Chapter 1
1: The Forsaken Son-in-law
A sharp slap rang through the dining room, sending Leon Ashford stumbling backward, his cheek burning from the impact.
“You useless bastard!” Gerald Hartwell, his father-in-law, spat, his face twisted in disgust. “How dare you talk back to me? You’re living under my roof, eating my food, and you think you have the right to speak?” Leon stood there with a lowered gaze, his breath heavy. He had learned long ago that resistance only led to more pain. The last time he tried, Gerald used a knife on him, and til now, the scar still remained on his right arm. His dull green eyes flickered toward his wife, Isabella Hartwell, who sat quietly with her head bowed. “Dad, please…” she murmured. “Stay out of this, Isabella!” Miranda Hartwell, Isabella’s mother, snapped. “You should be ashamed! You married this pathetic man, and look what he has done to our family name! It’s time that we let go of this burden you call a husband! Victor Marston is the perfect match for you, and you will divorce this loser and marry him!” Leon swallowed the lump in his throat, forcing himself to stay silent. As an orphan, he had nowhere to go. Back in college, Isabella had fallen for him just as he had for her, and despite Victor Marston, heir to a billionaire family, pursuing her, she chose Leon. But from the moment they married, her family had done everything to break him, stripping away his dignity, crushing his spirit until all that remained was a man who endured it all for the woman he loved. They could have left, but Isabella refused. She wasn’t willing to lose her claim to her family’s wealth, knowing it could fall into the hands of her cousins. And her parents? They would never allow that. The Hartwells weren’t among the five richest families in the city, but they were still part of the elite, respected, and influential. A maid entered the room, bowing slightly before speaking. “Victor Marston has arrived.” Gerald and Miranda’s faces lit up with delight. “Well? What are you waiting for?! Let him in!” Leon’s gaze slowly lifted as he saw Victor make his way toward the dining with a smug smile on his face. The man who had always wanted Isabella. The man who made sure Leon’s life was a living hell in college. Gerald and Miranda rose from their seats, grinning as they welcomed their guest. “Thank you for coming, Mr. Marston,” Gerald said, extending a hand. Victor chuckled as he shook it. “Come now, Father, there’s no need for such formality between us. To you, I’m simply Victor.” Gerald laughed, nodding. “My mistake, my mistake… Victor. I’m just glad you’re still interested in my daughter, even after she made the mistake of marrying that bastard standing over there,” he said as they let go of each other's hands. Victor cast Leon a condescending glance before smirking. “A worthless man like him should never have been my rival for your daughter’s hand in the first place. I still can’t fathom what Isabella was thinking when she chose him.” Isabella shot him a glare and abruptly stood. “I’m not some fool, Victor. I love Leon, and I’m not divorcing him.” “Shut up!” Miranda snapped, her eyes burning with fury. “Are you trying to bring this family to ruin? Do you realize how easily your grandfather could strip your father of his CEO position if we continue to disappoint him? Victor is the heir to Marston Enterprises, a company worth billions! If you marry him, it will not only secure our business but also elevate our family’s status. Stop being selfish!” Victor straightened his tie, his smirk widening with confidence. Tears welled in Isabella’s eyes. “I’m not being selfish, Mom… I just love Leon. Please, don’t take him from me,” she pleaded desperately. Leon stared at his wife’s back and let out a heavy sigh. But he didn't dare speak, cause he was scared. ‘I’m a nobody to these people. Maybe I should’ve never married Isabella. Maybe she would’ve been better off with Victor…’ Yet, hearing her try to defend him, he felt conflicted. This was one of the many reasons why he had fallen for her. She was the only one who had ever treated him like a person, the only one who made him feel like he had a family. Gerald’s finger jabbed in Isabella’s direction, his face contorted with anger. “This girl… What kind of poison has that trash fed you to make you turn against your own parents?! If you weren’t my only child, I’d have called you nothing but a disgrace!” He turned to Victor and forced a smile. “Don’t mind her. She’ll come to her senses soon enough.” Victor’s lips curled into a bitter smile as his gaze flickered between Leon and Isabella. “I highly doubt that.” Then, with a smirk, he turned to Leon. “Leon, I need something. Why don’t you go get it for me?” Leon blinked, taken aback. “S-something?” he stammered. “What do you need?” Victor slid his hands into his pockets, his voice casual but firm. “There’s a shop at 115th Drive on Wale Street. I left something there. When you get there, you’ll know what it is. Bring it back for me.” Isabella turned to Leon, shaking her head, silently pleading with him not to go anywhere. But the moment Leon saw Gerard’s sharp gaze that could cut through anything, he felt his resolve crumble. “…Okay,” he murmured. “I’ll go now.” Tears welled in Isabella’s eyes as she watched him walk away. Leon arrived at Wale Street and walked toward 115th Drive, scanning his surroundings for a mall or a shop that might hold what Victor had sent him for. Though it was still afternoon, the sky had darkened, heavy clouds casting shadows over the city, signaling an approaching storm. Leon was confused. This didn’t seem like the kind of place Victor would frequent. The shops lining the street were small and ordinary, the kind Leon himself might visit, not someone from a wealthy family like Victor. Still, he stopped at each store, asking if anyone had left something behind. Each time, he was met with the same response—shaken heads and puzzled looks. After nearly 45 minutes of searching, he became exhausted. He didn’t even have Victor’s number to call for clarification. “Shouldn’t he have called me by now?” Leon suddenly wondered with furrowed brows. As he pondered, a sudden sharp pain exploded in the back of his head. His vision swam as he stumbled forward. Hands grabbed him. Too many hands. Someone had hit him from behind. More fists came. His ribs screamed in pain as blows rained down on him. He tried to fight back, but he was outnumbered. Four, maybe five men, all dressed in black, dragging him toward a van. “Sleep tight, loser,” Victor’s voice was the last thing he heard before something crashed into his skull and the world went black.Expand

