CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

Austin was sweating so hard, his face flushed and his heart hammering very hard against his ribs. He was still hiding on Zelda’s balcony, frozen with fear. He never thought she would come back so suddenly. And now she was getting undressed. He was in a total panic.

His mind was a mess. Should I just show myself? Or keep hiding? If he stepped out now, there was no way to explain why he was hiding on her balcony. But if he stayed hidden and she took off all her clothes, he would feel like a total creep.

He wrestled with the decision, the sound of fabric rustling from inside filling his ears. He couldn't be sure if she was naked or not, but his eyes, almost against his will, drifted toward the open sliding glass door.

Her white shirt came off, and he saw her skin. It was so smooth. She wasn’t just pretty; she had a perfect body. The lacy lingerie she was wearing made her curves look even more incredible.

Austin couldn't help but take a deep breath. This was the second

Ken's voice was low, but anyone nearby could hear the cold anger in it. "Manager Tyler, a gold membership isn't just a silly card. I’ve spent millions of dollars here over the years! I use this restaurant to meet important people and close huge deals! You can't just wave your hand and end it!" Ken was deeply upset. He had worked hard and spent a huge amount of money to finally get that gold-level card. Manager Tyler didn't look angry, sad, or happy. His face was completely blank. "Mr. Ken, I am very sorry, but the order is final. It came directly from the owner. It has absolutely nothing to do with me. We must ask you to leave the premises now." Kelvin felt a sudden cold dread spread through his chest. He knew how important this membership was to Ken, but he also knew how much he needed Ken right

  • CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE

CHAPTER THIRTY_FIVEFiona zipped up her bag and walked out of the private room, her mind replaying the conversation she'd just had. Angela, after shooting Austin a final, heated glare, was right on her heels. The moment they were in the hallway, Angela grabbed Fiona’s arm, her face that of complete confusion and frustration."Fiona, are you serious? You're actually going to marry that jerk Austin?" she blurted out, her voice a low, urgent whisper. "Look at him! If you marry someone like that, your life will be a total mess. Don't you see that?"Fiona sighed, pulling her arm away gently. "I know, I know. But Dad’s company is in huge trouble. This is the only way to save it. You know that." Her voice was soft, barely audible over the chatter of the restaurant.Angela’s eyes widened, her expression full of disbelief. "But, Fiona, you’re so much better than him! I just can't stand the thought of you marrying him. It's not right," she insisted, her voice trembling with emotion."It doesn’t

  • CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

CHAPTER THIRTY_FOUR"Exactly my point," Fiona said, her voice slow and calm. "This is our first time meeting. If I just genuinely said, 'Yes, I'll marry you,' you'd think that was crazy, right? It's better to be clear about everything. This way, we both know what we're getting into."Austin Parker narrowed his eyes. "I don't see how this helps me at all. If you marry me, the Lawrence family gets money, and I get a wife. That's a fair deal. But your way, I'm just part of a fake marriage. The Lawrence family still gets the money, but what do I get?"Fiona was surprised by how quickly Austin understood. She didn't expect him to be so sharp."I know you need money," she said softly. "If you agree to my terms, I'll give you $5,000 a month to live on."Austin smirked. "So, you're just trying to pay me off?""Call it what you want," Fiona replied coolly. "With your money problems, $5,000 a month is a lot. Think about it. If you agree, we can get our marriage papers done any day."Angela, who

CHAPTER THIRTY_THREEThat was how Fiona suddenly found herself engaged to Austin, a man she'd never met and who, from the looks of it, was completely broke. After her father had explained the situation, Fiona went home and thought it all over. She decided that if giving herself up could save her family and the company they'd built from the ground up, then she would do it. She couldn't stand the thought of watching everything they had worked so hard for just fall apart, with her father ending up in jail.Besides, she figured that if a big foreign company wanted her to marry Austin, he had to be someone important. She expected a wealthy heir, someone whose name alone could save her family’s business. But here she was, standing in front of Austin—a man who looked like a total pauper. She had already given up on finding true love and had settled for a marriage that would bring her family money and stability. Now, it seemed Austin couldn't even give them that.Fiona just couldn't understan

  • CHAPTER THIRTY TWO

CHAPTER THIRTY_TWO“What?” Angela’s eyes went wide, and her jaw dropped. “That can’t be…”She stared at Fiona, her mind racing. Just moments ago, Fiona had mentioned that the person who booked the private room wasn't her, but her fiancé. Her fiancé, the one she’d never met. The one she’d been dreading meeting. Could that person really be Austin? The poor, ordinary guy they had just seen outside? It seemed impossible.Angela looked at Fiona, who was just as stunned. A look of pure disbelief crossed Fiona’s face, followed by a hint of fear.“Could Austin… could he be your fiancé?” Angela whispered, her hand flying to cover her mouth.Fiona shook her head slowly, as if trying to deny the truth. “No way. It has to be a mistake. The Lawrence family is well-known. My parents would never let me marry someone like him. He’s just… an average guy.”“I know, I know,” Angela said, her voice full of confusion. “But what if… what if something is going on that we don’t know about? He was just acting

After a moment, she decided to stay quiet. She'd call Manager Tyler later, after Austin had left, to try and fix things. She was sure Austin hadn't stolen anything. It was all just Angela's way of getting back at him.Suddenly, Austin's phone rang. He pulled it out and saw the name "Xavier" on the screen."Hello?" he answered.Everyone stared at him. Was he really taking a phone call right now? Shouldn't he be begging Manager Tyler to let him go? No one could figure out what was going on in his head.On the other end, Mr. Xavier's cheerful voice came through. "Master Parker, have you arrived?""Yeah, I'm here, but the manager is trying to kick me out," Austin said, sounding a little tired.
