“Y-you... saved me?”

Watching the zombies surrounding her fall one by one, the woman could only stare at Adrian in shock.

“This isn't over yet!” Adrian shouted, throwing her sword toward her. “If you really want to thank me, you'd better help me draw their attention!”

With that, Adrian quickly retreated again, putting some distance between himself and the zombies.

The woman said nothing. She simply resumed swinging the sword in her hand.

Slash!

Slash!

Slash!

Previously, she hadn't been able to reach her sword, leaving her helpless against the horde. Now that she had it back in her hands, there was nothing left for her to worry about.

“This time, I won't let a single one of you survive!”

Stab!

Stab!

Stab!

While the woman continued swinging her sword like a madwoman, Adrian kept aiming his arrows at the zombies' heads.

[Your arrows have run out. Upgrade your capacity to unlimited for 200 Energy Stones?]

The System's voice rang out.

“Damn it! That much?”

He had already lost 100 Energy Stones earlier, and now he had to spend even more?

However, facing hundreds of zombies, it was impossible for him not to activate this feature.

He pressed the button on the screen. A golden light enveloped the quiver on his back, and moments later, it automatically refilled with arrows.

“No matter what happens, I have to wipe them all out!”

Adrian couldn't afford to leave a single zombie alive. If even one survived, it could attract another wave of zombies to this place. He had to prevent that from happening.

Meanwhile, on the other side.

Slash!

More than ten minutes had passed, and the woman was beginning to run out of stamina.

“Damn it! Why do they seem endless?”

The zombie corpses lying on the ground had piled up into a towering heap. Even so, more zombies continued to arrive as though there were no end to them.

“Something's strange!” she thought, watching Adrian. “Why are these zombies only attacking me? Why aren't they going after him?”

It wasn't that she wasn't grateful for the man's help. She simply couldn't understand why this was happening only to her.

“Your armor is splattered with their blood!” Adrian shouted, as though he understood her confusion. “If you want to get out of their encirclement, throw it on the ground!”

The reason the zombies weren't approaching Adrian was that no blood splatter or anything else had touched his body.

He had actually wanted to explain this to her earlier. He just hadn't been sure she would listen.

The armor she was wearing had cost a great many Stones. There was no way she would simply throw it away.

And it seemed his suspicion had been correct.

“Are you kidding me?” the woman shouted back. “I'm never doing that!”

This armor was her only means of defense. Without it, how could she possibly survive these monsters?

Adrian said nothing more. He simply continued aiming his arrows at the zombies.

“Fine!” the woman snorted.

She was exhausted. She didn't want to fight any longer.

With nimble movements, she threw the steel plates covering her body onto the ground one by one, keeping only her helmet.

And sure enough, instead of approaching her, the zombies now leaped toward the ground and swarmed around her discarded armor.

“Why are you still standing around? Let's go! What are you waiting for?”

The woman prepared to flee, but Adrian remained where he was.

“That won't work. I'm afraid they've already marked your scent. If we leave even one of them alive, it's only a matter of time before it brings its horde to find you.”

That left Adrian with no choice but to take the final measure: wipe out every last monster.

[Unlimited Arrow Fire activated. 300 Energy Stones consumed.]

He aimed his bow toward the sky and released an arrow into the air.

Then, a second later, hundreds of arrows descended from above like rain.

Whoosh!

Stab!

Stab!

Stab!

The arrows struck the zombies' heads and necks with incredible precision, knocking them to the ground one after another.

After a while, not a single one of the Undead could be seen moving.

The Weapon Altar really is incredible!

Adrian exclaimed inwardly, his eyes wide with astonishment and excitement.

The shop window displayed on his screen offered a wide variety of weapons and attacks. Although they consumed a great many Energy Stones, they were well worth the price.

“I'm probably the only one who has a shop window like this, right?”

Every Lord had a different shop window, depending on the status of their Shelter. The higher its tier, the more powerful and impressive the items they could purchase.

With a Bronze-level Shelter, Adrian should have been worried that he wouldn't be able to buy good weapons.

But now, that was no longer a concern.

“The higher my Shelter's tier becomes, the more weapons I'll be able to choose from, won't I? This really isn't bad at all!”

While Adrian stood there in amazement, the woman had already collected all the Attribute Stones from the zombies' corpses.

“I don't think there's any reason to stay here anymore. Let's find somewhere safe.”

“Not yet. There should be something we can take with us.”

Adrian looked around until his eyes settled on two wooden chests not far from where they stood.

“Look,” Adrian said, pointing toward them.

“Huh? What's that?” the woman exclaimed before moving to follow him.

“Killing zombies is a mission in itself. If you complete it, you'll receive a chest like this,” Adrian explained, placing his hand on one of the chests.

He knew this because, back in the old world, he had often seen groups of survivors hunting zombies to obtain rewards.

“I hope what's inside won't disappoint me!”

Creeak!

With great anticipation, Adrian lifted the lid of the chest with both hands.

Golden light immediately shone from within.

This was the first time he had obtained one. He hoped he'd get something...

“What is this?”

Adrian frowned, confusion clearly written across his face.

All that lay inside was a small iron box about the size of his palm. Its surface also looked rusty.

“All right. At least I'll be going home with something,” he muttered.

What he really wanted was food seeds or anything else he could eat.

Even so, he picked up the box and tucked it into his pocket.

“It's better than getting nothing, right?”

The young woman laughed teasingly at Adrian's expression.

“My turn! Just watch! I'm sure I'll get something valuable!”

She lifted the lid of her chest, but no golden light appeared. However, the moment she saw what was inside, she burst into loud laughter.

