Thomas glanced at Tedmond with a confused look on his face as soon as the question left his lips.

Seeing Thomas silent, Tedmond raised his head to look at him, only to be met with a confused and curious stare. Thomas looked at him like he had just asked something he wasn’t supposed to.

“Why are you looking at me like that?” Tedmond asked in confusion.

“Did you want to go to the company since they’re there to ask for your hand in marriage?” Thomas replied with a question. “Do you know it’s insulting for them to think about that, let alone approach you like that?”

Tedmond’s confused expression turned into one of fear as he looked at Thomas. The beaming look was gone from Thomas’s face, and he looked really pissed—his eyes dark, and his brows twitching in anger.

“How dare they try to propose to you in the first place?” Thomas asked. “Did you give off the vibe that you might be interested in their daughter? How dare they think that she is good enough for you? Is that how much they look do

“You don’t need to go to the company in person,” Thomas said, standing in front of Tedmond, who was crouched in front of Bianca at the front door. “Lora can handle everything properly.”Tedmond, already dressed for work in a tailored suit and polished shoes, exuded elegance. His slicked-back hair completed his model-like appearance.Raising his head to look at Thomas, Tedmond offered a small smile. “I know that, but I need to hear about the GNN incident in person. It’s better for me to handle it myself.”He had received a message from GNN clarifying the rumors, but he wasn’t sure how the situation had been resolved and wanted to confirm it himself. Not only that, Tedmond intended to hand over the recording he had obtained from the Griffin mansion to Duncan, letting him handle it however he wished. If he wanted to strike back at the Griffin family, he might as well let someone else do the dirty work for him.Of course, he couldn’t tell Thomas about his plans. If Thomas found out, Bianc

Duncan clasped his hands together. “We managed to get many positive comments about the company on the website, which overpowered the terrible rumors. Many mothers whose kids had worked with us also gave testimonials,” he began.“A fan of one of our voice actors helped too. She’s an influencer and made positive remarks, which created a trend that other influencers followed. This caught the attention of TV stations, which used the evidence to produce stories for newspapers and magazines.“The TV station even came to the company to investigate, bringing along a few detectives, but they found nothing. After all the investigations, we were proven ‘not guilty,’ which silenced those who had slandered us.“We were also able to get apologies from those who had spread the rumors. It made me wonder why they believed such claims in the first place. The evidence provided by the source wasn’t all that convincing. I suppose the source had enough persuasive skills to pull it off.”Tedmond nodded in a

In the office, Tedmond sighed as he removed his jacket and placed it on the back of his chair before sitting down. His gaze lingered on the door he had just walked through. He still couldn’t fathom why they had the audacity to wait for him outside the company as if they were close acquaintances.Thomas’s words echoed in his mind: “Did you give off the vibe that you might be interested in their daughter?”“Give off the vibe that I’m interested in their daughter?” Tedmond muttered, arching a brow.He reflected on every interaction he’d had with Mr. Washington and his family. He hadn’t done anything to suggest interest in their daughter. So why were they being so persistent?“Did you forget how crazy they are, Tedmond?” he asked himself aloud. It might not make sense to normal people, but the Griffins believed they could get whatever they wanted if they set their minds to it. He groaned. He needed to deal with them quickly and ensure they never got access to Xinca again. They had caused e

"Low family like yours?" The words echoed in the minds of both father and daughter."How dare you call my family a low family?" Harold demanded. "Do you know what the Griffin family has achieved?"Lora shook her head. "Nope. I have no idea what the Griffin family has achieved because, as far as I know, they haven't achieved anything."Her tone was more polite than any other words she'd said, and the fact that it wasn’t sarcasm drove Maxine crazy.Maxine stepped closer to Lora, a grin on her face. Without warning, she jabbed her finger into Lora's chest."You must have heard the news. I’m dating your boss, and as long as we’re together, I am above you," Maxine declared confidently, her voice devoid of hesitation.Lora's jaw tightened. She couldn’t believe it. The rumors had only just begun to spread, and now Maxine was claiming authority over someone who had managed Xinca for years before the real president arrived."I don’t know if you lack manners or if you’re just dumb," Lora replie

