Third Point Of View

"Holy Heavens!!!”

A loud scream escaped Sophia Rive's lips, and her eyes widened as if they were going to fall out of their sockets.

Her heart galloped inside her chest. What she just saw was enough to throw her off the cliff!!

“Who the hell are you?” She asked, her face pale with bewilderment. She almost stuttered as she spoke because her brain stopped processing her words.

“What are you doing here!” she yelled.

She ran her fingers through her hair, shaking it profusely as if she were about to go mad. All she needed was a fucking explanation about the disaster that was in front of her.

Her loud scream woke Logan up, and he slowly opened his eyes.

As the drapes slipped open, a shaft of sunlight pierced his eyes, causing him to groan in a low voice.

“Why are you screaming?” He asked, sitting upright as he rubbed his sleepy eyes with the back of his hand. “I almost lost my ears because of your scream. Next time, I won't like it if you do such a thing.”

“Who the hell are you? Answer me! And what are you doing with me by the time of the day! Also…” Sophia thundered, and she could not complete her words because her throat became hooked, making her voice trail off.

What she just noticed was madness! How could there be red blood stains on the bed sheets by this time of the day?

Her heart could not rest even a second and she kept shaking her head, muttering some words to herself.

“No, no, no! No, Sophia this can't be true. No!” She screamed and tried to prick herself countless times to reassure herself that she was just dreaming.

When she discovered that this was not a dream, she fell onto the floor, rolling from one end of the room to another as her chestnut-brown eyes widened.

She let out another ear-bursting scream that cut through the room.

“Holy heavens!! Nooooo!”

Her screams were loud enough to cause an earthquake. She sprung up from her bed and stared at the bloody man in front of her like she was a disaster.

“What is this? Tell me what this is before I lose my mind, you motherfucker!” she demanded, pointing her fingers to the stained bird sheet.

The sight of it was gore to her and she wanted to throw up. She knew that exactly it was but she pretended not to know what it was.

“What do you think? What does it look like?” Logan answered and Sophia shot up from where she was, storming towards him in anger.

She gripped him by the collar of his shirt with her fragile hands and stared dangerously into his eyes.

“I asked you a question, Mr! And all you can do is to respond with a question. Have you gone nuts or something?” She asked and Logan didn't try to free himself from her.

“Look, I really do not know what to….”

Sophia immediately cut him short as she gritted her teeth in between words.

“Just answer the damn question and stop beating around the bush! What is this? Tell me! Tell me before I lose my mind.”

“Your blood, of course,” Logan finally answered, and a thin, mischievous smile appeared on his lips.

“What! I guess I didn't hear you well. Can you come again? You mean…we…did…” Sophia asked and she paused as realization suddenly hit her hard.

This was more crazy to her than she imagined.

“Yes, it is what you are thinking. We did it. We got intimate somehow and…”

“Oh, God! You! You bloody son of a pig!” Sophia cursed under her breath, kicking Logan off the bed.

Her teeth sunk into her lips that she didn't mind if some drops of blood trickled her. Right now, she was angry. Her eyes were red with anger and the air that came out of her nostrils was so hot that it might scald a skin.

If only it were possible to tear Logan into pieces, leaving not a single flesh in his body, Sophia would have done so a long time ago.

Logan fell to the ground with a loud thud, glaring at Sophia, who clutched the duvet tightly against her chest.

As she held tightly onto the duvet, her fingers clenched and unclenched like they had minds of their own.

Her eyebrows knitted together, and her jaw was locked so tight, and the little sound of the clock seemed to get her more mad!

“You took advantage of me. How dare you? How dare you do this without my permission?” She yelled.

Her hands rested on the first item that her eyes came in contact with.

It was her bag. An expensive Hermes Birkin.

Without thinking twice, she began to hit him with the bag, making sure that she didn't miss even once.

“Listen to me and stop acting without listening to what I have to say. I didn't take advantage of you! I swear, I didn't!” Logan shouted at the top of his voice, but Sophia didn't care. She kept on hitting him with her bag as she breathed heavily .

“You fucking seduced me! How is that my fault?”

His last words made her come to a halt and she shot deadly stares at me.

If glares could kill, Logan would be six feet below the ground! That was not debatable.

“Do I look dumb to you?” Sophia asked, calmly even though one could clearly feel the raging venom in the top of her tongue.

Her voice was already getting strained because of how much she had been screaming but she didn't stop.

The only thing she wanted was to get rid of the demon in front of her.

“What do you take me for? A fool? A fool that you can just tell random words and she would believe? Ohh… I do not blame you. I guess that's how you see me.”

“Believe it or not, but you seduced me last night.” Logan responded so calmly to her harsh words.

“Liar! Any more words and I will get a knife and dig it into your skin. You do not deserve to live! You are a pervert! A fucking rapist! I will call the cops on you! I swear, I will.”

Sophia's cheeks burned with embarrassment as she grabbed her phone, ready to call the cops.

“You can go ahead and call the cops.” Logan said with a lazy shrug. From the look on his face, he was already tired of everything that was happening.

