Inside an interrogation room, Diane sat opposite Detective Howard Carver, her palms growing damp with sweat as he began questioning her. She had already insisted that she knew nothing about Brianna’s disappearance, but her nervous expression and inability to remain calm seemed to suggest otherwise.

Howard studied her for a moment before opening his notebook.

“According to the information we’ve received, you were involved in the kidnapping of Ethan Lancaster, weren’t you?”
