Lucas and Anthony

Lucas went to Dalton's house. He knocked on the door, not long after that Dalton opened. "I am sorry, I think I've seen you."

"Yes, I'm Lucas. I am Davidson's brother. You must have seen me at the party last night.”

"Oh, I see. Oh My God, it's really an honor for me to have my house visited by an honorable person like you. Please come in, sir!”

Lucas enters Dalton's house. He noticed every piece of furniture in the house that looked simple.

"Would you like coffee or juice, sir?" Dalton offered Lucas a drink.

"No, thanks. I was just discussing something important with you.”

"Oh. Please take a sit." Dalton looked nervous, he was also confused about what Lucas wanted to tell him. "What do you want to talk to me about, sir?"

"It's about Agler."

"Agler?"

"Yes. Agler is your son-in-law. I'm sure you know more about his background and origins that you married your daughter to him. Can you explain that to me?”

“Oh, actually, I don't really know Agler's background. But my father knows him better. I only found out that Agler was from an orphanage.”

“So, how can you marry off your daughter to a man from an orphanage who doesn't even have a job?”

“Actually, I don't approve of their marriage. But my father always reassured me that Agler was a good man. My father also once said that I would not regret choosing him to be my son-in-law. And after learning that Agler was Davidson's grandson, I understood what my father meant." Dalton explained to Lucas honestly.

Then Lucas asked, "Are you sure Agler is Davidson's real grandson?"

Dalton frowned, he didn't understand what Lucas' question meant. "What do you mean, sir?"

“I must tell you, Davidson's son is named Janson. Their car went into a ravine. He and his wife and their child had an accident twenty-five years ago. Janson and his wife were found dead in a pathetic condition. But their son, who was two years old at the time, was nowhere to be found. Everyone believed that the baby was either lost in the abyss or had been eaten by the beast that was there. But Mr Davidson always believed that his grandson was still alive. Isn't that impossible?"

Dalton silently listened to Davison's explanation. Then, Dalton said, “Yes, that does sound impossible. But in reality, Davidson's grandson is still alive. He is Agler."

"How do you think Davidson's grandson is still alive and in an orphanage?"

"Maybe someone has helped him."

"It is impossible. I can't believe that you would believe in such an impossible thing."

Dalton frowned again. "What do you mean, sir?"

“I believe Davidson's real grandson is dead. And Agler is not his grandson."

“But why did Agler become Davidson's grandson? And how could Davidson believe that Agler was his grandson? I'm sure he must have a reason."

“Yes, Davidson's grandson has a birthmark on the sole of his foot. I'm sure someone knew about it, so he took advantage of the situation by asking Agler to claim to be Davidson's grandson so they could benefit from Mr Davidson's estate."

Dalton started thinking about Lucas's hypothesis. "You are right. It could happen. But who was the one who did that?”

"You."

"Me? Are you accusing me?" Dalton immediately stared. "I swear, sir. I don't know about it. I was even the most shocked when I found out that my stupid son-in-law was actually Davidson's grandson.” Dalton denied Dalton's accusations.

"Yes, I believe in you. But I want you to claim to be the one who instructed Agler to be Davidson's grandson."

Dalton was silent for a moment then said, "I really don't understand what you mean, sir."

Lucas seemed to sigh, then he said, “You should go to Mr Davidson and then tell him that Agler isn't his real grandson. Or you could say that you saw Agler get a tattoo on the sole of his foot to make everyone believe he was Davidson's grandson.”

"I'm sorry. I can not do that. I know Mr Davidson is a man of power. I don't dare to get into trouble with him."

Lucas smiled sarcastically. “Don't you realize that your daughter is in big trouble right now? Her position is now very threatened. If Mr Davidson finds out that Agler has lied to him, then Davidson will also punish Pooja because he will argue that Pooja is conspiring with Agler. I'm sure you wouldn't want to see your daughter get hurt, would you? So, you can consider my suggestion. I will give you a million dollars if you will cooperate with me.”

“One million dollars?”

“Yeah, isn't that a very attractive offer? This is my business card. You can contact me once you've made up your mind." Lucas left his business card on the table, after which he walked out of Dalton's house.

Anthony had crossed paths with Lucas in front of Dalton's house. "Papa-in-law, isn't that person Lucas?" Anthony asked Dalton as he entered the house.

"Yes, he is Lucas, brother Davidson."

"What is he doing here, Papa?"

“He has come to see me and told me Agler is not the real Davidson's grandson. He also asked me to tell that to Davidson. You know, I don’t dare to do that because I have no proof. I also don't know if Agler is Davidson's real grandson or not. But Lucas said Pooja would be in trouble if I didn't tell Davidson about it. Ah, I'm really confused right now." Dalton seemed to be rubbing his own forehead.

Meanwhile, Anthony began to analyze Dalton's words. He also wondered why Lucas asked Dalton to do that. Did Lucas not like it if Agler became Davidson's heir? Did Lucas want to control the entire Davidson business?

Dalton said again, “You know, he offered me a million dollars. I know it's a huge amount, but I still dare not to make trouble with Davidson. I'm afraid, what if Lucas' guess is wrong? If that happened, Davidson would be very angry with me.”

"Are you serious Lucas offered you a million dollars?"

"Yeah, he even left his business card."

Anthony took the business card that was on the table. Then he said, “Papa, I have to go now. Please tell Ellena I might be late coming home tonight."

"hah? Where are you going, Anthony?”

Anthony didn't answer Dalton's question anymore because he was already in his car.

Lucas is at his house. He was still waiting for a phone call from Dalton. He hoped Dalton would accept his offer. An assistant came up to him and said, "There's someone who wants to see you, sir."

"Who is he?"

"He said his name was Anthony, he was Dalton's son-in-law."

“Dalton's son-in-law? Please send him into my room.”

"Okay, sir."

Lucas' assistant called for Anthony who was still standing in the courtyard. After that, Anthony was invited to meet Lucas in his room.

“Sorry if I interrupt your time, sir. I'm Anthony, I'm Dalton's son-in-law."

"What did you see me for?"

“I heard you made an offer to my father-in-law. You know, he's too old to have the courage. You can make that offer to me, sir. I am a lawyer, I have a lot of experience solving cases. I am willing to carry out your orders.”

"Are you serious?"

"Yes."

“But I have to make sure, are you really going to side with me? You should know, I really hate a traitor."

Anthony smiled faintly and said, “You needn't worry, sir. I'm sure we have the same goal. You want to take down Agler, don't you? So I want to do that too. You know, I really hate that loser. Especially after knowing that he claimed to be Davidson's grandson. My father-in-law flatters him all the time and it makes me want to destroy that stupid loser.”

Lucas immediately smiled at Anthony's words. He even got up from his chair and walked over to Anthony. “Nice! You are the person I need. I will give you a million dollars and even more if you succeed in carrying out my orders.”

"I understand, sir. Thank you for the opportunity you have given me.”

Then they both shook hands.
