Chapter 26

Not up to five minutes after Charlie's words dropped, a sleek black Rolls-Royce glided into the compound, its tires new and smooth.

Eyes turned toward the direction, mouths opening slightly.

A knowing smile escaped Charlie's lips as he watched the car park in a spot.

Paul, who was once arrogant, seemed to pause, his body slowly shaking. Who's that? He muttered, becoming terrified. He secretly looked at Charlie, who stayed relaxed, his eyebrows rising in confusion. Are they here because of the call he made? And who's he that in the blink of an eye, they're here?

Rushing forward, the formidable man fell down on his head, bowing his head to the ground. “Young master Charlie, I'm Rick Wise. Mr. Donald sent me to rescue you. Who's that maniac daring you? Just point at the person, and their bones will be shattered.”

It was the old woman whom he had handed over Paul's apartment to, and after paying double the supposed rent. She was standing there with a small yet dusty square box. “What's that?" Charlie asked. “Please, come inside," he quickly added, stepping aside, letting the old woman slowly enter.“Please, sit down.”Charlie quickly dressed the bed, gesturing for her to sit down.“Thank you." Once seated, the woman held the box up, “Please, take it. It was given to me by my late mother,” she said, a small smile curling at the corners of her lips. Charlie took it and opened it, revealing a delicate string of multicolored glass beads. It shimmered under the light subtly, suggesting age and craftsmanship.“This? This is…..” Charlie's eyes went wide as he took out the necklace, observing it.“Yes, it's a Bajang pendant,” the old woman nodded, "it's a symbol of protection and fertility. My late mother handed

Chapter 50“This house belongs to my master, Mr. David Moore, and I'm in charge of everything here," the butler replied."Late Mr. David Moore,” the man corrected, nodding his head. Then he adjusted his suit before continuing. "For your notice, since you look clueless, I'm Mr. Jones Wei’s representative, who lent your boss a huge amount of money, which he promised to repay. But quite unfortunately, he couldn't before his son took his life. And according to the agreement, everything belonging to him automatically turns ours. That means, we're the legal owner of everything he had.” The butler gulped, speechless. David Moore had made mention of that before his death, but he didn't expect these people to be this heartless to come immediately after the property without prior notice.Without saying another word, he turned to the other man who had come with him, smirking widely. “Show him the papers. Let him see the evidence.”The man dres

" Yeah, he's the one. Guess, he called to confirm if I'm back home safely.”“Oh, I didn't know that or I should have thanked him properly," her mother replied. Then she stepped forward, reluctantly placing her hand on June's shoulder before adding, "J—June, I think Charlie's a good person. W—Why don't you give him a chance?” June narrowed her eyes at her mother, blinking in perplexity and disbelief. “What are you talking about, Mum? You don't even know him just yet and you're concluding he's a good person?” She felt a pang of disappointment. "Besides, we're just getting to know each other, so how could you possibly say I should give him a chance?”June knew her single life had been a burden to her parents, especially her mother. We both met at the restaurant today, remember?” He reluctantly added. "You didn't save my contact?”There was a brief pause from the other end. "Hello June, are you still there?” Charlie asked."I'm sorry, but this isn't June. It is the mum. What do you want?”Charlie shifted immediately on the bed, his heart almost skipping.
