Logan stood on the spot looking shocked and astonished, his eyes still glued to the phone. He then robbed his eyes with his left hand, wondering if he was seeing clearly or maybe his eyes were just deceiving him.

The credit alert was still bold on his screen. “What is this?” He muttered, unsure if this was real or probably a prank.

In the past, people had complained of getting these kinds of messages, only to find out that it was all just a mere prank.

Logan went on to cross-check the bank name, and it was indeed from his bank.

“This can't be real, This is probably a prank or something”.

With this thought in mind, Logan walked into the house, his mind was still occupied.

300million dollars was no small money, it wasn't the kind of money that can be transferred into one's account by mistake.

How would anyone make such a mistake? All Logan could think of was the fact that this was a prank and he wasn't the type who fell for pranks like this.

He had other pressing issues on his mind. A prank like this was something he would never take seriously.

Inside the house, Logan walked straight to the mini fridge, which was just by the corner, one of the many items he had worked hard to buy, sacrificing his stomach in the process.

He pulled out a bottle of water and began to gulp down the content. His mouth was dry.

He wasn't sure if this thirst was due to fatigue or if it was because of the too much thinking he had indulged in these past two days.

Logan rested a little bit on the bed, he could still see the divorce paper right there. It was clear Vanessa was not yet back, he cared less anyway.

After the little rest, Logan stormed out of the house, angry at himself and his predicament. He wasn't the type to drink. But in this situation, all he wanted was to clear his mind.

There was a mini bar just on the other side of the street. Logan would have preferred to take a cab, but the last penny in his pocket was one he was saving so he could get something to eat for dinner.

So he decided to walk, his eyes holding a mix of sadness and anger.

Just then, Logan saw a fleet of cars surrounding him in a majestic way.

He frowned, his eyes wide as different thoughts skimmed through his mind. Was he about to be kidnapped?

He paused and took a step backwards as the cars came to a halt, with Logan at the centre.

A young man dressed in a fancy suit came down from the car and lowered his head in a slight bow “Young master”

Logan was beyond confused. He wondered if this man had mistook him for someone else, as if that wasn't the case. Why then would he call him young master?.

“Excuse me, sir, I think there is a mistake somewhere” Logan voiced out his thoughts. Maybe this would clear the air.

The young man smiled and took a step closer to Logan “No young master, there is no mistake. You are the right person”

Logan wasn't buying this at all. He raised his brow. “If this isn't a mistake, then why do you refer to me as, Young master.

By this time. Two other men had stepped out of the other cars, they were all putting on fancy black suits, one which, by just looking at it, reeked of money.

The man smiled and then clapped his hands. Another man, this one putting on black glasses pulled the door to the backseat open.

“Please come with us. Everything will be explained to you” the man smiled.

Logan was still confused. His earlier thought of being kidnapped was still at the back of his mind. However, he had never heard of someone getting kidnapped this way. It was too professional.

“Alright” Logan finally said. Though his eyes held confusion and discomfort “Where are we heading?”

“To see Pa Lancaster” the man smiled.

The name ‘Lancaster’ suddenly rang a bell in Logan's head, and he began to wonder where he had heard or seen that name. It was at that moment he recalled the letter he had found in his post box.

He had pushed it into his pocket without going through its content. Now Logan knew all of this was connected, so he was curious and decided to go with this young man.

Probably, he would get the answers that he seeks.

Logan got into the car, and the door was gently shut. The sound of vehicles could be heard as the fleet of cars drove into the distance.

After a while of driving, the car finally came to a halt in front of a fancy bar. The door was opened by the same man in a suit, the one with the dark glasses.

Logan stepped out. He had intended to go cool off at a local bar, which was not too far away from his house, and now he was taken to the direct opposite.

The atmosphere here was different. It was clear that this bar was only for high-class people. Drinks in this place would definitely be one which an average man would not be able to afford.

Logan couldn't help but wonder why this man had brought him here. Was he brought here to come have a drink with the man named Lancaster?.

Scanning the bar in front of him. Logan could see the well planned landscape coupled with the fancy designs on the body of the building.

Streetlights were properly arranged almost to the doorstep of the bar. This was no ordinary bar. He wondered how beautiful this place would be at night.

Logan noticed that everyone coming in and out of the bar wore fancy suits, and he hated the fact that he was the only odd one among the lot.

Leading the way was the man in a fancy suit, the one who had called him young master. The door to the bar slid open, and they stepped in with Logan following behind.

As they stepped into the bar, Logan saw that it was more than just a bar, it was more of a mini restaurant, one where rich folks came to cool off, probably when they were having a break at their various places of work.

They walked over to a fancy table at the far end. Two seats were neatly arranged with one of them already occupied.

On the occupied seat was a man who should be in his mid 60s, dressed in a white suit, his hair was fully grey, Logan wasn't sure if this was natural, due to old age or if they were dyed.

The man had a smile on his face, and he gave off a peaceful energy. He watched as the man began to pour wine into two glass cups on the table.

At once, Logan thought this should be the man he was meeting.

He needed answers, the reason he was called young master, the gold letter which he did not check. And as he thought about this, the credit alert he got earlier clicked in his head.

