Lyra flinched at the sight of it before quickly pressing the button on the steering wheel.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Jake, I can’t talk right now,” Lyra said anxiously, her hands tightening around the wheel. “We’re on the way to the hospital.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Jake’s frantic voice immediately exploded through the speakers.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Lyra, you need to come back right now!” he screamed in panic. “It’s Leo! After you left the party, he got really upset and started crying for you. He ran upstairs looking for you… and he slipped.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Jake’s breathing sounded uneven and terrified.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“He fell all the way down the stairs, Lyra.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Lyra’s breath caught in her throat, and her foot instinctively lifted off the gas pedal.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“What?” she whispered in shock. “Is he okay?”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Jake’s terrified voice immediately exploded through the speakers.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“No, he’s not okay!” Jake cried out desperately. “He fell down the stairs and hit his head really hard. There’s blood everywhere, Lyra. He’s losing so much of it.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">His breathing sounded uneven and panicked.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“The ambulance is taking too long, and he keeps crying for you. Please… he won’t let anyone touch him unless you’re here. I’m begging you, Lyra… please save my son.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Lyra’s mind instantly spiraled into chaos, her hands began trembling violently against the steering wheel as panic crashed into her chest.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Jake, hold on!” Lyra shouted frantically into the phone. “I’m turning the car around right now!”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Lyra, don’t you dare turn this car around!” Brandon shouted in anger, as he held Maggie tightly against his chest. “Look at your daughter! She’s dying in my arms right now, I beg you, don't let her die. Her heart is failing, and you want to abandon her for a child who probably only scraped his knee?”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“A scraped knee?!” Lyra screamed back at him in disbelief, her hands trembling violently on the steering wheel. “Jake said Leo fell down the stairs, Brandon! He’s bleeding badly!”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">In panic, Lyra slammed her foot against the brakes and jerked the steering wheel sharply, preparing to make a U-turn.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">But the moment she looked at Brandon’s face, something suddenly clicked inside her mind.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">A horrifying thought flashed through her head.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Her expression slowly changed from panic… into disgust.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Oh my God…” Lyra whispered breathlessly as she stared at Brandon. “I finally understand now.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Her eyes darkened with anger and disbelief.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“I finally figured out what’s really happening between Maggie and Leo… and what you’ve been trying to do to this family.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Lyra, what the hell are you thinking right now?!” Brandon shouted as he held Maggie tightly against his chest. “Our daughter is dying!”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“You planned all of this, didn’t you?” Lyra snapped furiously, her voice trembling with anger and disbelief. “You used Maggie to drag me away from Leo’s party.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Her eyes burned with disgust as she stared at Brandon.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“You told her to pretend to be sick.” Her voice turned colder with every word. “You’re so pathetic that you’d even use your own daughter just to manipulate me.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Brandon stared at Lyra in complete disbelief, his bloodshot eyes wide with shock and heartbreak.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“She’s fighting for her life, Lyra,” Brandon said hoarsely, his voice trembling with desperation as he held Maggie more tightly afraid of losing her if he loosened the grip. “She’s struggling just to breathe. Do you honestly think a six-year-old little girl could fake something like this?”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">But Lyra refused to believe him.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Stop lying to me, Brandon!” Lyra screamed at him, her face twisted with anger and disgust. “I’m sick of your manipulation and your lies!”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Without another word, she violently pulled the SUV over to the side of the highway.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">The tires screeched against the asphalt as the vehicle came to a sudden stop, then Lyra pressed the button to open the door and pointed outside with trembling fingers.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Get out,” she ordered coldly. “Take Maggie and get out of my car.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Her eyes burned with anger as tears gathered in them. “I’m going back to help someone who actually needs me, not a child pretending to be sick just to manipulate me.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Brandon felt his blood run cold.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“If you drive away right now… you’ll never see your daughter again.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">But Lyra’s expression didn’t soften.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Instead, disgust filled her eyes as she looked at both of them.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“I don’t even want to look at either of you right now,” she said coldly. “I’m ashamed and disgusted by what you’ve done.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Brandon’s eyes turned red as panic completely consumed him.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Lyra!” His voice broke as he looked down at Maggie’s pale face.“Even if you don’t believe me, even if you hate me right now, just take us to the hospital first… please. We’re running out of time!”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Enough!” Lyra screamed furiously. “Keep your disgusting manipulation to yourself and get out of my car right now before I drag both of you out myself!”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“You'll regret this!”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Brandon realized then that there was no time left to argue with her anymore.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Maggie’s breathing was growing weaker in his arms.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Without another word, he opened the car door and stepped out onto the side of the highway while holding Maggie tightly against his chest.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">The moment both of them were outside, Lyra slammed the door shut and sped away without looking back.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Brandon was alone on the side of the road. The sun was beating down on him. Cars were driving by fast. No one stopped to help.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Brandon looked down at Maggie in terror.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">She was growing weaker with every passing second, her tiny body trembled faintly in his arms, and each breath she took sounded softer than the last.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Daddy…” Maggie whispered weakly, her small fingers barely gripping his shirt.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“I’m here, baby,” Brandon replied immediately, his voice breaking as he tightened his hold around her fragile body. “Daddy’s right here. I’m going to get you to the hospital, okay? Just hold on a little longer for me.”