Tedmond’s brows arched as soon as the words left her lips. She had an innocent look on her face, her smile curling at the edges of her lips. He couldn’t understand why she would be smiling in such a situation.“Are you always this clumsy?” Tedmond asked. She nodded. “I tend to struggle with controlling my body. It’s more like a medical condition—it was mentioned in my résumé,” she replied, rising to her feet and gathering the scattered files again. This time, it took her less than ten seconds to collect them.‘A medical condition?’ Tedmond thought. If that were true, her skills must be exceptional for the company to have retained her despite the condition. As long as she stayed seated and focused on her work, nothing could hinder her performance.Yet, he couldn’t understand why Lora had recommended her as his support. He also noticed that she had referred to Lora informally earlier, and he couldn’t help but ask.“You referred to Lora informally,” Tedmond said. “Are…”“Oh.” Isabella ga

A loud thud resonated in the hallway, startling Persis and Lora. They both snapped their heads toward the source of the noise, and Persis' eyes widened in shock. Standing in the hallway were Tedmond and Isabella.Tedmond was holding Isabella by the waist from behind, stopping her from falling, while a tablet lay on the floor—the apparent source of the noise. Their position was awkward for everyone present.Ten minutes prior:“You’re all stitched up,” Tedmond said, peering at the woman sitting in the chair in the infirmary. The nurse, still in the room, had just finished tending to Isabella’s injury. She wore a curious expression, wondering why the president himself had brought Isabella to the infirmary.“I heard he has a lover. I don’t think Isabella is the one,” the nurse thought.“Thanks for bringing me here, Mr. Washington,” Isabella muttered. “I thought I might bleed for a long time before getting here.”“It was nothing,” Tedmond replied. After she had fallen, he had gone back to

As soon as Isabella and Lora were out of sight, Tedmond turned his gaze to Persis. She was pouting, her expression accusatory as she stared at him.“What?” Tedmond asked, confused by her reaction.“What do you mean, what?” she snapped. “My fiancé was holding another woman by the waist, and you expect me to stay quiet about it?”Tedmond raised his brows. “We’re technically fake, though,” he countered without thinking. The words hit her hard, and she glared at him. She knew their engagement wasn’t real, but he didn’t have to rub it in her face. Her glare intensified.“It isn’t technically fake. It’s temporary. Since we’re having an engagement party, it can’t be called fake,” she retorted firmly. He studied her face, trying to read her expression, but all he could see was the deep frown etched on her features. He didn’t understand why she seemed so invested in their act. It felt as though she wanted the engagement to be real—after all, she’d been the one to propose to him first.“Fine. L

"I don’t listen to gossip," the receptionist cut Maxine off, her tone cool and dismissive.Hearing the receptionist talk to her like she didn’t matter, Maxine finally lost it. She glared at the woman, realizing her lies didn’t seem to have any effect."Even if you don’t listen to the rumors about me and your boss, you should at least acknowledge them while I’m standing here," Maxine snapped, her glare intensifying. "What made you think you can treat your president’s lover like this?"The receptionist raised an eyebrow, confusion flickering across her face. Then she shook her head. "Do you have an appointment to meet with the president? Or did the vice president stop you and think I could help you?"Maxine flinched at the remark, and the receptionist smirked."What do you mean?" Maxine demanded, awkwardly. "Why would the president stop me? Hmph. Never mind. It’s not like you could do anything."With that, Maxine turned to leave but paused and returned to the receptionist’s desk. "What’

