Tedmond glanced at Persis, his eyes questioning, silently asking if it was true. Persis nodded, confirming it wasn’t a lie. Lisa observed them both, confusion flickering in her eyes at their silent exchange.

“She did mention it,” Tedmond replied, though Persis hadn’t told him anything. He was the one who had forgotten to ask her about it. “Why did you want to meet me?”

Lisa’s eyes darted between Persis and Tedmond before settling on him. “With her here again?”

Tedmond nodded, frowning. “What’s wrong with her being here? We’re super close—unlike you and me.”

Lisa’s brows twitch, but she decided to push her concerns aside for now. First, she needed him to listen.

Her gaze flickered between them again, suspicion evident, but she didn’t press further. "We should find a place to talk," she suggested, her voice smooth but firm.

"No," Tedmond replied instantly. There was no reason for a private conversation with her. He already had an idea of what she wanted to say, and he wasn’t interested.

Lisa exhaled, setting down her fork. "If you play this right, Tedmond, the company could be yours permanently."Saying that wasn’t something she wanted to say. It was all a lie, and she didn’t care. As long as he returned to the family and helped with his baby mama’s money, the company would be stable enough for Max to run it.Even if Tedmond had changed, he was still the illegitimate son."Every choice that was made was for the company," Lisa added. "You wouldn’t understand since you were never around."Tedmond’s brows furrowed. Now, she was trying to manipulate him into believing he knew nothing about the family because he left."Also, you haven't paid attention to the business to begin with," she claimed shamelessly. "There’s no way you would understand the decisions made on behalf of the company.""Oh, really?" Tedmond questioned, finally finding something to use against her. "Then how would I run the company if I don't understand a single decision made on its behalf?"Lisa was ca

“Did they just leave me to pay for it?” Lisa muttered, not realizing she had spoken aloud. The waiter gave her a confused look. “That’s right. You have to pay the bill.”Lisa’s face twisted in frustration. She had ordered tons of food, expecting Tedmond to foot the bill once their conversation was over. Yet, he hadn’t even paid for the water he drank, and Sierra had the audacity to order takeout as well.“Umm, ma’am, other tables are waiting for me. I can’t stand here forever,” the waiter said, reminding her that she still needed to pay.Groaning, Lisa held out her hand. “Hold up, let me grab my card from my bag real quick.”The waiter nodded, still waiting.Meanwhile, Tedmond stepped into a hotel just across from the restaurant, completely unaware that Persis had even ordered a takeout, leaving Lisa with a massive bill.He wanted to see what would happen next, and staying at the hotel was the perfect option since it had multiple floors, allowing him to observe everything. He only hop

Her heart sank as he locked eyes with her, then shifted his gaze toward Hino. From the look in Max’s eyes, Lisa could already tell what was coming.Hino, who had walked out with her, noticed that she had stopped moving and followed her gaze to see what had caught her attention.Seeing Max there, his lips immediately curled into a grin, which he desperately tried to hide but couldn't.He knew Lisa had left Tedmond for his brother, but now it looked like Max was the one being cuckolded.“What the hell is this?” Max demanded, his voice low but laced with fury.He immediately stopped leaning against his car and hurried toward them.Lisa stiffened, her mind racing for an excuse, but Max didn’t give her the chance.“You messaged me saying you needed money. I came all the way here, and I find you with another man? You needed money to pay for another guy’s meal?” His voice rose, drawing the attention of nearby people. Those who overheard his words began murmuring.“Is there a fight happening?

