Tedmond hummed in response, loosening his tie as he climbed the stairs.

Thomas was stunned that Tedmond had met Mr. Cain. He had checked the guest list and was certain he hadn’t seen Mr. Cain’s name on it. Then it suddenly hit him—Mr. Cain must have intentionally added his name at the last minute.

Sneaky man, Thomas thought, a frown crossing his face.

Picking up his pace behind Tedmond, he pressed further. “And? What did he say?”

They had both forgotten about the guest who had returned with Tedmond. Persis groaned as she walked in alone, rolling her eyes.

“Thanks for welcoming me,” she said, throwing her hands in the air.

But Thomas wasn’t paying attention. He was still fixated on Tedmond. “Did he say anything serious to you?” he asked again, still following closely.

At the top of the staircase, Tedmond finally stopped and turned to look at him. “Nothing much,” he replied.

He didn’t understand why Thomas was so curious about his conversation with Mr. Cain. Surely, Thomas already knew

As soon as she finished speaking, Bianca closed her eyes and drifted back to sleep.A frown crossed Tedmond’s face but disappeared almost immediately. He didn’t want Bianca to wake up and see his expression."Sleep tight," Tedmond murmured, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead before turning to leave. He joined Persis near the door. She stood with her arms crossed, her sharp gaze locked on his."Does she mean Lisa, your ex-girlfriend?" Persis asked. Her tone was unreadable, and Tedmond couldn’t tell what she was thinking."She’s the one," he admitted. "I wonder what she sent to my email that Bianca read.""From the way Bianca spoke about her, it seems like they exchanged emails," Persis pointed out, her expression turning serious.Tedmond’s brows arched. He was sure Bianca had already gone to bed before he left for the party. He had no idea when she woke up and read his emails. Had she been looking for him?"Let's head out," Tedmond said, opening the door and stepping into the hallway

Tedmond already knew what Lisa wanted as he glanced at the caller ID. She was probably calling him for help with their failing business. She must have thought he would go running to her if she complained."Aren't you going to pick it up?" Persis asked, curious about what Lisa might say. "She wants to speak to you. You should answer it."Tedmond turned his head to Persis just as the call ended. He had spent too much time debating."Why do I have to pick it up?" he questioned. To him, the only people who should be calling were his father or Max. He wanted his family to be the ones reaching out to him.Lisa was just an outsider who had come into their family for money. He knew she would leave as soon as the family was ruined, but he didn’t intend to let her off easily.Since she had used him to get into the family, he was going to keep her there forever."Because it would be fun," Persis replied with a bright smile. "Aren't you curious about what she wants to say?"He shook his head. "I'

When Tedmond returned from the bathroom, Persis was already in bed—his bed. She had a towel in her hand, her damp hair wrapped up, and had changed into her pajamas…more like his.Although she had claimed she came to see Bianca, she hadn’t even considered using the guest room when she felt sleepy. Instead, she had chosen his bed. That was when he realized she had only used that excuse to stay at the mansion.Walking over, he glanced at her as she lay in bed. Her eyes were closed, but that wasn’t enough to convince him she was actually asleep."Did Lisa call again?" he asked, testing to see if she was still awake.Persis didn’t move or respond.Sighing, Tedmond adjusted her position on the bed and pulled the blanket over her. Then, he walked to his wardrobe and pulled out an extra blanket.Moving back, he spread the blanket on the floor beside the bed, grabbed a pillow, and lay down. He closed his eyes, deciding he would talk to her in the morning.*****Sunlight filled the room as some

Lisa had told the professor that so they could leave without Sierra. She was sure she wouldn’t get a chance to speak to Tedmond if Sierra was there, too.“If she’s not going to be here today, then we have to leave,” the professor replied.Glancing at Lisa, Tedmond found her grinning at him, a bright smile on her face. She looked like she had won.“She’ll be here soon,” Tedmond told the professor.Shaking his head, the professor gestured to the door. “I know you’re waiting for Tedmond, but you’re a top student. You should care about your grades first.”Hearing that, Finn snorted. He had been the top student before Tedmond took that spot from him. There was no way he was going to acknowledge it.“I’ll wait here for her then,” Tedmond replied. “If everyone leaves, she won’t know where we are. I’ll stay behind and lead her to the group later.”Lisa’s brow furrowed. That wasn’t what she expected. Her lips parted as she tried to say something, but the professor spoke first.“Okay. That’s fi

As soon as the words rolled off Finn’s lips, Lisa saw no reason to stop him. After all, if Tedmond was expelled, he might need their help to get back into school. She knew he wouldn’t want to embarrass himself by seeking help from his baby's mama.Even when they were dating, he had never asked her for anything, and she knew his child would be no different.Still, it puzzled her why he hadn’t relied on his baby mama when he was suffering at the hands of his family.Tilting her head to the side, she sighed. “Tell me what you’re going to do to them. If it’s something bad, make sure it affects Sierra more.”Finn nodded, a grin spreading across his face.****“What happened?” Persis asked as soon as she entered the classroom and found it empty. She had been curious ever since she saw Lisa leave with Finn. That made her think Lisa might have spoken to Tedmond without her presence.Tedmond rose to his feet. “You’re here. Since you’re here, it’s time for us to go. The others have gone to the

