I met her eyes. “Maybe I was.”

The air between us shifted. She didn’t look away. I set my fork down.

“Elena.”

“Yeah?”

“Come here.”

She hesitated only a second, then stood and walked around the table. I reached for her hand and pulled her closer until she stood between my knees. My other hand settled on her waist.

“This is probably a bad idea,” she said quietly, but she didn’t step back.

“Probably,” I agreed, and kissed her.

She responded faster than I expected. Her hands went to my shoulders, then into my hair. I stood, keeping her against me, and guided her toward the hallway. We barely made it to her bedroom before clothes started coming off.

I pushed her onto the bed and followed her down. Her breathing was already uneven. I kissed her neck, her collarbone, the space between her breasts while she pulled at my shirt. When there was nothing left between us, I settled between her thighs and pushed into her in one steady motion.

Elena arched under me with a sharp intake of breath. I moved with controlled force, watching her face the entire time. Her legs wrapped around my waist. Her nails dug into my back. Every sound she made fed something hungry that had been locked away for too long.

I fucked her without rushing and without gentleness. She met every thrust. When she came, her body tightened around me and a broken moan left her throat. I followed soon after, burying myself deep as the release hit.

We stayed like that for a moment, both catching our breath.

Then the screen appeared, bright and clear.

[First Quest Has Been Completed!]

[Intimate Bond Formed With Elena Vargas]

[Reward Received: 300 System Points]

[Basic Charisma Boost Applied]

[Host Level Progress: +12%]

[Affinity with Elena Vargas has increased]

I rolled onto my back and stared at the ceiling. Elena lay beside me, one arm resting across my chest.

“That was unexpected,” she said after a while.

“Yeah,” I answered.

But inside, I was already smiling.

The system was real. The rewards were real. And this was only the first step.

I had a year, a new name, and a power no one else could see.

This time, I was going to make sure I take everything.

She was still seated, reviewing something on her tablet.“Everything went smoothly,” I said. She looked up. “It did. The coffee was actually hot this time. Small miracle.”I gave a short nod. “Is there anything else you need tonight?”Victoria studied me for a moment. “You’re not like the usual staff here. Most of them either try too hard or disappear the second the work is done. You stay exactly long enough and then leave. It’s efficient.”“I prefer a clean work done ma’am.”“Good.” She set the tablet down. “I’m attending a private dinner tomorrow evening. Small group. Strategy and investment people. One of the seats opened up. If you can get the night off, come as my plus-one. Make sure to dress properly. It’s not a hotel event.”The system reacted immediately.[ Opportunity Detected][Private corporate dinner –

Chapter 9Carson’s POVI spent the next three days learning the hotel’s rhythm. The guest relations work was mostly quiet. I moved between the lobby, the executive floors, and the private dining rooms, handling requests that never reached the front desk. Every name that came through the system I filed them away. Every company that booked meeting space I checked once.Roberts Group appeared twice more on the advance list. One was a dinner reservation for four under a subsidiary name. The other was a request for a private lounge on the top floor the following week. I made a note of both and said nothing.Dana found me near the end of my shift on the third day. She handed me a small envelope.“Updated schedule for Suite 2408,” she said. “The executive’s flight was delayed. They arrive tomorrow night instead.”I took the envelope. “Thank you.”She lingered a second longer than necessary. “You still need anything from me?”“Not right now.”She nodded and walked away. The tamed status held.

Chapter 8Carson’s POVThe next day, I woke up early, breathing in the air of the presidential suite. Do you wish to convert?]I decided to convert another two hundred points and sixty thousand dollars landed in the account a few seconds later. The total sat at one hundred and fifty thousand. It still felt strange to look at the number and know it belonged to me.A soft knock came at the door. I opened it to find Dana standing there in her staff uniform, hair packed neat with a controlled expression.“I spoke to the manager this morning,” she said. “And there’s an opening in guest relations at the junior level, but it gives you floor access, guest files, and direct contact with high-profile clients. He agreed to bring you on starting today if you want it.”“I w

Chapter 7Carson’s POVI stood by the window of the Presidential Suite holding a glass of water, looking out at the city lights. The system had given me money, a new face, and a clean name. That was only the beginning. One question I couldn’t answer was if I was standing here right now, would the real me still be with them now? I tried checking online for a Carson Robert but there was no information or some sort of clue linking to me. I’d figure that out later. Right now, the Roberts Group was still standing. My stepmother was still breathing. Lilian was still being prepared to take everything. In this timeline none of them had succeeded in killing me yet. That meant I had time to do it properly.I was not going to rush in as Carson Roberts. That name was finished. Carson Beaumont would enter their world from the side, build power they could not trace, and eventually walk into their company as someone they needed. From the inside I would cut them down piece by piece until they had no