Hino crouched beside Max, speaking low enough for only him to hear. “Stay down. You don’t want to know what happens if I stop holding back.”Max gritted his teeth, humiliated, but he knew he was outmatched.Hino stood up and dusted himself off like nothing had happened. He turned to Lisa, smirking. “Are you ready to go?”Lisa hesitated, glancing between Hino and Max. The way Max lay on the pavement, his pride crushed beneath Hino’s merciless hands, sent a shiver down her spine. This wasn’t supposed to happen. She had planned to control the situation, but now Max had been humiliated in public. And the worst part? Hino wasn’t even fazed. But she couldn’t afford to be dragged down with Max. If she defended him now, she would look weak—desperate. People would pity him—and, by extension, mock her. No, she had to stay in control. If Max was going to ruin himself, she wouldn’t go down with him.And she wouldn’t be able to get what she wanted from Hino. Since Tedmond had completely refused he

Right after saying that, Tedmond moved to the couch in the room and turned on the TV. He wanted to watch the event as Duncan had asked him, but before sitting down, he made sure to send a response to Duncan.‘I just turned on the TV. I’ll be watching the live show.’As soon as he sent the text, Duncan read it almost immediately and responded.‘Okay. I won’t let you down.’Tedmond chuckled. He hadn’t been waiting for someone to let him down, nor had he thought about it when he spoke to Duncan.Sitting down on the sofa, he leaned back, waiting for the station to come on. Persis took a seat next to him, peering at the large screen in front of them. She wondered if this was all she would have missed had she not asked for a room with two beds.Just then, Tedmond changed the channel, and there was Duncan, seated among the interviewers. He was neatly dressed, his hair pulled back into a sleek, silky hold. Wearing his glasses, he looked more like a professor than a businessman.Tedmond leaned

The entire family was summoned for an emergency meeting, and to everyone’s surprise, they assembled faster than expected. While they had several locations to choose from, they unanimously agreed to gather at Harold’s house—it was the closest to Duncan and his family, making it the most strategic option. Before long, every member was seated around the long table in one of the mansion’s grand meeting rooms. Their expressions ranged from irritation to concern, each of them clearly displeased at having to abandon their plans on such short notice.Once Harold confirmed that everyone had arrived, he wasted no time explaining the gravity of the situation. As he spoke, the atmosphere grew heavier, tension crackling in the air like a brewing storm.By the time he finished, a wave of panic had settled over the table. Expressions hardened, jaws clenched, and for a brief moment, silence reigned—until the weight of his words fully sank in.The look on their faces said it all.“Where is this guy we

Duncan’s brows furrowed as he checked the message on his phone. It read:"Although we failed to apologize for what we did to you and for trying to jeopardize your life, we won’t be asking for forgiveness this time. As long as you’re willing to cooperate with us and not mention our name as the culprit in the interview, we are willing to offer you five percent shares of the Griffin family’s general business."His eyes widened in surprise as he finished reading. A deep frown settled on his face, and without hesitation, he turned to the interviewer.“I would like to take a break,” Duncan said, his voice calm but firm. The interviewer, noticing the shift in his expression, nodded without question. “It’s okay. Take your time, Mr. Harrison.”Duncan gave a brief nod before rising from his seat. He swiftly exited the room, his mind already racing with thoughts about the message he had just received.Meanwhile, in his hotel room, Tedmond sat on the couch, his brows furrowed in confusion. He still recalled researching the Harrisons and discovering that Duncan had started his company because he had been a fan of a project the Griffin Corporation had worked on.Harold had been his inspiration to start and run his business. Digging deeper, Tedmond had even found out that Duncan had once sought business advice from Harold. And yet, now they were sworn enemies.Trying hard not to smile, Tedmond took a sip from his glass. Harold would have never expected that the teenager he once advised would one day grow powerful enough to suppress him. Tedmond also highly doubted that Harold even remembered him.Shaking his head, he snapped out of his thoughts and peered at Duncan.Sighing, he rubbed his temple. “I’m a Washington. I have plenty of things. You don’t need to hand me the shares.”Duncan already knew that and didn’t care. Tedmond had helped him gather most of the evidence even before his brother broke into