From Humiliation to Godhood 148 Scorchfield
“I told you to keep your eyes on Zane Jones,” Jarvis said with a measured tone edged with intensity. “I’m extremely curious about that town. There’s something about it that doesn’t sit right with me.”Kane nodded in agreement. “You’re not wrong, Mr. Grave. Scorchfield is… unsettling. My men said it’s hard to stay there for long. The atmosphere alone feels wrong. As for Zane…” he paused briefly, then continued, “he’s dead.”Jarvis froze. “Dead?”“Yes,” Kane confirmed. “Unfortunately, we don’t know how it happened. All we could uncover is that he was hiding from someone… or something.”Jarvis leaned back into his chair, his brows knitting together as his thoughts spiraled. “Scorchfield,” he murmured. “A lawless town beyond order. I can’t even begin to imagine the kind of secrets buried in a place like that.” He straightened slightly and looked at Kane. “Proceed carefully. Be subtle. I have a feeling whatever is hidden there is dangerous… something beyond ordinary human understanding.”

From Humiliation to Godhood 147: Lesson learned
The next day, Alanah left Leon’s home without informing him. When Leon eventually noticed her absence, he immediately instructed someone to make sure she arrived safely on her journey back home. After that, he prepared himself and headed straight to Diane’s residence. When he arrived, he knocked softly on the door.Inside, Diane was already fully dressed and ready to leave for her plans with Sophia, plans she needed to carry out quickly since time was not on her side.“Didn’t you hear a car pull up?” Donald Lancaster asked as he walked over to the window. A moment later, he frowned slightly. “That’s a black Rolls Royce… Diane?”Another knock sounded, drawing everyone’s attention back to the door.“It looks like you have a visitor, Diane,” Abigail said excitedly. “I bet it’s Leon.”Diane blinked, her mind flashing back to her last meeting with Leon, him offering her the keys to a new house, and her turning him down. She hadn’t told her parents a single word about that encounter. She si

