Under the bright afternoon sun, the beauty of its light spread gently over the busy Riveton city horizon as people went about their daily schedules.
At the far eastern part of the city, Drakon stood in front of an old house, staring at the building in concern and with emotions carefully concealed on his face. He was putting on a new T-shirt that he bought with a little money remaining from yesterday's shopping he did for his wife.. no his now ex-wife. "Finally, after a long time," an emotional tone left his mouth, "I never thought I would one day return to this place like this." As he gazed at the building, throwbacks of his childhood memories long gone were brought back to life. It was as if he could clearly see himself once again together with his parents, their lovely and caring smiles sparkling every time they looked at him, always making sure to create time to spend with him. The family tie. The undeniable love. A bond that once made his world complete. His heart trembled at the remembrance, as he did his best to hold back the emotions trying to break free from his chest. The building looked unkempt and abandoned for years; some parts of the walls were covered in spider web-like cracks and the paint was fading. It was a simple bungalow. Though his parents were billionaires, they were the simple type. Even though they could afford luxurious things, they chose not to, instead deciding to live their lives in simplicity. After their deaths, when he was still too young to care for himself, his grandfather took him away to live with the other Thornes. As he grew older, he chose never to return here, afraid of reopening old wounds. Only his grandfather visited occasionally. But as the world may have it, "What we abandon in peace, we are often forced to confront in hardship." Not holding back again, Drakon shook everything off his head. Stepping inside, the sitting room was filled with dust, but still carried the same familiar look as in the past. The old couches, the curtains, everything were still in place. "Dad and Mom, I miss you so much, your son is back here." At the side of the parlour was a large framed portrait of a man and woman with a little boy between them. Drakon's emotional eyes were fixed on the two smiling adults. He let out a loud, worrisome sigh, pressing his hand against his chest before slowly walking off to explore the rest of the house, each step heavy with sorrow. --- Meanwhile, across the city, in a very good looking restaurant. From the appearance only, anyone can tell it was a place only for the high-class wealthy fellows. Jason and Marianne sat close, clearly savoring their moment together.. "Enjoying yourself?" Jason asked with a smile, lifting his glass of red wine. "Wait..… are you seriously asking me that question for real?" Marianne let out a soft chuckle. "Why not? Of course, I am. In fact, I’m enjoying myself more than I imagined." "Hehe, sure, sure, sure, just as I planned it to be. I was worried you wouldn’t like it, now with that my heart is finally at ease," Jason leaned closer, placing a hand dramatically over his chest. "Come on, baby, don’t say that. I know it’s not easy to secure this whole place just for me." From the background, the calm and slow melody of a piano filled the air. "You know I will do anything to make my woman happy," Jason said warmly. "After all these years… I can finally be with you." "Me too. I can’t wait to be with you, Jason. You are the man I have always loved from the beginning," Marianne whispered, dropping her fork and knife as she gently reached out for his hand across the table. "But my family pushed me into marrying that bastard." "You don’t know how excited I am inside to finally be with the man of my dreams, ready to create an everlasting bond with you." A spark of longing and love flickered in her eyes as they locked with Jason’s. "Say no more. I’m the happiest man alive knowing you’re mine. It killed me all those years, watching you with that loser. But now… I can finally have you all to myself." They rose and held hands. The two were drawn deeper into their beautiful moment, slowly dancing in each other’s embrace under the colorful restaurant lights, until Jason’s phone rang out. "Your phone," Marianne told him. "Forget it, I don't want anything to ruin my time with you. It can wait until later, when I’m done spending my time with my woman," Jason replied, tightening his arm around her waist. Marianne blushed as she chuckled lightly. But a minute later, the call came in again. "Babe, just answer it. We don’t know if it’s something very important," she persuaded him. "I don't want you to miss something important because of me." Jason hesitated before finally replying, "Okay, since it’s what you want, I will gladly do it." He pulled out his phone, and when he saw the caller ID, his brow twitched. "One moment, my love," he excused himself, quickly moving to a quiet corner. The moment he answered the call: "What is wrong with you, Jason? What are you doing?" a female sharp voice drifted over. "I don’t understand. What am I doing?" Jason asked, confused. "What were you asked to do?" "I don't understand. It was already taken care of yesterday." "Bullshit! Are you trying to fool me? A few minutes ago, I got a call saying he was seen entering that filthy abandoned building." "What! Impossible!" Jason nearly shouted, his heart skipping a beat. "Those men gave me proof, they wouldn't dare play with me. I trust them and you are telling me you got a report of him or maybe the person that called you saw the wrong man." Jason disagreed, refusing to believe. "Jason, this is no joke. If not him, then who else would want to go to that damn place?" Listening to the voice, Jason was confused and at the same time doubting everything. "But I was forwarded evidence of him, which I will be sending to you right now if you think I’m fooling you." "I don't know what you are doing, but you better do something fast about it immediately." The lady did not give him the chance to reply back this time as the call ended. Jason was currently frowning. He quickly sent some pictures to the number that just called before rushing back to meet Marianne. "Baby, is something wrong?" Marianne asked, concerned spreading across her face as she noticed his troubled look. "Sorry, love but there is an emergency that needs my attention. I don't think…" Marianne immediately stood up, cutting him off in worry. "An emergency? Oh no, I hope it’s not something serious?" "I would be lying if I said it’s not serious," Jason replied, feigning a troubled look as he caressed her cheek. "Baby, I promise I will make it up to you another time. But right now, I need to get there quickly." "No problem, baby. Just go, we can always do this some other time," Marianne said with a supportive smile. Jason and Marianne quickly left the restaurant. Luckily, Marianne had brought her own ride. Jason entered his Ferrari, slamming the door shut with a complicated look on his face before stepping hard on the accelerator. He sped off onto the highway like an escaped mad man.Latest Chapter

Chp 7: Confusion
"Boss, the job was carried out neat and clean. Trust us, no cause for alarm," answered a tall, broad-shouldered man with a deep, gruff voice."Then what the hell is going on?!" Jason roared, pushing himself from the chair as his eyes burned venomously into the man. Before him in the room were three rugged, dangerous-looking men. The air filled with the smell of drugs and alcohol. The one with a snake tattoo coiled around his neck, who appeared to be their leader, took a slow drag from his wrapped substance, his gaze calm and unreadable. "Young master, you saw the evidence we sent. What else troubles you? Or you got another assignment for us?""Don’t feed me that nonsense!" Jason shouted, frustration clipped to his voice. "Then tell me, how the hell do you explain this that was sent to me a few minutes ago?"He thrust his phone toward them, the screen glowing with an image. The photo showed Drakon, very much alive, standing before an old-looking building."This was taken this afternoon

Chp 4: Shocking!
It was already morning. The morning sunlight struggled to reach a narrow alleyway, blocked by tall buildings on both sides. Beside a trash bin, a lone figure lay slumped on the cold, dirty ground."Bro, look over there. There's someone on the floor... what a fool.""Yeah. Just some drunk idiot who passed out after wasting himself all night.""What a shame. So young, yet already destroying his own life," one old man scoffed, pinching his nose in disgust."Heh, leave him. Let the wannabe drunk-star enjoy his great time."People passing by shook their heads at the scene, making jokes and throwing insults at the person. This figure was none other than the unconscious Drakon. To everyone who saw him, they assumed he had passed out from being too drunk."Ouch!"A pained groan escaped his lips as he slowly regained consciousness. His eyes fluttered open, blurry and confused."My head hurts..." he wailed, clutching his skull. He looked around. "What?! What am I doing on the floor?"Immediatel
