Samara leaned forward, her expression serious. "Have you tried negotiating with them? Maybe you could offer them something else instead."

Jake shook his head. "No, they're demanding this. And I can't just go out there and review myself; my life will be at risk." He sighed heavily. "I don't know what to do."

Samara placed a hand on his arm. "Have you talked to the police? They might be able to help you." Jake nodded reluctantly. "I have not, but I'll do that. I feel so helpless.

Samara squeezed his arm. "You're not helpless, Jake. You're a smart and capable person. You'll figure this out." She smiled reassuringly. "Maybe you could try to find some evidence that could help the police. Or you could try to reason with the kidnappers. Anything is worth a shot."

Jake nodded, feeling a glimmer of hope. "Thanks, Samara. I appreciate your support."

Samara smiled. "Of course, Jake. I'm here for you."