Tedmond glanced at Persis, his eyes questioning, silently asking if it was true. Persis nodded, confirming it wasn’t a lie. Lisa observed them both, confusion flickering in her eyes at their silent exchange.“She did mention it,” Tedmond replied, though Persis hadn’t told him anything. He was the one who had forgotten to ask her about it. “Why did you want to meet me?”Lisa’s eyes darted between Persis and Tedmond before settling on him. “With her here again?”Tedmond nodded, frowning. “What’s wrong with her being here? We’re super close—unlike you and me.”Lisa’s brows twitch, but she decided to push her concerns aside for now. First, she needed him to listen. Her gaze flickered between them again, suspicion evident, but she didn’t press further. "We should find a place to talk," she suggested, her voice smooth but firm."No," Tedmond replied instantly. There was no reason for a private conversation with her. He already had an idea of what she wanted to say, and he wasn’t interested.

Lisa exhaled, setting down her fork. "If you play this right, Tedmond, the company could be yours permanently."Saying that wasn’t something she wanted to say. It was all a lie, and she didn’t care. As long as he returned to the family and helped with his baby mama’s money, the company would be stable enough for Max to run it.Even if Tedmond had changed, he was still the illegitimate son."Every choice that was made was for the company," Lisa added. "You wouldn’t understand since you were never around."Tedmond’s brows furrowed. Now, she was trying to manipulate him into believing he knew nothing about the family because he left."Also, you haven't paid attention to the business to begin with," she claimed shamelessly. "There’s no way you would understand the decisions made on behalf of the company.""Oh, really?" Tedmond questioned, finally finding something to use against her. "Then how would I run the company if I don't understand a single decision made on its behalf?"Lisa was ca

“Did they just leave me to pay for it?” Lisa muttered, not realizing she had spoken aloud. The waiter gave her a confused look. “That’s right. You have to pay the bill.”Lisa’s face twisted in frustration. She had ordered tons of food, expecting Tedmond to foot the bill once their conversation was over. Yet, he hadn’t even paid for the water he drank, and Sierra had the audacity to order takeout as well.“Umm, ma’am, other tables are waiting for me. I can’t stand here forever,” the waiter said, reminding her that she still needed to pay.Groaning, Lisa held out her hand. “Hold up, let me grab my card from my bag real quick.”The waiter nodded, still waiting.Meanwhile, Tedmond stepped into a hotel just across from the restaurant, completely unaware that Persis had even ordered a takeout, leaving Lisa with a massive bill.He wanted to see what would happen next, and staying at the hotel was the perfect option since it had multiple floors, allowing him to observe everything. Before Tedmond left, he stopped by Otis’s ward—and to his surprise, none of the family members were there. He had thought they all cared about Otis, which was why they had ganged up on him. But it turned out they didn’t care about Otis at all. They probably just wanted to keep him alive for their own reasons.Standing at the doorway, Tedmond looked in and saw Otis lying on the bed, the blood transfusion steadily flowing into his veins. His frown deepened. Not only had Otis harmed him to get him in trouble with the relatives, but he had also ended up receiving his blood. The memory made Tedmond feel irritated all over again. However, on second thought, he felt a bit better. He had managed to take a small dose of revenge on Otis. Once everything in Otis's name was transferred to him, Tedmond doubted the family would have any use for Otis anymore.Just then, Tedmond recalled the seal on the document. Adeline wasn’t the type to make a mistake, especially not by stamping a forged document.

“Young Master, the documents are real—but the signature on the final page… it’s forged.”Thomas’s voice was cautious but steady.Tedmond’s frown deepened. “Forged?”“Yes,” Thomas confirmed. “The rest of the paperwork is legitimate—real estate records, asset transfers, bank notifications. Everything checks out. But the final signature... it’s not Otis’s. Someone replicated it. Expertly, I might add.”Tedmond sat still for a moment, his eyes fixed on the wall across from him. His fingers drummed against the armrest of the chair.“So they tried to trick me,” he muttered, a cold smile forming on his lips. “They thought I wouldn’t check.”“You did the right thing by sending it to me,” Thomas said. “If you had submitted that document anywhere official, they could’ve accused you of attempted fraud.”Tedmond leaned back. “Which means they never intended to hand over Otis’s assets in the first place. It was just bait.”“Yes.”He narrowed his eyes. “Let them come and try to retrieve it, then.”