"He killed her, and his family covered it up," the lawyer continued bitterly. "They even said her death worked in their favor—that it saved them the trouble."Oscar glanced at the man, studying the expression on his face—grief twisted with anger. He had always known Otis could be cruel, but he hadn't expected him to go that far. He never imagined things would spiral this badly.“What are you going to do now?” Oscar asked quietly. “I don’t know much about you… I haven’t used your services before.”The lawyer turned to him. For a moment, he said nothing. Then, a thin, cold smile crept across his face.“Right,” he said. “Let me introduce myself. I’m Benedict Hall.”Oscar blinked. He couldn’t believe he had never even known the lawyer’s name.“I’m the family’s retainer. I’ve handled estate filings, minor disputes, and contracts.”Oscar raised a brow. “Are you still going to work for the family?”Benedict hesitated before giving a slow nod. “Yes. Oscar nodded.“Those bastards,” she muttered under her breath. “All of this happened because Otis was stupid enough to get himself that badly injured just to get back at Tedmond—and it didn’t even work. Why are they ganging up on me? If I hadn’t done what I did, Otis wouldn’t even be alive.”“Well, I was the one who prepared the documents,” Adeline continued, waving her hand dismissively. “If I hadn’t prepared them, that bastard wouldn’t have donated his blood. But I had no idea the documents were valid.”She dropped her fork and groaned.“The document shouldn’t have been valid if Otis didn’t sign it,” she added. “We even took the copy that was handed to him while he was unconscious and destroyed it. There’s no way he could have gotten all of Otis’s assets. And the lawyer told me the document can’t be used legally.”At the mention of the lawyer, Oscar’s brows rose. “The lawyer said that?”Adeline nodded. “Yes. He was the one who drafted the document to fool Tedmond.”“I see,” Oscar re

Adeline paced back and forth in her room, her fingers pressed against her lips as she tried to think. So far, she hadn’t come up with a single idea.“It was all his fault!” she yelled, running a hand through her hair, her face twisted in fury. Her room was a disaster—just like her mind.Pillows were strewn across the floor, the bedsheets half-hanging as if yanked in a fit of rage. One of the dresser drawers had been pulled out and tossed aside, its contents—scarves, papers, and makeup—spilled and trampled underfoot. A long crack ran across the mirror above the vanity, a reminder of the moment she had flung a bottle at it.Clothes clung limply to the edges of chairs, the wardrobe doors flung open, one hanging precariously by a hinge. Books lay scattered against the wall, their spines bent, pages torn. The once-scented candles were now just puddles of broken wax on her desk. She stepped over a shattered perfume bottle, its sharp scent still lingering in the air—mixing with the bitterne

Otis's breath caught in his throat. The very sight of Tedmond standing in the doorway—calm, composed, and eerily confident—made his blood boil.“What the hell are you doing here?” Otis barked, yanking the sheets off his legs like he intended to get out of bed.“There’s no need to get up,” Tedmond said before Otis could move further. “I just came to check up on you, since I happened to be so kind and thoughtful.”Hearing that, Otis couldn’t help but feel livid. He had already seen the article, had heard others call Tedmond ‘thoughtful and kind’—but hearing it straight from Tedmond’s mouth made his skin crawl.“What the heck happened?!” Otis demanded. “Did you get them to write that article just to frame me?!”“What do you mean me framing you?” Tedmond asked, arching a brow.He paused for a moment, thoughtful. He had assumed Otis must’ve seen the news—the countless notifications about losing everything. But it seemed Otis hadn’t.After waking up hours earlier, Tedmond had already finali

  • CHAPTER 248

The thought of Tedmond being punished brought a satisfied smile to Otis's face. As long as he was still Otis, the family would care for him and make sure he was well taken care of while he was unconscious.‘Tedmond must’ve been tied up and kept in custody—just in case I woke up. Then I’d decide what to do with him,’ Otis thought, lips curling into a smirk.Growing impatient, he glanced toward the door, wondering what was taking so long. Even the nurse who went to fetch the doctor hadn’t returned yet. He was starting to worry.‘Maybe I’m still dreaming,’ he thought.Just then, the door opened, and the doctor walked in. It was Dr. Richie, wearing a serious expression.Seeing him, Otis relaxed. Richie was their family doctor—someone he trusted. There was no need to worry.“How long was I asleep?” Otis asked.“Forty-eight hours,” Dr. Richie replied, walking over to check on him.“Forty-eight hours?!” Otis yelled, stunned. Two whole days. It felt like much longer. Hearing it had only been