That wasn't a prank? Was that also a part of this, too?

Now Logan was eager to speak to this man. Was his life really about to change?

“Welcome Logan, Have a seat” the man smiled, pointing at the empty seat across from him.

After a little hesitation, Logan nodded and took his seat as the glass of wine was pushed to him. He couldn't wait to get an answer to the questions that were clawing at his mind.

Just like Logan, Damon was even ahead, because he was currently pushed back by his own clone. His sword met the clone's blade with a crack that echoed across the crimson wasteland. The force of it drove both weapons sideways as sparks scattered into the dark night. Daman didn't slow down at all, he spun low and swept his leg toward the clone's ankles. But the clone had seen this and was quick to jump back a bit. Before Damon could reset his stance, the clone was already swinging, a diagonal slash aimed straight for his throat. Seeing this, Damon threw his head back, but still felt the blade cut through the air an inch from his skin, and then he drove his elbow hard into the clone's ribs. That strike should have been enough to send the close to the ground l, but somehow it didn't do much, instead the clone shot his hand out and grabbed Damon by the shoulder, fingers digging in like iron. Then it threw him.Damon hit the ground hard, rolling across broken red rock, until he was ab

  • CHAPTER 79 : The Enemy Who Looks Like Me 2

Immediately Logan heard the scraping sound, his hand went to his pistol on instinct, but when he looked over, all he saw was a small creature poking its head out from a crack between two rocks. It was maybe the size of a large cat, with thick gray hide that looked more like armor than skin, it also had small clawed feet, and a fat, round body that looked strangely swollen compared to its thin legs.It froze when it saw Logan, dark beady eyes blinking slowly."Well," Logan muttered "Hello there."Suddenly, His stomach growled loud enough that the creature's ears twitched at the sound.Logan moved slowly and carefully not to spook it, but hunger and exhaustion made his patience short. He lunged the moment it turned to flee, catching it by the back leg before it could disappear into the rocks. It thrashed and hissed, clawing at his arm, but Logan held on until it finally went still in his grip."Sorry, buddy," he muttered. "Nothing personal."He gathered dry brush and broken bits of w

  • CHAPTER 78: The Enemy Who Looks Like Me 1

Logan's smile widened, this was because now that he was certain that the water was the answer, he knew it gave him a chance of survival. He didn't have much left. Three or four bottles, maybe less. But it was enough if he used them right. The three remaining phoenixes screamed above him, banking hard, already diving towards him. Logan suddenly turned around and broke into a run. "Okay," he muttered, scanning the terrain as he moved. "Okay, think. Don't waste it, you have to make it count."The wasteland stretched out in front of him, jagged and uneven, cut through with narrow gaps between towering crimson rocks. Some of those gaps were barely wide enough for a man to squeeze through. A twenty-foot wingspan would never fit at all. That was exactly what Logan needed. He angled toward a cluster of boulders ahead, weaving as he ran, cutting left and right, keeping his movements unpredictable. Behind him, one of the phoenixes broke from the group and dove straight for him.Logan wai

Suddenly, a shadow fell over him from the right side, seeing this, Logan spun around and fired without aiming. He was doing this with more of his instinct than actual skill, and as expected, the shots did nothing but buy him half a second. And right now, in a situation like this, half a second wasn't enough at all. Because the phoenix suddenly got relatively close and talons raked across Logan's back.“Arrgggg!” Logan screamed as pain shot through his back. A white-hot line ripped through him from his shoulder to his spine. Logan screamed even louder, and pitched forward as his momentum carried him into a hard fall. He hit the ground and rolled about three times before managing to

It clicked in Logan's mind what these birds are, but even before he could think about it one of the birds shot fire towards him. Seeing this, Logan threw himself sideways and hit the ground hard as the fire rolled over his back like an open furnace door. Logan felt it even through the gear he was wearing, he didn't wait, at all, he scrambled up and kept moving. His mind was screaming at him to check the bracelet and so he did. Tapping the bracelet while running, the screen flared to life in front of his eyes.[Name: Crimson Phoenix.][Crimson Phoenixes are highly aggressive aerial predators that possess immense physical strength, razor-sharp talons, and the ability to breathe devastating flames. They rarely hunt alone and usually attack in coordinated groups, making them especially dangerous to prey caught in open terrain.]"Phoenix," Logan muttered between breaths. "Of course. They are phoenixes"This was exactly what was on Logan's mind after seeing the first bird shoot fire towar

And that was when it moved again. This time it happened so fast that Logan barely registered it before he was already scrambling backward with his knife raised and his heart slamming in his chest. Just then, a small creature, one Logan had never seen in his entire life, shot out of the hole. “Fuck!” Logan muttered as the creature which was pale, fast and barely visible shot out and vanished almost immediately into a crack in the rocks a few feet away, gone before he could even get a good look at it.Logan stayed frozen for a second, breathing hard. Then, slowly, a grin spread across his face as this only meant one thing. "There's life here," he said out loud, laughing as relief washer over him “There is really life here” Logan could tell that, If something could live underground on this planet, that meant there is water underground somewhere. Logan wasn't a bookworm but at least in school he was taught that ju