“ I guess I am at fault for bringing you to this hotel after what happened to you back at the club.”

“What are you talking about?” Sophia asked and she snapped her head around to see that they were indeed in a hotel room.

He was right! Her stomach rumbled aggressively after that discovery and she could not look at him in the air.

“ You were drugged.” Logan replied calmly.

She gasped as the memories of the previous night came flooding into her head like an open tap.

Last night, she was supposed to meet with an important client who could make or break her family's company, Riven Holdings. That was an important meeting and the fate of her company lay there.

Unfortunately for her, the client wanted to have his way with her, so he drugged her.

Sophia managed to escape with the bit of sanity she had left in her, but the client was persistent and he sent his men after her.

His men didn't take time in getting her in their grips, but Logan was the one who saved her from them.

He brought her to a hotel, but she ended up seducing him.

Sophia's cheeks heated up as embarrassment flooded through her. She realized that everything he said was true and she was the fool here.

She had indeed thrown herself to an ordinary man like Logan!

She became lost in words as she got down from the bed, ready to leave the hotel room.

So many things were running through her head as she still could not believe her eyes.

Anger gushed through her at the same time, hatred and the fact that she was also embarrassed made everything worse.

Sophia wished the ground could open and swallow her as a whole. She didn't deserve to live and she could attest to that.

In her entire life, she had never been intimate with any man before, but she lost it all in just a single night.

She had given her pride as a woman to an ordinary stranger, whom she knew nothing about!

The thought alone almost brought tears to her eyes.

“I can see that you have got your senses back. It's quite easy. Since this was all a mistake, we should forget about it and go our separate ways. Let's pretend none of this happened” Logan said, putting on his trousers and buttoning up his shirt which had been left unbuttoned for a while.

“I can't let you go,” Sophia started, still glaring at him. Her eyes were on him as though she was trying to read what was going on in his mind.“ What if you were paid to ruin my image and take videos of me when I was under the influence of the drug?”

Logan, who was fully dressed and about to leave the hotel room, stopped and turned his head towards her.

He could not believe this woman!

What does she take him for? A pervert! She actually took him as a percent(

“ Like I said, it was a mistake, and why would I take pictures and videos of a naked woman under the influence of drugs? That's just stupid.” He said, not trying to defend himself in any way.

“You want me to believe that? You really want me to believe that? Look, let this sink into your empty skull. I can't believe perverts like you!” Sophia yelled. “You might look innocent on the outside, but who knows what you are capable of doing?”

Logan chucked slightly, everything happening was becoming too amusing for him to handle.

“Can I get something straight? You want us to spend some time together? Or do you want to keep seeing my handsome face?”

“What!!!” She blurted out, not believing her ears.

“ Yes, I think you are in love with me. I can see it written all over you,” Logan pushed as he flashed her a charming smile.

“Ewwww! I was right, pervert! You are indeed shameless! I can't believe this!” Sophia spat out as she quivered with anger.

This guy was driving her crazy! Can you look at this?

“Shameless you say? Oh, dear. I'm not. I'm far from that!” Logan chucked, throwing his head backwards. “ If I was indeed shameless, I would have threatened you and received at least a million dollars from you.”

“ You…!”

“That is the best way used to describe shamelessness.” Logan smiled and his brows arched. His bloody eyes were filled with so much confidence and arrogance that one would wonder where he got it from.

Sophia gnashed her teeth and she clenched her fists fiercely by her side.

This was all her fault. If only she had been able to control herself last night, all this would not have happened.

If only she didn't drink the wine from her client. If only…

“ Trust me, if I get to hear about what happened between us…” Sophia threatened and she stopped. Her eyes pierced and searched into Logan's eyes before she continued.

“ I will haunt you, even to the end of this earth. I will make sure I make you useless to my satisfaction.”

“ You don't have to worry about all of that. I know how to keep a secret. I'm not a blabbermouth.” Logan answered with a shrug.

“ Now, get out of here!” She commanded. Sophia could not wait to send Logan away, as the sight of him made her even more angry.

“I never in my life want to see you again!”

“If you say so, I will gladly leave.” Logan said, grinning widely. He took a card from his pocket and threw it at the bed.

“ If you think I will go back on my words, call me. That's my business card. I think you will need it”

With that said, he walked casually towards the door, but….Sophia words stopped him.

“Idiot! I know low lives like you.” Sophia started, staring at Logan's back with disgust and disdain. “ They always love to leech off wealthy people!”

Logan's hold on the door knob tightened, despite he didn't turn around to look at her. He had had enough of this nonsense.

His demeanor suddenly changed, and the aura surrounding him became dark.

“I won't tolerate you calling me a lowlife.” His deep hoarse voice reverberated inside the room. “ After all you threw yourself at me, not the other way round. Respect yourself, woman.”