“Look! I told you I'd get something, didn't I? Never doubt my boundless luck!”

Inside was a box of hot pot ingredients containing meat and noodles. In this starving world, its value was far greater than gold.

“That's not fair!” Adrian cried, shaking his head.

Gurgle!

Gurgle!

Adrian swallowed hard as his stomach growled again, this time even louder.

“I know you're starving,” the woman said. “I don't mind sharing with you.”

As soon as she finished speaking, a sly glint suddenly appeared in her eyes.

“But on one condition.”

“You do realize you've interrupted my morning, don't you? Arthur, you'd better not disappoint me.”“I would never do that, my lord.”The white-haired man bowed before presenting the holographic screen in his hands to Kaelen.“My lord, look! Of the ninety-nine shelters, only eighteen remain! That means the number of people opposing you has decreased significantly!”“Excellent!”A broad smile spread across Kaelen's face before he burst into laughter. As a lord, he could actually open his own screen and see what was happening for himself. But, of course, he was too lazy to do so.“With so many lords surrendering to me, wouldn't it be more appropriate to consider me a king rather than a mere lord?”That was what he thought.“Besides, why should I bother checking everything myself? That's their job! As my subordinates, they're the ones who should take care of it for me!”All he had to do was relax and enjoy himself while others handled everything. Just as they were doing for him that morni

“So these will be exchanged for Bronze-tier soldiers? No problem. With them joining my forces, my army will only continue to grow.”After all the bear and Abomination corpses had been thrown into the altar, only the zombie corpses remained. Although they were the most numerous, they were also the lowest-tier monsters.Even so, the thought of a massive army of undead soldiers marching before him made Adrian’s heart race with excitement.“What? No soldiers are appearing?”His expression immediately changed when ten zombie corpses were thrown in, yet nothing emerged.Instead, the altar produced a hundred Attribute Stones. That meant he would receive ten Stones for every zombie corpse.“All right. It’s fine. At least I’m getting something out of this.”Although he couldn’t hide his disappointment, it wasn’t as though he had gained nothing. There were around three thousand zombie corpses, which meant he had now obtained thirty thousand Attribute Stones.“With reserves like these, I won’t h

“Your strategy was truly brilliant, my lord!”Yemima was helping several injured undead soldiers rest in a special room on the first floor. Around half of the army had sustained serious injuries. Although none of them were life-threatening, the soldiers still needed complete rest to recover.“We managed to kill so many monsters! We didn’t let a single one of them escape!”Drake spoke excitedly. Although his facial expression was difficult to read, consisting of nothing more than a skull, his voice was filled with joy.“I can hardly wait for the next Evernight!”Jaxon was quick to add his own comment. Both generals had also suffered serious injuries after fighting the Blood Bears. However, compared to the victory they had achieved, their injuries meant nothing.“Get some rest.”Adrian patted his generals on the shoulders, a broad smile spreading across his face.“You fought very well tonight. You deserve some rest.”A faint light appeared in the eastern sky. Sunrise was approaching.Al

“Yemima said the monsters’ withdrawal was deliberate preparation for Evernight, didn’t she? That means if we’ve encountered everything from zombies to bears, there’s a good chance those are the very monsters that will come after us, right?”An hour before Evernight began, Adrian had already devised a plan to lure as many monsters as possible toward his shelter. He hadn’t done so without making preparations.“Zombies and Abominations are still manageable. Those Blood Bears are the hardest ones to defeat.”His undead army would have no trouble holding back the zombies and Abominations. But as for the bears, only Yemima would likely be able to deal with them.“But with the turrets’ help, it shouldn’t be a problem either,” Darla said. “Even if the cannons can’t kill the bears, they should certainly be able to scare them away.”Darla was simply trying to be realistic. Killing a bear was extremely difficult. Scaring one away was already a considerable achievement. There was no need to kill

Growl!Emerging from the mist, an Abomination appeared, wielding a hammer and a mace. It wasn't just one or two. A dozen of them emerged simultaneously.“Huh, trash! If all you can do is rely on your body to attack me, then you deserve to die!”Slash!Slash! The Northern General swung his arms in succession, his sword flashing through the air at incredible speed. With a single flurry of strikes, two Abominations collapsed to the ground, their bodies severed.Slash!Slash!Elsewhere, the Southern General did the same. Leaping into the air, he managed to cleave through two Abominations at once before immediately turning to attack another monster. At Gold tier, fighting these Silver-tier monsters posed no difficulty whatsoever.More Abominations continued to emerge. To deal with them, both generals moved with greater alertness and speed, covering their soldiers whenever necessary.Growl!Another growl, deeper and louder than before, echoed from within the mist.Rather than feeling afraid

“The countdown begins.”The game system's voice echoed across the sky as the giant digital display showed 00:00:10.“Ten.”“Nine.”“Eight.”“Seven.”“Six.”Inside the room, Darla watched the computer screen and saw that the mist was now only a few hundred meters away from the outer perimeter. Given its speed, there was no way the countdown above them could be wrong. In just a few seconds, it would reach them.“Five.”“Four.”At the same time, Adrian stood in the second-floor lobby with his arms folded, his gaze fixed straight ahead. His expression was cold, and his eyes conveyed nothing but calm composure. The point in front of him marked the outer boundary of the region. And the fact that his greenhouse faced directly toward it seemed to suggest that the structure had been designed to confront the monsters that were about to arrive.“If a lord has truly been brought to this New World with the destiny of exterminating monsters, then so be it. I'll fight every last one of them.”“Three
