Kenneth stood by the glass window in his office, watching the street below. His phone rang. He picked it up. “I need a plan that will not fail this time,” he said.

The voice on the other end replied calmly. “You want him alive or dead?”

Kenneth answered, “Alive if possible, but I don’t care anymore. Malachi must not see the next sunrise.”

“Then use someone he trusts,” the voice said.

Kenneth frowned. “He trusts no one.”

“There is one,” the voice replied. “Agent Darien. They fought side by side in the last war. Darien owes me a debt. I can make him cooperate.”

Kenneth turned from the window. “Find him. Bring him here.”

The call ended. Kenneth placed his phone on the desk and rubbed his temples. Katherine walked in a few minutes later.

“You called for me,” she said.

“Yes,” Kenneth said. “I’ve decided to use Malachi’s past against him. There’s an agent named Darien. He used to fight beside Malachi. If we can make him send a message, Malachi will follow it without question.”

"I can’t stay here long,” Malachi said, voice low.“You should not stay at all,” Tara replied as she tore a strip of cloth. “This place smells like it has been empty for years.”“I need time to think,” he said. “And to patch this.” He lifted his shirt and showed the wound.Tara did not flinch. “This looks deep. You should let me stitch it properly.”“I will be fine,” he said. “Just clean it.”She dipped the cloth in water and pressed it to the cut. “You will get an infection if you do this wrong.”“I have done worse,” he said.Tara worked without hurry. “Tell me where it hurts.”“Here,” he said, pointing. “But it will not stop me.”“You are bleeding,” she said. “You will pass out if you keep walking.”“I will not sleep until this is over,” he said.“You promised Ramesh you would be careful,” Tara said. “Didn’t you?”“Promises mean little on a battlefield,” he said.“That is not an answer,” she said. “You owe him your life. He sent the drive.”“He sent the drive because he trusted me,”

One smiled too widely. “Colonel, we come with news.”Ramesh did not rise from his chair. “Sit and speak.”They sat. The taller one leaned forward. “We only want to talk about old contracts.”Ramesh watched their hands. “You work for whom?”The shorter man laughed. “We work for those who pay.”Ramesh’s fingers tightened on the armrest. “Tell your employer that I do not sell out old debts.”The taller man reached under his coat. The sun was high when Malachi entered the Afas capital. The city was crowded, the air thick with noise and movement. He drove an old truck and his new identity papers hidden under the seat. To everyone around him, he was now Ravi Singh, an arms dealer from the southern province. He parked near an old warehouse and stepped out. Two men in black jackets approached him. One of them spoke quickly. “Ravi Singh?”Malachi nodded. “That’s me.”“The boss wants to see you,” the man said. “He’s inside.”Malachi followed them through a narrow path that led into the warehouse. Inside, several workers were sorting boxes. A man stood near a table, smoking. Inside a dimly lit room, the air was still. Lord Vikran sat on a golden chair, cigar smoke rising slowly around him. A large screen in front of him showed the faces of three dead men. None of the lieutenants in the room dared to speak.Vikran broke the silence. “They were all killed by one man. The God of War.” His voice was calm but firm.Sadiq, one of the lieutenants, stepped forward. “Sir, Malachi has become a serious threat. He has destroyed three of our outer groups. If we don’t act fast…”Vikran raised his hand. “If we don’t act fast, you will be the next to die. Do you understand me?”Sadiq lowered his head immediately. “Yes, sir.”Vikran rose from his chair and placed the cigar on the edge of the table. “Malachi thinks he can destroy everything I have built. I will make sure his name disappears before sunrise.”He turned to Kenneth and Katherine, who were standing together near the corner. “You two will lead the next move.”Kenneth straightened his posture. “What’s the command