The man’s voice was distorted by the visor, deep and mechanical, but the intent behind his words was sharp enough to slice through Sophia’s bones and send Chills through her. Her first instinct was to run. Her second was to scream.Neither would save her.The figure tilted his head, studying her like an object in a lab jar. “I’m actually seeing you in the flesh. It’s an honor,” he murmured, almost to himself, before taking a slow step forward.Sophia’s grip tightened on the respirator mask. “I don’t know who you are,” she said, her voice shaking despite her effort to sound firm. “But you’re making a mistake.”He chuckled—a cold, humorless sound. “It’s no mistake, I assure you. You’re worth more than the Cold Cell, more than Cipher… more than you even realize.”Sophia’s mind spun, confused. What did he mean? Worth more than Malachi in what way exactly? Before she could ask, movement flickered behind him.A blur of black and steel.Malachi.He moved like he was a part of the shadow

.The early morning dew clung to the windows of the safehouse, blurring the skyline of Apex City like a dream fading into daylight. Sophia stood by the narrow window in her borrowed grey sweater, fingers wrapped tightly around a mug of steaming coffee. She wasn’t sure when she’d last slept. Her eyes felt heavy, but her mind was razor sharp.Behind her, the soft sound of boots on steel floors echoed faintly.“I thought you’d be in the war room,” Malachi said from the doorway.“I needed air,” she murmured, without turning. “But we’re underground. So, I settled for mist and silence.”Malachi stepped into the room, his presence solid, grounded. “You’re scared.”His voice was soft and filled with warmth. She turned to face him. “I’m not scared,” she said quietly. “I’m furious… I know I can’t afford to be scared now.”He studied her quietly, then gave a single nod. “Good.”Sophia walked toward him, the light catching the slight tremble in her hands. “This Gina woman… I trusted her. She ga

Sophia sat on the edge of the bed, fingers trembling against her lap. She hadn’t moved for what felt like hours, her eyes still fixated on the closed door.Logan—no, Malachi—was out there somewhere, carrying the weight of a name that sounded more like a code than a person. Cipher. The man she had insulted, degraded, underestimated... now bore the reputation of a war legend feared in the highest circles of global power. And she had married him.No. She had bought him.The shame clung to her like oil, refusing to wash off, no matter how many times she mentally apologized. The silence in the room was deafening until it was broken by the soft beep of a touchscreen panel near the bed. A message blinked on the screen:> “Report to Command Hall – Level 3. Urgent.”Her stomach twisted. She stood, straightened her blouse, and slipped on the flats someone had laid neatly beside the door. There were no guards posted in the hallway, just silent, blinking lights embedded in smooth walls. Everythin

“Who are you?” Sophia asked, her voice shaky.“Move,” the man said again, stepping closer. His helmet reflected the flickering hallway lights. “We don’t have much… soon, their backup will come running in.”A groan behind her made Sophia turn around. One of the men in black suits was beginning to come to.Sophia didn’t wait for anymore urging, grabbing her phone off the nightstand and followed the armored figure into the hallway. The elevator was out. The man pointed at the stairs. “Down. Fast.”Sophia grimaced at his rude tone but she did as she was told. They moved in silence, her bare feet slapping against the cold marble steps. She was struggling to keep up with her rescuer and he wasn’t winded unlike her, even as they hit the tenth floor, then the sixth.“Who sent you?” she managed to ask between pants.A pause. “Someone who hasn’t stopped watching your back.”That made her falter. She slowed, just a fraction, but he noticed.“You’re going to have to trust me, Sophia.”And it

  • CHAPTER 47

The glass wall of the Volkov Tower glimmered as the first rays of sunlight spilled against the polished floors. Silence draped the entire thirty-seventh floors like a velvet curtain, broken only by the rhythmic ticking of the antique clock mounted behind the massive obsidian desk. Malachi Volkov— he had decided to use his real name now that he knew it—stood facing the skyline, his hands tucked behind his back, posture stiff, contemplative. He hadn’t slept.Sleep had become a luxury now, one he couldn’t afford now. Not when the world believed he had perished three years ago, and his enemies still breathed.A knock echoed softly.“Enter,” he said, his voice flat, low, but powerful. The door creaked open and Mr. Eric stepped in, holding a tablet, his expression tense. “Sir… news from Apex.”Malachi turned, face unreadable.Eric hesitated, then handed over the device. “The Riven Holdings Board has filed for emergency bankruptcy protection. Malachi stepped forward, slow and composed. The sound of his boots against the floor was louder than it should’ve been. He reached for the terminal at the side of her chair and deactivated the neural cuffs with a sequence only someone of his clearance could’ve known. The shackles hissed open and her wrists fell free. But he didn’t reach out to hold her, didn’t ask if she could walk and didn’t even bother to touch her.Instead, he leaned in, his voice low enough that it seemed to echo inside her bones.“Now,” he said, his breath like frost, “you’ll see the man you threw away.”Her eyes widened. Not because of fear but because she suddenly realized just how little she knew him.Her lips trembled, but no words came. No apology. No denial. He didn’t wait for either. He turned his back to her without hesitation and walked out of the cell, the door still open behind him.And for the first time in her life, Sophia Riven felt truly abandoned. Not in body but in meaning. Her wrists were free.
