Lucas caught the look on Vivienne’s face and thought she might have finally believed his lie. A smirk tugged at his lips, one she didn’t notice.

“Do you believe me now, Miss Ashford? Can I take her home?” he asked smoothly. “In her drunken state, she really needs to rest.”

The careful tone in his voice felt unnatural, even to him. Lucas hated speaking that way, it wasn’t his style—but he couldn’t stop now. Not when he was this close to pulling off his plan.

Lucas was certain his men had already captured Damon. The fact that Damon hadn’t returned could only mean they had taken him far away.

That meant Damon was no longer a problem. All he needed now was for Vivienne to give in, and then he’d take Celia away as well.

“Miss Ashford?” Lucas called. That was when Vivienne snapped out of her thoughts and let out a soft chuckle.

The sound caught him off guard. He had expected her to apologize for blaming him, to finally give in and let him take Celia away. But when she laughed instead, Luca

"Do you think I should go inside with you? What if your father doesn't want me there? This is my first time coming here, and your parents don't even know I'm your girlfriend. What if they dislike me?" Serena asked Michael, feeling scared as different questions rushed through her mind."I don't know if you want to go in or not—I don't care. I don't care if they like you or not, Serena. I just want to get out of this mess. And didn't you say it yourself that we're in this together? So you shouldn't be asking me these questions because they're making me angry."Michael stepped out of the car and slammed the door shut roughly before walking inside without waiting for Serena. Her mouth fell open."Did he just leave me alone in the car as if I don't exist and slam the door in my face?" Serena mumbled, then chuckled before opening her door and stepping out."This isn't all my fault! No matter what you do, Michael, you can't place all the blame on me as if I'm the only one who planned everyth

"Ma'am, you can't go outside right now. It's dangerous—you need to understand," the security guards said, stopping Vivienne at the door as she tried to go outside to look for Eliza."No, I need to go. Move out of the way. I don't know if she's okay, and you're telling me not to go?"Vivienne had known Eliza since she was fifteen, and they had grown up as inseparable as sisters. That was why the guilt would fall squarely on Vivienne’s shoulders if anything happened to Eliza.“We’re sorry, ma’am. Please understand, we’re just doing our job. The other guards are handling everything outside, so you don’t have to worry—just stay inside where it’s safe.”But Vivienne wasn't ready to listen until a voice spoke up behind her, and she turned around almost immediately."Ma'am." The voice that had spoken up turned out to be Eliza, and Vivienne exhaled immediately when she saw her."Oh my goodness, Eliza, you had me so worried. I thought something bad had happened to you," Vivienne said, walking

Damon had just reached the ballroom doors when the first gunshot echoed through the hotel corridor behind him, quickly followed by several more.He turned around slowly, his expression calm as he watched five men approaching him, all holding weapons pointed in his direction."Well, well, look who decided to bring backup after getting their asses kicked," Damon said, his voice steady despite the guns aimed at him.The leader of the group, a tall man with a scar running down his left cheek, stepped forward with a confident smile."You thought you were so tough fighting just three of us, but now you're going to learn what happens when you mess with Lucas Sterling's people," the scarred man said."We've been waiting in the parking garage this whole time, ready to come up if our boys couldn't handle you quietly, but you had to make things difficult."Another man to his right chuckled and added, "Boss said you think you're some kind of fighter, but let's see how tough you are when you're st

"What's going on here?" The voice cut through the tension like a knife. Both Lucas and Vivienne spun around to find Edward standing behind them. He had noticed Lucas wasn’t where he was supposed to be and had come looking for him. The last thing Edward wanted was for his son to cause a scene, so he didn’t mind keeping a close watch on him throughout the evening. For the first time in Lucas’s life, despite all his father’s past warnings and threats, the ones he heard tonight truly scared him. It started when Vivienne refused to believe him and a genuine fear crawled up his spine. The possibility of his father discovering what he had been planning made his stomach churn.A knowing smile played across Vivienne's lips as she ended her call with Anthony. "Interesting," she murmured to herself. "So his father is here tonight too, yet he was still pulling this nonsense."Lucas opened his mouth but no words came out. His father stood there with that familiar stern expression, clearly assum
