“Move out today?” Martha's eyes lit up. “You mean it? As soon as we pay, you'll pack your things and leave before nightfall?”
“Yes. Transfer the three million to my account, and I'll hand over the house today.”
“Great! It's settled!” Martha clapped her hands and turned to Tamsin. “Did you hear that? Burl can move in tonight! Sian will be so happy!”
Tamsin grabbed her mother's arm and lowered her voice.
“Mom, wait. Don't transfer the money to him. Send it to my account first. I'll handle the deal with him, and the house will be transferred directly to my name.”
She was still trying to take control of everything.
“No way,” I said. “The money goes into my account. Otherwise, I'll call Desmond and cancel the deal. No money, no deed.”
Tamsin glared at me. “Calder, why are you making such a fuss? We're still legally married. What's the difference if the money goes through me?”
“I don't trust you. Pay me directly, or forget the whole thing.”
Martha's face changed. She quickly pulled out her phone.
“Fine! Fine! Just don't call the broker! Tamsin, stop arguing with him. Getting this house for Burl's wedding is what matters!”
Tamsin clenched her fists. She clearly wanted to argue, but she finally gave in.
“Fine. Give me ten minutes.”
She went out onto the balcony and started making calls. One of them was to Garrick Holt.
I waited in the living room.
Less than twenty minutes later, my phone chimed.
[Bank Alert: Wire transfer of $3,000,000.00 received.]
[Current Available Balance: $3,005,420.15.]
Three million dollars. Finally, the money was mine. Tamsin came back inside and lifted her chin.
“The money is in your account. Now sign the papers and give us the deed.”
I picked up the pen, signed the transfer form, and pushed the property deed across the table.
Martha grabbed it at once, smiling as if she'd just won the lottery.
“Wait, Calder.” Tamsin stepped in front of me and held out her hand. “Before you leave, give me the jadeite necklace.”
I looked at her. “The necklace?”
“Yes, the one you promised me for our anniversary. It was supposed to be my gift, so it belongs to me. Give it to me.”
My expression turned cold.
In my previous life, she'd used the same excuse to take the necklace my mother had left me. Later, during the apocalypse, that necklace gave her a spatial storage ability. She used it to store piles of supplies while I struggled to find food.
I had starved while she lived comfortably.
This time, she wasn't getting her hands on it.
“Dream on.”
Tamsin's face darkened.
“We can get divorced, but don't even think about taking that necklace. Nothing my parents left behind belongs to you.”
“Calder Reid, you shameless cheat!” she shouted. “You took three million dollars from my family, and you still want to keep the necklace?”
“It was never yours.”
Martha stepped forward and pointed at me.
“Enough! Take your clothes and get out within a day. If I see you here tomorrow, I'll throw every last thing you own into the garbage!”
I walked to the front door and pulled it open.
“Why wait until tomorrow? Get out. Both of you.”
Martha stared at me.
“What did you say?”
“You heard me. You have the deed, so take it and leave. I've got things to do.”
I stepped toward them. “Or do I have to throw you out myself?”
Martha took a step back. After seeing my expression, she quickly grabbed Tamsin's wrist.
“Come on. Let him pack his junk. The house belongs to us now anyway!”
Tamsin shot me one last hateful look before her mother dragged her into the hallway.
I slammed the door and locked it.
Finally, they were gone.
I hurried to the master bedroom and opened the safe hidden behind the wardrobe. Inside was a small, worn velvet box.
I opened it.
The jadeite necklace lay inside, its green surface shining under the light.
This was the keepsake my mother had left me.
I picked it up. A drop of sweat from my fingertip fell onto the jade.
Suddenly, a clear chime rang inside my head.
Ding!
[Doomsday Shelter system activated.]
[Initial temporal conversion window open: 60 minutes remaining.]
[Conversion Rule: Every $1,000 in reclaimed value grants 1 cubic meter of time-stasis storage space.]
A surge of energy rushed through my body. I stared at the necklace. The spatial ability was finally mine.
In my previous life, Tamsin had used this power to collect supplies and save herself. This time, I would be the one preparing for the apocalypse.
I hurried into the living room and looked at the Italian leather sofa beside the window.
“Recycle.”
A chime rang again.
Ding!
[Target item identified: Italian full-grain leather sectional.]
[Estimated market value: $30,000.]
[Item recycled. Storage space expanded by 30 cubic meters!]
A low hum filled the room.
The sofa disappeared.
One moment, it had been sitting beside the window. The next, only an empty patch of floor remained.
I focused on the space inside my mind.
The sofa was there, floating in a dark, silent void. It was still in perfect condition, as if time had stopped the moment it entered.
I could store things in this space, and they wouldn't spoil or change.
I looked around the four-million-dollar house.
Designer furniture, crystal chandeliers, expensive appliances, solid wood tables. There was plenty left to recycle.
I checked the countdown. 59 minutes remaining. I had to make every minute count.