Adeline had thought it all through before deciding to provide the fake documents. And since Tedmond didn’t question it and even took his own copy, it was easy for her to realize that he had no idea whether the documents were valid or not.“How would he know?” she asked herself, her lips stretching into a wide grin. “He took the file from me without knowing it was fake.”Hearing that, the rest of the family grew curious. Harold, however, frowned almost immediately.‘Does that mean Tedmond didn’t manage to snatch anything?’ Harold thought, disliking the idea.“What are you talking about?” Tina asked, still not getting it. “How are the documents fake?”Gerald ran a hand through his hair. He had been terrified for a moment, but it seemed Otis’s assets were still safe.“I think I understand what she means,” Gerald spoke up. “Since Otis isn’t conscious and, as his father, I didn’t sign the document, there’s no way Tedmond would get all of Otis’s assets.”That was when the others smiled, mo

“The right amount of blood has been taken. You’ll need to rest for a while,” Doctor Richie said, glancing at Tedmond, who was buttoning up his sleeves.Tedmond frowned slightly, his gaze falling on the three full blood bags resting on the nurse’s tray. He knew they needed his blood, but three bags? That felt excessive.A flicker of suspicion crossed his mind. Had the doctor conspired with someone from the Griffin family to weaken him by drawing so much blood?“Although we collected a little more than usual, your blood levels are still strong,” Doctor Richie added. “You’re remarkably healthy. Not everyone could handle this.”‘A healthy donor?’ Tedmond thought, looking away.He had no intention of donating blood again—especially not to a Griffin. The only reason he agreed this time was so he could use it against Ottis later.Leaning back in the chair, Tedmond remained silent, his mind unsettled. His gaze lingered on Doctor Richie, as if trying to read the man’s true intentions.“When ca

“Tell me quickly—what do you want in exchange for the donation?” Adeline asked, her voice laced with desperation.Tedmond smiled—not kindly, but with a glint of mockery in his eyes.“What should I ask for?” he said, taunting them, his tone smooth and cruel. The others immediately exploded in rage.“What are you doing, Adeline?!” Gerald demanded.“Weren’t you the one against him having anything from the family?!” Tina bellowed.“How can you give him something?” Maxine added.“You shouldn’t give him a choice,” Evelyn said, turning to Harold. “You should stop her. Who knows what she might hand over? Max doesn’t even have anything from the main family, and now that bastard is going to get something?”Then she noticed Harold’s face.He wasn’t upset. In fact, he was smiling brightly.“What are you grinning about?” Evelyn questioned, eyes wide in shock. “Are you okay with that illegitimate child having something Max doesn’t have?”It was only then that Harold seemed to register her words.“W

His uncles exchanged tense glances.Tina opened her mouth as if to speak, then closed it again, pressing her lips into a thin line.It was clear they were struggling to stay composed.Tedmond didn’t flinch. He had expected this reaction. He had spent too many years being treated like he didn’t belong. Now that the tables had turned, they would have to accept it—whether they liked it or not.Vivian’s voice broke th

“You’re an illegitimate child,” Richard sneered, his voice dripping with disdain. “No matter what, you’d have to donate your blood anyway. It’s not like you have a choice. Don’t act like you’re doing us a favor.”Gerald added, “Yeah, Ottis is in trouble because of you. It’s time you stepped up.”“It's something that you must do,” Tina added, her grin widening since the others were taking her side. “The illegitimate child has to support the legitimate children.”Nodding her head, Evelyn liked how things were going. She even wished that Tedmond could donate his blood so that he would lose tons of blood. It reminded her of the time in the past when she had taken a certain person's blood for no valid reason. The mere thought of it brought a sinister smile on her face.“You know it is the right thing to do, right?” Evelyn said. “Ottis is in critical condition, and you have to donate the blood to him.”Harold remained silent, watching the exchange unfold. He wanted to see how Tedmond would

At the same time, Tedmond was led into the doctor’s office by a nurse. She held the door open, nodded politely, and left without a word.He narrowed his eyes as she walked away. Odd. No greeting, no explanation. Just silence. Before he could dwell on it, a voice snapped him back.“You’re here, Mr. Tedmond,” the head doctor said, glancing up from a file.Tedmond gave a small nod.“Have a seat,” the doctor said, gesturing to the chair across his desk.Tedmond sat, posture relaxed but gaze sharp. He didn’t like surprise meetings, especially not from anyone connected to the Griffins. If Thomas had known the doctor would call him, he would’ve warned him. The silence meant one thing—this was orchestrated by the Griffins.“This isn’t just a friendly chat,” Tedmond said dryly. “What do you want?”The doctor offered a faint smile. “It’s about Ottis.”Tedmond waited.“You’re listed as one of the emergency blood matches in our system, based on an old check-up. While other things were going on, Tedmond stood outside the hospital with one hand in his pocket. He considered heading back home since he had nothing to do at the hospital. However, on second thought, he changed his mind.He was certain his men had beaten up Ottis, but not so severely that it would require a blood transfusion.'Ottis must have done something else to make himself bleed that much.' Tedmond thought. He couldn’t help but wonder if Ottis had intentionally worsened his injuries to get back at him.Pulling out his phone, Tedmond dialed Thomas’s number. Since he didn’t have the bodyguards’ contacts, he couldn’t reach them directly. If he’d known he’d need to contact them again, he would’ve gotten their numbers. But now, it was too late.“Young master,” Thomas answered on the second ring.“Did you see the report from the bodyguards?” Tedmond asked, his voice low and calm.“Yes, young master. I was about to contact you—something seems off. According to the report, Ottis only s