Silence.Lisa’s words echoed through the room like a gunshot. No one spoke. No one moved.Even the ticking wall clock seemed to hesitate, as if it, too, was stunned.Max rose from his seat and shot Lisa a glare. “What do you mean, Aunt Adeline must have given the documents to Tedmond on purpose?!”Lisa didn’t flinch. Her voice remained calm, but her eyes held a quiet boldness.“I said what I meant. Who else could’ve done it? Aunt Adeline was the one who prepared the documents. Is there any other explanation when the evidence is staring us in the face?”Evelyn’s face darkened. “That’s a serious accusation.”Lisa turned to her. “Is it? Then how do you explain how Tedmond ended up with all the assets if Adeline wasn’t involved?”Max slammed his hand against the back of the chair. “You think she betrayed us? That she wanted him to have everything?”Lisa didn’t look away. “I think she chose him. Maybe not out of love or loyalty—maybe out of guilt. Or maybe she believed he deserved it more

At Maxine’s outburst, everyone turned to look at her. She looked like she wanted to punch someone, but hadn’t found the right person yet.“If we don’t think of something fast, Tedmond is going to keep the assets forever,” she said sharply.Harold shrugged and spoke before anyone else could. “What do you mean before he gets the assets? He already has them in his name. It’s over. We lost.”“You sound like you’re happy about it,” Gerald snapped, his voice rough with exhaustion.Harold gave him a smug look. “Happy? I’m not. I’m just being realistic. Unlike you, I didn’t spend the last two nights crying over a signature.”Of course, he would be happy. Not because one of his sons had inherited something that massive, but because it was Tedmond.Just looking at his father, Max could tell he was pleased—and that pissed him off. Not because Harold was happy, but because Tedmond was the one who made him proud. Before Max could say anything, his mother beat him to it.“You think this is funny?”

"He killed her, and his family covered it up," the lawyer continued bitterly. "They even said her death worked in their favor—that it saved them the trouble."Oscar glanced at the man, studying the expression on his face—grief twisted with anger. He had always known Otis could be cruel, but he hadn't expected him to go that far. He never imagined things would spiral this badly.“What are you going to do now?” Oscar asked quietly. “I don’t know much about you… I haven’t used your services before.”The lawyer turned to him. For a moment, he said nothing. Then, a thin, cold smile crept across his face.“Right,” he said. “Let me introduce myself. I’m Benedict Hall.”Oscar blinked. He couldn’t believe he had never even known the lawyer’s name.“I’m the family’s retainer. I’ve handled estate filings, minor disputes, and contracts.”Oscar raised a brow. “Are you still going to work for the family?”Benedict hesitated before giving a slow nod. “Yes. I suppose that’s something I have to keep d

Oscar nodded.“Those bastards,” she muttered under her breath. “All of this happened because Otis was stupid enough to get himself that badly injured just to get back at Tedmond—and it didn’t even work. Why are they ganging up on me? If I hadn’t done what I did, Otis wouldn’t even be alive.”“Well, I was the one who prepared the documents,” Adeline continued, waving her hand dismissively. “If I hadn’t prepared them, that bastard wouldn’t have donated his blood. But I had no idea the documents were valid.”She dropped her fork and groaned.“The document shouldn’t have been valid if Otis didn’t sign it,” she added. “We even took the copy that was handed to him while he was unconscious and destroyed it. There’s no way he could have gotten all of Otis’s assets. And the lawyer told me the document can’t be used legally.”At the mention of the lawyer, Oscar’s brows rose. “The lawyer said that?”Adeline nodded. “Yes. He was the one who drafted the document to fool Tedmond.”“I see,” Oscar re

Adeline paced back and forth in her room, her fingers pressed against her lips as she tried to think. So far, she hadn’t come up with a single idea.“It was all his fault!” she yelled, running a hand through her hair, her face twisted in fury. Her room was a disaster—just like her mind.Pillows were strewn across the floor, the bedsheets half-hanging as if yanked in a fit of rage. One of the dresser drawers had been pulled out and tossed aside, its contents—scarves, papers, and makeup—spilled and trampled underfoot. A long crack ran across the mirror above the vanity, a reminder of the moment she had flung a bottle at it.Clothes clung limply to the edges of chairs, the wardrobe doors flung open, one hanging precariously by a hinge. Books lay scattered against the wall, their spines bent, pages torn. The once-scented candles were now just puddles of broken wax on her desk. She stepped over a shattered perfume bottle, its sharp scent still lingering in the air—mixing with the bitterne