Calder raised an eyebrow as he opened the suite door. With his phone hidden inside his jacket, he quietly switched on the voice recorder.“Won’t Garrick be unhappy that you came to see me?”Tamsin stiffened for a moment, but quickly put on a sweet smile. She stepped closer and rested a hand on his chest.“Why are you bringing him up? Garrick and I are just friends. We only keep in touch because of business, and he won’t mind me coming here.” She looked up at Calder with innocent eyes. “You know I’ve always loved you most.”Calder sneered inwardly. This woman could lie without even blinking, but he kept his expression gentle.“Have you been waiting long?”“Not at all. I wouldn’t mind waiting for hours if it meant seeing you.”“Come in first.”Tamsin followed him into the presidential suite. The luxurious furnishings and enormous windows caught her attention, and she could barely hide her envy. Calder had once been nothing more than a live-in son-in-law, yet now he could afford to stay

I’m taking it all now.”Calder placed a thick stack of cash on the counter, and the chef immediately called his staff into action. Chapter 11: The Base Defense and the Lingerie Scheme
Calder had spent the previous day dealing with Sian, leaving him little time to continue stockpiling supplies. Today, he intended to get back on schedule. Before placing more orders, however, he decided to visit Blackwood Ridge Homestead and check on the renovation work. When his truck pulled through the gates, he immediately noticed the changes. The reinforced shutters were installed over the windows, the boundary fences were topped with coils of razor wire, and heavy anti-ram barriers protected the entrance. Luke and his crew had finished the work just as promised.“Everything is done, boss,” Luke reported. “We've reinforced the weak points and checked every barrier. The place is much more secure now.”“Good work.” Calder handed him the remaining payment. “You and your men can head home and get some rest.”After Luke's crew packed their tools and left, a familiar notification sounded in Calder's mind.Ding![Task Completed: Fortify Base and Establish Initial Stockpile.][Reward: For
Chapter 10: The Bait and the Hotel Room Invitation
Tamsin flinched at her mother's words, her stomach twisting with anger.“Sleep with him? Mom, do you even care about my dignity? I'm your daughter!”“Dignity won't buy your brother a house or a car!” Martha snapped. “Besides, have you forgotten about Calder's mother's jade pendant? He agreed to give it to you, didn't he? That was his mother's most precious keepsake. If he really wanted nothing to do with you, why would he hand it over?”Tamsin fell silent. She had been so focused on the money and the trouble with Garrick that she hadn't considered this possibility.“Think about it,” Martha continued. “Calder is just throwing a tantrum because we pushed him too far. He still has feelings for you, or he wouldn't be willing to give you something so important. Put your pride aside and talk to him nicely. Once you win him back, his money and that villa will be within our reach again.”Tamsin bit her lip. The thought of lowering herself to beg Calder made her furious, but she couldn't ignor

“What do you mean, you can only have one woman?” Sian sat up in bed and pulled the duvet over herself, her face twisting with anger. “We spent the entire night together, and everything was fine! How can you still be thinking about Tamsin?”Calder turned away from the window and sighed. He wore a troubled expression, as though he had no choice in the matter.“You don't understand, Sian. Tamsin was my wife for three years. She keeps calling me, demanding that I take her back, and threatening to make trouble if I refuse. No matter how many times I tell her it's over, she won't leave me alone.”“That shameless woman!” Sian spat, her fingers tightening around the duvet. “She drove you out of your own home, and now that you've got money, she wants you back? What does she take you for?”Calder lowered his eyes and shook his head. “I don't want to get dragged into another fight with her. If she finds out about us, she'll make things difficult for both of us.”“Don't worry. I'll deal with her!