  • CHAPTER 247

Even though Tedmond had looked strong earlier when he was discharged from the hospital, the moment his body hit the bed, he couldn’t deny how exhausted he was.He would have fallen asleep right away if not for the fact that he still had to eat—otherwise, Persis would wake him up before he got any real rest. So, he lay in bed, staring up at the ceiling. As soon as he closed his eyes and opened them again, everything around him blurred. His limbs felt heavy, and a strange chill ran through his body. The last thing he remembered was the sound of his own heartbeat—faint and sluggish. He had donated three full bags of blood—far more than any normal person should.Though he hadn’t said it out loud, just standing up earlier had taken sheer willpower. His body was running on empty. But still, he couldn’t understand why he felt that weak. The doctor had said he had more blood than the average person, and even if that wasn’t true, it still didn’t explain the overwhelming weakness.Unless... som

  • CHAPTER 246

Before Tedmond left, he stopped by Otis’s ward—and to his surprise, none of the family members were there. He had thought they all cared about Otis, which was why they had ganged up on him. But it turned out they didn’t care about Otis at all. They probably just wanted to keep him alive for their own reasons.Standing at the doorway, Tedmond looked in and saw Otis lying on the bed, the blood transfusion steadily flowing into his veins. His frown deepened. Not only had Otis harmed him to get him in trouble with the relatives, but he had also ended up receiving his blood. The memory made Tedmond feel irritated all over again. However, on second thought, he felt a bit better. He had managed to take a small dose of revenge on Otis. Once everything in Otis's name was transferred to him, Tedmond doubted the family would have any use for Otis anymore.Just then, Tedmond recalled the seal on the document. Adeline wasn’t the type to make a mistake, especially not by stamping a forged document.

“Young Master, the documents are real—but the signature on the final page… it’s forged.”Thomas’s voice was cautious but steady.Tedmond’s frown deepened. “Forged?”“Yes,” Thomas confirmed. “The rest of the paperwork is legitimate—real estate records, asset transfers, bank notifications. Everything checks out. But the final signature... it’s not Otis’s. Someone replicated it. Expertly, I might add.”Tedmond sat still for a moment, his eyes fixed on the wall across from him. His fingers drummed against the armrest of the chair.“So they tried to trick me,” he muttered, a cold smile forming on his lips. “They thought I wouldn’t check.”“You did the right thing by sending it to me,” Thomas said. “If you had submitted that document anywhere official, they could’ve accused you of attempted fraud.”Tedmond leaned back. “Which means they never intended to hand over Otis’s assets in the first place. It was just bait.”“Yes.”He narrowed his eyes. “Let them come and try to retrieve it, then.”

  • CHAPTER 244

Adeline had thought it all through before deciding to provide the fake documents. And since Tedmond didn’t question it and even took his own copy, it was easy for her to realize that he had no idea whether the documents were valid or not.“How would he know?” she asked herself, her lips stretching into a wide grin. “He took the file from me without knowing it was fake.”Hearing that, the rest of the family grew curious. Harold, however, frowned almost immediately.‘Does that mean Tedmond didn’t manage to snatch anything?’ Harold thought, disliking the idea.“What are you talking about?” Tina asked, still not getting it. “How are the documents fake?”Gerald ran a hand through his hair. He had been terrified for a moment, but it seemed Otis’s assets were still safe.“I think I understand what she means,” Gerald spoke up. “Since Otis isn’t conscious and, as his father, I didn’t sign the document, there’s no way Tedmond would get all of Otis’s assets.”That was when the others smiled, mo
