From behind the trees, a shadowy figure emerged. An old woman, her white hair neatly tied back, held a long-barreled rifle, its muzzle still letting out a faint wisp of smoke. Her steps were calm and steady. Margaret.

Margaret approached. Her face was serious, her eyes sharp. She surveyed the situation, making sure there were no further threats. Bodies lay sprawled around the smoking car, the acrid smell of burnt metal and blood hanging in the air. The cold forest air was biting, but the tension was far more pervasive.

"Are you two alright?" Margaret asked, her voice sterner than usual. She clutched the rifle tightly, poised for any lingering danger.

Serena and Jimmy stared at Margaret in disbelief. The old woman they had tied up and accused last night was now saving their lives. And she was a sniper? This was insane.

Milla immediately ran toward Margaret. "Margaret! You're amazing!" She hadn't expected Margaret to be this skilled. Milla's face was filled with awe, as if she'd just wi

"Condition?" Jessica repeated, her voice containing a hint of disbelief. "What condition do you want?"Dave, now standing and facing Jessica, showed no change in expression. "I need to stay in your mansion."A sudden silence crept between them. Jessica gasped. Lisa, who had been standing silently, jolted."What?!" Lisa exclaimed, her voice high-pitched, no longer caring about formalities. "What do you think this is?! This is a crazy request! Ms. Wagner can't possibly let a stranger live in her private home! Her privacy and security will be at risk!"Dave turned slightly towards Lisa, his gaze calm. "I understand your concerns. But this is the only way if Ms. Wagner truly wants to recover and be free."Jessica raised a hand, stopping Lisa, who was about to launch another protest. "Why? Why do you have to stay there, Dave? The salve has already proven effective. You can give me the rest, and I'll use it myself. I'll pay whatever it costs.""This isn't just about the salve, Jessica," Dav

Jessica applied the salve to other areas of her skin, watching in amazement as the hideous wounds and sores vanished one by one. The itching and pain that had been her constant companions were now gone without a trace. It felt like she had been reborn. She looked at her reflection in the mirror, tears welling up in her eyes. Her face, which she had always hidden, now slowly began to look smooth. The next morning, Lisa entered Jessica's room with a breakfast tray.Lisa placed the tray on the table. "Miss, your breakfast—" Her sentence trailed off. Her eyes narrowed, staring at Jessica's face. Something was different. Very different. The tiny sores around Jessica's temples, which had always been her primary concern, were now almost invisible. Only a slight, faint redness remained, which could easily be hidden with light makeup."Miss, your face..." Lisa stepped closer, her eyes scrutinizing. "The wound here..." She pointed to Jessica's temple. "It's much better."Jessica smiled, a genui

Dave returned to the inn. He seemed busy after meeting with Jessica. "I need to concoct a special salve," Dave explained. "A salve that will heal the wounds and also penetrate the magical binding, helping her body fight against and release itself from the curse's influence."Milla looked at him skeptically. "A salve? With what? Magic potions? Incantations?""With specific ingredients," Dave said. "I'll give you a list of them. Some might be easy to find, some will be extremely rare. You'll have to get them.""Just give me the list then," Milla replied eagerly. "I'll try to search to the ends of the earth if I have to."Over the next two days, the inn turned into a bustling operation center. Dave wrote out a long list of ingredients, many of which sounded strange and abnormal to Milla. From meteorite dust fallen in specific locations, to roots of trees that only grew on the highest mountain peaks, to tears from a certain rare bird."Meteorite dust?" Milla repeated, squinting at Dave's

"Oh my god, sir!" Milla burst out, her tone a mix of anger and mounting concern. "What the hell was that?! You got slapped?!" Milla pointed to Dave's cheek, which was faintly red, though there was no significant mark. "After everything we did, coming all this way, saving that woman from her pursuers, and she slapped you?! Why do your siblings never believe you?""They'll believe eventually," Dave cut in softly, raising a hand. He walked to the table, took a bottle of water, and drank slowly. His movements were calm, as if the slap had been nothing more than a casual greeting. "I know why she did that. And I did it on purpose."Milla stopped talking, her brows furrowed. "On purpose? You let yourself get slapped? What is wrong with you? What did you expect, being so blunt? Talking about 'powerful magic' to someone you just saved. Who's gonna believe that right away?!" She shook her head in disbelief. "Sometimes I just don't get you. You're too direct."Dave sighed. "I was blunt on purpo

Dave flopped onto the plush sofa in his apartment, his eyes staring blankly at the ceiling. He pulled a tablet from his bag, looking at the still-long list of names there. The next sibling.A moment later, a knock sounded at the door. Milla entered, carrying a stack of files and a warm cup of coffee."Your favorite coffee, sir," Milla said, placing it on the table. "And here's the data you requested for the next sibling."Dave took the file. A picture of a young blonde woman stared up at him from the front page. Her name was clearly printed beneath: Jessica Wagner."Jessica Wagner," Dave read, repeating the name slowly. "An actress?"Milla nodded, her eyes serious. "Yes. She used to be incredibly famous. Her career was at its peak. She landed lead roles in several major films, garnering critical acclaim. Then, suddenly, she vanished. Completely disappeared off the face of the earth. No news coverage, no official statement from her agency, nobody knew a thing. To this day, no trace of

The trial was pretty intense, for real. Matteo's legal dream team, with Ava and Brian at the helm, literally jumped on every single loophole. They were throwing accusations left and right – malpractice against the Prosecutor, calling Dave a nasty manipulator, and even trying to pin an unethical conspiracy on Serena and her crew. They kept hammering home arguments about the recording being taken under extreme duress and the whole personal eavesdropping thing being illegal, trying to plant seeds of doubt in the Judge and jury's minds. But Prosecutor Harrison wasn't just sitting there. Nah, he hit back at every attack with straight-up undeniable facts. The testimonies from human trafficking victims that the police managed to save, forensic reports that totally backed up every single one of Serena's claims, and the biggest one – Matteo's own confession recording, played over and over with crystal clear context, wiped away all lingering doubts. Dave's calm testimony, paired with Milla an
