Chapter 1: Am I Speaking with Young master Charlie?
Chapter 1It was 11:00 AM that morning at Maple City University, and the school was on break after finishing two lectures. A young, handsome man in his mid-twenties, dressed in a shabby, worn-out uniform, emerged from the class, walking through the hallway. The cuffs of his clothes were black, practically noticeable like they hadn't been washed for ages.Despite Charlie Jordan's handsome appearance, the passing students avoided him like a plague, staring at him with disdain. Some spitting out, faces twisted with outer frowns.“That's him. The popular campus trash picker I mentioned earlier. He's probably going to look for bottles to pick so he can sell them and have some money for himself,” one female student said with a cold tone, telling her friend.“Oh, yuck! He looks like it. But how could one feed himself with that?” the latter asked, slightly concerned.“Heard he's working part-time in a bar too.”The passing students were muttering among themselves, their voices filled with dis
Chapter 2: Break up
Chapter 2 The figure standing in front of Charlie was a tall beautiful lady, wearing a beautiful yet short red dress that was above her knees, revealing her fair thighs. She had a smooth, fair complexion, her eyes sparkling like diamonds. Her hair cascaded down her back, every strand perfectly in place. Her light make-up added to her beauty. This lady was no other than Megan Harold, Charlie's girlfriend, here on campus. They had been dating for the past three years now. Megan looked down at Charlie, disgust in her eyes. “Charlie, you are picking trash again? Aren't you tired of doing this?” She scolded Charlie coldly. Charlie blinked, slightly embarrassed. “I—” He opened his mouth to explain. But Megan cut him off, her expression icy. “Not interested in your silly explanation. You can continue to pick trash for all I care. But from today, I want to break up,” Megan uttered with disgust in her voice. “I don't want someone like you to be a stain in my life.” “Break up?” Charlie
Chapter 3: Franklin kicks Charlie in the stomach
Chapter 3 Megan threw herself shamelessly in front of Charlie, into the young man's arms, and declared, sweetness in her voice. “Charlie, meet Franklin, my new boyfriend. You're nowhere close to his wealth. I love him, not you.” She relaxed in his arms, pressing her head comfortably on his chest. Franklin Jones is the popular, wealthy student on campus. He is from a wealthy family. Naturally, he's proud and also a playboy, however, girls on campus had been dying to be with him. Megan was the beauty goddess on campus so she won him over. “Charlie,” Franklin called out, one hand casually relaxed in his pocket and the other wrapped around Megan, keeping her warm. “From now on, Megan is mine. She belongs to me and not you so I'm warning you, stay away from her or I'll have to visit an early grave,” he said wickedly. Charlie's face was red, his blood boiling, but he couldn't utter a word. He loved his life so he knew better than to be silent. Franklin had connections with dang
Chapter 4: Pay your rents!
Chapter 4 The woman was old, probably in her late sixties. Despite her chubby nature, she was very agile in terms of action. She was no other than Charlie's landlady. “Good afternoon, landlady,” Charlie greeted in a low voice, knowing the reason she was here. It is for her rent. The woman glared at Charlie and pointed her finger at him. “Scrap it, Charlie!” She growled. “I called you earlier and knew why I was calling, but you declined it!” Charlie quickly recalled his phone had rang for the second time after that scammer called him. He rejected it without glancing at it, thinking it was the same person. “I'm sorry, landlady, it wasn't intentional. I didn't know it was you,” he said apologetically. But the old woman gave him a fierce stare. “Keep that aside!” She stretched out her hand as if trying to receive something. “Hand it over. My rent! Where is it?” She demanded, not batting an eye. Charlie swallowed hard, scratching the back of his head. “Landlady, I…..” he started
Chapter 5: What? $50k?
Chapter 5 Charlie was frozen at first, his eyes winking. “You did what?” “Yes, Young Master. I just deposited it into your account. Hope you received it,” the man said. “You can check at the bank to confirm it if you don't believe it.” The man's voice was firm and Charlie couldn't help, but admit, stammering. “I—I received it, but thought it's fake. A clickbait.” “Oh no, Young master Charlie, it actually is not. It's real. I transferred it. Just check it out.” Charlie quickly ended the call without saying anything, anticipation in his eyes. “Is this really true? Or am I just imagining things?” He muttered. Then, he swiftly dialed his bank's USSD code. “Maybe, I should check it out using Duke's details.” Duke was his only best friend on campus. One who always stood by him no matter what. They do add up money together to buy food for themselves, so it was no hassle to put down his account details. Without hesitating, he hit the send button, transferring five hundred dollars to D
Chapter 6: It's real!
