Hearing him speak to her like that, Lisa frowned so hard that lines formed on her forehead.

She had wanted to meet with him, thinking he would be glad since it was about the seal and the fact that they were supposed to get married.

After all, he had been heartbroken when she left him for his brother, and now she believed he’d finally do something about it.

Seeing her stand there, Tedmond arched a brow.

“Are you speaking or not?”

When she didn’t respond, he rose from his seat, ready to leave.

He wasn’t about to waste the time he could’ve used to eat on someone clearly set on wasting his time.

“Wait!” she called out just as he stood. “Let’s talk first. Could you please remain seated?”

Without waiting for his reply, she hurried to sit in the chair opposite him. A slight twitch on her face betrayed the displeasure she tried to hide behind a neutral expression.

Ignoring her look, Tedmond sat back down.

“Go on,” he said curtly.

Sighing, she clasped her hands together and looked straight at

Harold didn’t bother to look; he could identify the voice instantly.A ferocious, pain-filled shout tore through the house.“Are you still asking about that useless whelp?”The main doors to the living room burst open. Gerald was wheeled in, slumped in a wheelchair, looking utterly ravaged—pale, lined with exhaustion and rage. His left trouser leg had been crudely cut and stitched, revealing a thick bandage beneath. The grim-faced maid pushing the chair froze just inside the room, clearly wanting no part of the impending storm.Gerald snarled at her, and she quickly retreated through the door.Gerald had to grasp the wheels himself, struggling to pull the heavy chair closer to Vivian and Harold. He slammed his fist onto the armrest.“Gerald! What in the world happened to your leg?” Vivian cried, rushing forward, horrified.Gerald ignored her entirely, eyes fixed on Harold. Veins throbbed visibly on his temple as he shook with rage.“You!” he roared, pointing a trembling finger. “You

Persis couldn’t understand where the misunderstanding had come from, nor did she know that Kyle was aware Tedmond was engaged to a Damon. He had only mentioned being engaged, not the name or family.“They were quite agitated,” Perseia continued, observing her sister like a scientist examining an experiment. “It seems Tedmond isn’t picking up his phone, nor is he answering texts, and they had absolutely no idea where he lived. Naturally, they assumed his soon-to-be Damon wife could help them.”The humiliation of the kidnapping, the condescension over the meal, all faded against this sudden, massive intrusion into her private life.Persis felt a wave of sickening dread. She had no idea they thought that way, and she would never want them to—simply because she and Tedmond were engaged and would one day be married.Perseia leaned across the desk, eyes cold as polished stone.“Tell me, Persis. Are you and Tedmond running around the city telling people—people like Kyle and Melody—that I am

Perseia set her glass down.Thunk! The soft click echoed in the silent room. Her cool gaze, devoid of any sisterly warmth, locked onto Persis.“The meaning,” Perseia stated, her voice low and perfectly controlled, slicing through Persis’s legal and familial appeals, “is that you didn’t answer my calls, you didn’t respond to Lynn, and your ‘critical matter’ has now become a critical problem for me.”She held Persis’s furious gaze.“You ask why I didn’t use my own number? Because I know you, Persis. I knew that if I called you myself, you might not take the call. Lynn was the only guarantee of getting a message to you.”A dismissive gesture followed, directed at the two men behind Persis.“I didn’t kidnap you. I exercised due diligence to ensure you were present for a conversation necessary to the financial health of the Damon holdings. I brought you here to talk.”Perseia leaned back, crossing one leg over the other with calculated patience. Her expression hardened into an absolute dec

The ride was agonizingly fast, bumpy, and silent, broken only by the low rumble of the SUV's engine and Persis’s strained breathing. Her arms were held tight behind her back; she couldn’t be sure if they were tied or simply held by the iron grip of the man sitting beside her. Attempts to speak and demand answers were made, but the heavy fabric bag pulled immediately over her head after the abduction had rendered her efforts useless and terrifyingly disorienting. The smell of stale leather and sweat filled the confines of the vehicle, pressing down on her growing panic. Focusing on the motion, she tried to discern their trajectory, but the constant turning and high speeds made it impossible to get any sense of direction. A realization dawned: they were definitely leaving the city.Suddenly, the vehicle slowed, the tires crunching on what sounded like gravel or a rough driveway. The SUV came to an abrupt, final stop. The rear door next to her was pulled open. “Out,” a gruff voice

Persis quickly walked over to the bed, her face set in a worried frown.Leaning over, she gently adjusted the blanket over Tedmond’s broad chest. His breathing was shallow but steady.A look back at the CCTV monitor displayed the secure hallway leading to the room. The feed showed nothing but the beige wall and a closed door. It was sterile, quiet, and safe.Thomas was not close and was now able to leave and go see things for herself. She then looked down at Tedmond. His face, usually so commanding, was peaceful in sleep.A stray lock of dark hair was brushed from his forehead.“I’m going to come back soon,” she whispered, her voice tight with urgency and affection. “Don’t worry. I just need to make sure Kyle is safe. Don’t move from here, okay?”Retrieving her small clutch, she checked the tracker one last time—Thomas’s team was en route, and headed for the door.Stepping out of the hidden safe house, she moved swiftly but carefully through the building’s service corridors and out to

Persis stared intensely at her phone screen. The mapping software confirmed the trajectory of Frank and Harold’s convoy, a direct line toward the highly secured Damon Family compound.“This is insane,” she whispered. She switched the surveillance feed from the static building camera to the tracker she had hidden on Frank’s vehicle. The small green dot crawled across the digital map.She needed to follow them, anticipate their move, and coordinate with Thomas.Ring.Ring.Her phone vibrated violently, cutting the live feed and replacing it with an incoming call.Persis’s frown deepened. The caller ID flashed an internal office number—Perseia’s executive line. Beneath it: Ms. Lynn.'Why is Lynn calling me?'Perseia never used her secretary for personal matters. If she wanted Persis, she’d call directly or send Thomas. For Lynn to be the one reaching out meant this came from Perseia’s corporate world, and it wasn’t minor.Tedmond unconscious beside her, Frank and Harold on the move, and