“I do love you, Isabella,” he murmured to himself, eyes fixed on her as she stood waiting for her driver, completely unaware that she was being watched. “But not enough. You were never more than a prize to be taken… and I don’t lose what I’ve claimed so easily.”A bitter chuckle slipped from his lips. “Isabella, Isabella… you’re lucky you’re not the one I’m checking off my list tonight.”Moments later, her driver arrived. She stepped into the car, the door closed, and the vehicle pulled away, disappearing down the street.Victor let out a slow breath and turned his gaze elsewhere, remaining where he was.Less than thirty minutes passed before the person he had been waiting for finally appeared. A low chuckle escaped him as he stepped out from the corner where he had kept himself hidden.“Hey, Julian.”Julian rolled his eyes at the sound of the familiar voice and turned toward him. “You’re still here,” he said flatly, irritation clear in his tone.Victor walked closer, nodding once. “Y

“Oh, that’s good,” Julian Hayes said into his phone, nodding once in clear satisfaction before ending the call. The private suite was dimly lit, washed in warm amber light that reflected off glass walls overlooking the city below. Leather couches curved around a low marble table with half-empty bottles, crystal tumblers, and melting ice.Brianna was curled comfortably against Julian on the couch, one leg draped over his lap as she traced lazy circles on his arm. “What was that about?” she asked, tilting her head up to look at him.Julian’s expression darkened slightly as he set his phone down. “Victor.”Isabella, seated across from them with a glass of sparkling water in hand, stiffened. Her eyes widened almost imperceptibly. “Victor?” she repeated. “Why? Oh God, don’t tell me he’s still in the group chat.”Julian let out a short scoff as he leaned forward to grab a beer from the ice bucket beside the table. He popped it open. “Of course he is. That’s the whole point. Let him watch.

From Humiliation to Godhood 145: Checking off the list 1
It was late in the evening… Victor Marston arrived at Empire, the upscale bar he used to treat like his personal playground back when he still had money, status, and a last name that commanded respect. This was the meeting spot he saw in the group chat, and he knew the guys were already upstairs in one of the VIP rooms. He straightened his shoulders and walked inside, trying to act like nothing had changed But the second he stepped in, eyes turned because they all knew him. Two girls near the bar whispered behind their glasses. “That’s Victor Marston, right?” “Mm-hmm. The one who used to throw drinks at waiters?” “Did you see the news? His family went bankrupt in just hours all thanks to Azrael.” “Good for him. Karma always loops back.” Victor felt the sting of their voices but kept walking, jaw tight. A group of guys spotted him next and one nudged another. “Yo, isn’t that the idiot who tried to get the bouncer fired last year?” “Let him try that now. Hey, I'm pretty sure

“Subordinates?” Vance repeated, a displeased frown cutting across his face. “I don’t think you have the slightest idea what you’re talking about, Mr. Ash… or Azrael, whatever you claim to be.” They were currently in his private courtyard, a quiet, open-air space behind the residence. A rectangular blackstone table sat at the center of the courtyard, its surface smooth enough to mirror the half moon in the sky. Leon sat at the head of the table, relaxed against the chair while Vance sat opposite him with Levi and Harry standing tall behind him. “I’m not being… ridiculous here, Mr Calenne,” Leon said calmly. “And I know exactly what I’m talking about.” Vance exhaled slowly and shook his head. “No, you don’t. I am an Olyndra ambassador on official mission here in Velmaria. That is the extent of my mandate.” Leon bobbed his head in understanding, unfazed by his attitude. “Exactly why I want you to work for me instead.” Levi and Harry exchanged a quick glance, both intrigued. Vance

I am loving this rags to riches to godhood book. I am finding it's written very well both grammatically and in spelling. I think the author is doing a great job
MartAlicia Reinen
Chapters 86, 107 and 108 are the same; they are repeated chapters. The book is really good but the repetition is not great for me as a reader.
MartAlicia Reinen
This is very disappointing, chapters 115 through 117 are the same chapters. Why are you repeating them. We get charged for reading the same chapters ...
Sylwyn
Seriously, you uploaded a new chapter and it was the same chapter as the last ones.