Chapter 6 Charlie furrowed his eyebrows at Duke. “What did you hear?” He asked, his voice soft. “Megan broke up with you after everything you did for her. Is it true?” Duke answered with wide eyes. Charlie let out a sigh, his voice barely above a whisper as he responded. “Please, Duke, I don't want to talk about bringing up something else.” Duke covered his mouth in astonishment. “So, it's true. After everything, the sacrifice you made to keep her happy and she heartlessly did that to you just to be with that rich brat. I can't believe it.” His face tightened as he glared toward Megan who was chatting with her friends. Gritting his teeth, he mumbled under an annoying breath, “She's a slut!” Duke then remembered something and he turned to Charlie, wrinkling his brows. “Man, what did you say came over you? Or is it because Megan broke up with you that you can't think straight? I didn't ask for money and you sent me $500 when you're the one who needs it. Don't you think you're taki
Chapter 7: Let's go the restaurant
Chapter 7 Everyone couldn't help, but laugh their asses off. Duke turned to Charlie, concern etched in his voice. “What do you think you're doing, Charlie? You're going to pay for six people? That's a whopping sum of three thousand dollars! Where will you get that from, man?” He whimpered. “I think this has to stop,” Stella said, stepping forward. “I came up with this just for fun, but what is all this?” She looked at Charlie, disbelief in her eyes. She believed he was only trying to save face, but he went too far. “You are going to pay for me, Duke, yourself, and three other persons? Do you know how much that is? That's $3k! Where would you get that from?” She inquired with a sigh. Charlie didn't respond to her, nor did Duke. He fixed his gaze on Franklin. “How about that? Are you gonna try it or back out cowardly?” “Is he so arrogant right now!” “I wonder what's giving him so much confidence!” “He's just trying to preserve some slight reputation. Franklin will beat him!
Chapter 8: Charlie visits Pinnacle Group
Chapter 8 The receptionist stepped forward, but did not get closer to Charlie because of his outfit. “Looking for someone in here? No, that can't be! It's the wrong address. Please, leave right now!” “No, it's not!” Charlie retorted firmly. “This is Pinnacle Group, isn't it? I'm at the right place. This is where the man says I should come.” The receptionist furrowed her eyebrows. “Which man are you talking about?” She demanded and continued, not giving Charlie the chance to reply. “I'm warning you, kid; leave this place now or I'll have the security guards throw you out!” She shouted, her voice rising now. But Charlie remained stubborn. “No, I'm not leaving unless I see him!” His life was about to change, and he wasn't ready to chicken out because of this receptionist's threat or arrogance. Charlie gritted his teeth and rushed toward the elevator. Seeing him going that way, the receptionist quickly yelled. “Stop right there, you pervert! Security security! Get him before he
Chapter 9: The Heir
Chapter 9 Charlie couldn't move, his eyes narrowing. “You can't be serious, are you?” He asked, stunned by Donald's seriousness. “I'm serious, young master Charlie!” Donald clarified. “You're inheriting everything. Just your signature is needed and everything will automatically become yours.” “Wait a minute. Are you sure about this?” Charlie couldn't help but remain skeptical. This thing has only happened in movies that he had once watched. He hadn't heard of such a thing happening in real life. And now…..this? It was like a dream. No, it can't be real! “Absolutely!” Donald nodded. “You have nothing to be afraid of, and you aren't daydreaming. Everything is real. You're inheriting everything.” Donald opened the file placed on the table and pulled out a document. “Here, come and sign. Don't be afraid.” He urged with a soft chuckle sensing Charlie's reluctance. Charlie winked, staring at the man. He isn't serious, is he? He muttered to himself, but then reluctantly stepped for
Chapter 10: You're fired!
Chapter 10 Back then, in his office after Charlie had left, Donald remembered he had ordered the security guards not to allow anyone to get to where he was because he was busy. And knowing how serious the security guards were with their duties, Donald knew something might be wrong downstairs. Because if Charlie could get himself to his office, it only meant one thing, and that is, he forced his way here, and the security guards wouldn't take it with him. Not just that, Donald remembered he forgot to give Charlie something so he quickly made his way to the next elevator to catch up with him. However, upon getting downstairs, his forehead broke with cold sweat when he saw Sarah slapping Charlie. The young master. The new chairman. How dare she! Sarah, unaware of what was happening, marched forward and arrogantly started, “Mr. Donald, thank God, you're here! Could you believe this poor brat here humiliates me in front of everyone here?” “Then?” Donald interrupted, expressionles