Otis's breath caught in his throat. The very sight of Tedmond standing in the doorway—calm, composed, and eerily confident—made his blood boil.“What the hell are you doing here?” Otis barked, yanking the sheets off his legs like he intended to get out of bed.“There’s no need to get up,” Tedmond said before Otis could move further. “I just came to check up on you, since I happened to be so kind and thoughtful.”Hearing that, Otis couldn’t help but feel livid. He had already seen the article, had heard others call Tedmond ‘thoughtful and kind’—but hearing it straight from Tedmond’s mouth made his skin crawl.“What the heck happened?!” Otis demanded. “Did you get them to write that article just to frame me?!”“What do you mean me framing you?” Tedmond asked, arching a brow.He paused for a moment, thoughtful. He had assumed Otis must’ve seen the news—the countless notifications about losing everything. But it seemed Otis hadn’t.After waking up hours earlier, Tedmond had already finali

The thought of Tedmond being punished brought a satisfied smile to Otis's face. As long as he was still Otis, the family would care for him and make sure he was well taken care of while he was unconscious.‘Tedmond must’ve been tied up and kept in custody—just in case I woke up. Then I’d decide what to do with him,’ Otis thought, lips curling into a smirk.Growing impatient, he glanced toward the door, wondering what was taking so long. Even the nurse who went to fetch the doctor hadn’t returned yet. He was starting to worry.‘Maybe I’m still dreaming,’ he thought.Just then, the door opened, and the doctor walked in. It was Dr. Richie, wearing a serious expression.Seeing him, Otis relaxed. Richie was their family doctor—someone he trusted. There was no need to worry.“How long was I asleep?” Otis asked.“Forty-eight hours,” Dr. Richie replied, walking over to check on him.“Forty-eight hours?!” Otis yelled, stunned. Two whole days. It felt like much longer. Hearing it had only been

Even though Tedmond had looked strong earlier when he was discharged from the hospital, the moment his body hit the bed, he couldn’t deny how exhausted he was.He would have fallen asleep right away if not for the fact that he still had to eat—otherwise, Persis would wake him up before he got any real rest. So, he lay in bed, staring up at the ceiling. As soon as he closed his eyes and opened them again, everything around him blurred. His limbs felt heavy, and a strange chill ran through his body. The last thing he remembered was the sound of his own heartbeat—faint and sluggish. He had donated three full bags of blood—far more than any normal person should.Though he hadn’t said it out loud, just standing up earlier had taken sheer willpower. His body was running on empty. But still, he couldn’t understand why he felt that weak. The doctor had said he had more blood than the average person, and even if that wasn’t true, it still didn’t explain the overwhelming weakness.Unless... som

Before Tedmond left, he stopped by Otis’s ward—and to his surprise, none of the family members were there. He had thought they all cared about Otis, which was why they had ganged up on him. But it turned out they didn’t care about Otis at all. They probably just wanted to keep him alive for their own reasons.Standing at the doorway, Tedmond looked in and saw Otis lying on the bed, the blood transfusion steadily flowing into his veins. His frown deepened. Not only had Otis harmed him to get him in trouble with the relatives, but he had also ended up receiving his blood. The memory made Tedmond feel irritated all over again. However, on second thought, he felt a bit better. He had managed to take a small dose of revenge on Otis. Once everything in Otis's name was transferred to him, Tedmond doubted the family would have any use for Otis anymore.Just then, Tedmond recalled the seal on the document. Adeline wasn’t the type to make a mistake, especially not by stamping a forged document.
