Chapter 26 : a Doomed Future

Ataparag grabbed my arm just to hold me back while pleading, "Let her speak, Ataparag," she intervened.

She immediately asked me why I said that we would all die after winning the game.

"The truth is, you won't die because of the game, but because of the war that took place while you were away playing."

I informed them that while they were away playing inside the tower, the dark lord Halloween had invaded her land, mercilessly conquering all the towns belonging to Sei.

"It only took Halloween three days to destroy your five towns," I added.

The moment they stepped out of the game, they would find a ruined town, and most of their citizens would be dead.

"Because of the damage you sustained, you wouldn't be able to withstand Halloween's forces. No, that's wrong—even if you were in prime condition, you wouldn't stand a chance against Halloween's power."

"Halloween couldn't invade your town because of Asusa's magic, but when Asusa joined you in the game, the magic barrier protecting the town from his crimson item was broken."

"That is why I am begging you: if you aren't going to join the rampage, please guard the town when he attacks."

Sei didn't answer what I said and stood up from her seat. A moment later, she silently walked toward me and stood right in front of me.

"Your story is wonderful, but what does Halloween want with us, seeing as his territory is so far from mine?"

"None other than the oblivion staff," I answered seriously.

I mentioned that Halloween had long been searching for the oblivion staff, which belonged to his wife, and upon learning that it was in her possession, he would attempt to take it back.

The oblivion staff had the ability to amplify any black magic cast through it.

"You know the terrible consequences it would bring to Endoryo if Halloween managed to take it back, which is why you refused to give it up and fought to the end."

Sei had managed to steal the oblivion staff from one of Halloween's children during a mission, making her a primary target for the dark lord who sought to reclaim it.

She would be made to taste suffering and despair in the impending battle, serving as a warning to anyone else who dared defy the dark lord Halloween.

"Your heroism and courage in trying to save everyone will go to waste because you will die—along with the sixteen generals of your forces—at Halloween's hands, and he will succeed in his objective."

I wanted to keep talking, but Agane slammed her hand on the table and demanded that I stop.

"Stop right there! I've been holding back this whole time, but I won't let this disrespect in front of Her Majesty pass any longer," she shouted.

"Your Majesty, you shouldn't allow a lowly creature like this to insult you and make up stories just to toy with you," she added.

Sei showed no reaction to what I had said, merely raising her hand slightly to signal Agane to stop speaking.

Ataparag immediately grabbed my hands, and even without words, I could see in her eyes that she wanted me to be quiet.

I looked back at Sei, hoping she would listen, but from the look of it, she wasn't taking my words seriously at all.

I wasn't entirely sure if they would believe me, and I was also worried that Ataparag might get into trouble because of what I was doing, so I let out a deep sigh to calm myself down.

"I don't want to get caught up in the trouble that's coming, and to be honest, I'm only here because I need to save Suwi."

"Do you think I like doing this? I know I'm just a weak human, and I'm afraid of getting hurt by what I'm doing, but I can't just stay silent and let people get hurt," I added.

"If that's the case, then shut up and get out of here," Agane yelled.

I fell silent, holding myself back from continuing because I knew I couldn't afford to get mixed up in what was to come.

A moment later, I bowed my head and apologized for my actions.

"I'm sorry for what I did, and just to clarify, I have no intention of causing trouble—I only wanted to help," I murmured, keeping my head bowed.

A moment passed, and Sei sighed.

"I don't know how you found out about the Rampage, but regardless, some of the details you are giving are incorrect."

She explained to me that even without Asusa, a magic caster, present in the town, the powerful barrier protecting against the effects of crimson items would not change.

It wouldn't be easy for Warlord Halloween's forces to get here either, as they would have to pass through another dark lord's territory before reaching her town.

"Halloween wouldn't dare cross Serenity's territory just to attack Galica."

"And besides, I do not have the oblivion staff you speak of, nor have I ever faced this child of Halloween you mentioned," she stated.

I was completely shocked to hear this because it seemed impossible for me to be wrong about what I knew. Had history changed, or was what was destined not going to happen exactly the way I knew it would?

I couldn't believe it, yet I had no proof or real knowledge of whether the events written in my comic would actually come to pass.

"Insolent wretch! You deserve to die for fabricating lies in front of the Queen."

Agane shouted again, demanding that Sei punish me for making up stories.

"Calm down, Agane," Sei stopped her.

"But, Your Majesty?"

"I was the one who gave him permission to speak before me, so you cannot punish him. No one is allowed to harm him. Is that clear?"

Not a single person dared to object to Sei's orders. A moment later, she looked back at me.

"Nevertheless, sir, I appreciate your concern for us, but I cannot accept what you are saying, especially since it does not align with the truth."

I couldn't speak and remained standing in a daze, perhaps because I felt humiliated for being unable to prove that I was telling the truth, only to be branded a liar instead.

Ataparag noticed my dismay, so she bowed on my behalf, apologized, and began pulling me away.

"My apologies again, Your Majesty. We will take our leave now to return to our posts," she said frantically.

"Thank you for your service, Ataparag. Always stay safe, and may our god guide you in your duties," she replied.

We hurried out of the room while Ataparag scolded me.

"You really unbelievable—you can't just do that in front of Her Majesty. If things had gone differently, both of us would have been punished because I brought you here."

"Her Majesty might be kind, but the generals with her are not. They could have punished us both," she added.

I had nothing to say except to apologize, knowing I had almost dragged her into trouble once again.

"I'm really sorry, I promise it won't happen again."

I felt deeply frustrated, beginning to doubt myself because I felt utterly useless with the knowledge I held.

I had a massive problem on my hands since I didn't know what would happen before the rampage. In my comic story, Sei and Galica were meant to be brought out just to showcase Halloween's power when he destroyed Galica.

They were truly destined to die here simply to make Halloween look powerful and dangerous in the story.

"I didn't think of that. If Halloween comes here next month, Suwi will be in danger," I whispered.

I covered my mouth as I thought.

"I need to get Suwi out of here as soon as possible."

Suddenly, the holographic display of the creation system popped up, showing me my information.

When I tapped on my stats, I saw my current strength:

Physical: 10

Magic: 10

Magic Resistance: 10

Agility: 10

Armor: 10

I had no idea if there was anything lower than mine compared to other humans like me, but I was certain I was extremely weak.

I also saw that I needed to accumulate 100 gratitude points to use creation magic.

"My gratitude points still haven't increased. But how on earth am I supposed to increase them?" I muttered.

I remembered the first time my points increased—when I helped a woman stand up.

"So even just simple acts of help can earn me gratitude points?"

As we walked, I looked at Ataparag, realizing that if I constantly helped others, I would finally be able to use the power granted to me.