Maggie slowly lifted her tired eyes toward him.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Daddy…” Her trembling voice nearly shattered him. “Am I a bad child? Did I do something wrong to make Mommy stop loving me?”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Brandon completely broke at those words.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“No, Maggie. Never,” he cried out desperately, his voice shaking with pain as tears streamed down his face. “You are the most precious thing in this world to me.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Maggie smiled faintly when she heard his words. It was a soft, fragile smile… one that looked almost angelic beneath the sunlight.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Don’t cry, Daddy,” Maggie whispered weakly, her voice growing softer with every word. “I think… I already knew I wasn’t going to stay with Daddy for very long. The doctors thought I was asleep when they talked before… but I heard them.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">She took a slow, shaky breath, her tearful eyes locking onto Brandon’s with endless love.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“My only wish is that after I’m gone… you won’t stay sad forever, Daddy,” she whispered gently. “You’ve already suffered so much because of me. So please… take care of yourself too.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Her tiny fingers weakly tightened around his jacket.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Maggie… Please….”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“I love you daddy.”

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">After saying those words, Maggie’s tiny fingers slowly loosened from Brandon’s jacket, her little hand slipped weakly against his chest.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">Then… nothing.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">No more trembling…. No more breathing.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">The little girl in his arms had finally gone still.

mso-line-height-alt:12pt;">“Maggieeeee….”

  • I'M DEEPLY SORRY, YOUNG MASTER

The heavy silence inside the lobby was so thick that even the soft pattern of rain against the glass roof could be heard clearly.A dozen security guards slowly advanced, their metal batons sliding free with sharp clacking sounds. They surrounded Brandon from every direction, their tense expressions making it obvious they were ready to attack at the slightest command."You're still acting arrogant, huh?" the manager asked with a deep frown.Brandon merely hummed."I haven't said anything arrogant," he replied calmly. "Just let me go upstairs, and this will end peacefully."The manager's expression darkened."How dare you talk back to me?" She snapped. "Have you forgotten your place? Is it because I've been speaking to you too politely?"One of the security guards stepped forward and cracked his knuckles."Allow me, Manager," he said with a cold grin. "I'll crack his head open and make sure he never talks back again."The manager stood behind the wall of guards, a satisfied smile sprea

  • THIRTEENTH FLOOR LOCKDOWN

"Lock the elevators.""Block access to every floor. No one gets near the thirteenth floor without authorization."The security personnel immediately sprang into action, speaking into their bluetooth speaker as they spread throughout the hotel.Within moments, additional guards took up positions near the elevators, stairwells, and hallway entrances, tightening security around the entire floor. The air in the hotel lobby got really thick all of a sudden. Unaware of the storm brewing around him, Brandon pushed through the glass doors and stepped back into the hotel from the rain.He shook the water from his jacket and adjusted his grip on the small paper bag containing the medicine. His wet boots left faint tracks across the polished marble floor as he headed toward the elevators.Brandon never noticed the man standing partially hidden behind a massive marble pillar near the entrance.George remained in the shadows, his eyes fixed on Brandon's retreating figure.Shock flickered across h

  • BRING HIM TO ME

Inside the suite on the thirteenth floor, Brandon had just placed a glass of water on the nightstand when a soft groan drifted from the bed.He paused and glanced over his shoulder. The woman stirred beneath the blankets, her brows knitted together in discomfort. However, not wanting to involve himself in her matters, Brandon turned toward the door, intending to leave and finally get some rest. But as he passed the bed, a small hand suddenly shot out and grabbed the fabric of his gray shirt. Her fingers clutched it tightly, almost desperately, as if she was afraid he would disappear the moment she let go.Her small hand held his shirt with all the strength left in her as she did not want to let him go."Don't go," she pleaded weakly, her eyes half-closed. "Please don't leave me alone in the dark. I feel sick... My stomach hurts." Her face twisted in pain. "It really hurts..."Brandon looked down at the hand gripping his sleeve. When he tried to gently pull her fingers away, she sudden

  • YOUNG MASTER GEORGE?

"Y-You... you're actually shouting at me?" The woman stared at him in disbelief. "Do you even know who I am?""I don't care," Brandon replied coldly. He leaned back in his chair, his expression completely indifferent."You're sitting in my room without my permission. You're drinking, talking endlessly, and disturbing my peace." His eyes met hers without the slightest hesitation. "So yes, I have every right to say whatever I want and raise my voice if I feel like it."For a moment, the room fell silent. The woman looked at him with tear-filled eyes, no one had ever spoken to her like that before. Most people either envied her wealth, wanted something from her family, or tried to curry favor with her by agreeing with everything she said. Some were so eager to gain her family's support that they would have happily nodded along to any nonsense she spoke.Throughout her life, she had heard the same words over and over again.People always told her that it was better to cry in a luxury car

  • AT LEAST TELL ME YOUR NAME

“What do I want?” The woman let out a soft laugh.“I think we have a long night ahead of us to figure that out.” She gestured toward the empty chair across from her. “Come, sit down and keep me company for a while.”She settled into the armchair beside the window, crossing her legs gracefully beneath her silk gown. Picking up the bottle, she poured red wine into two crystal glasses before extending one toward him.Brandon didn't take it.Instead, he walked over to the desk and pulled out the chair opposite her. Sitting down, he folded his arms across his chest and leaned back slightly. His expression remained cold and unreadable…. He didn't touch the wine, he didn't speak either. He simply watched her with quiet, emotionless eyes. The woman did not seem to mind that Brandon did not take the wine. She took a gulp of the wine using it to help her talk. A sad smile was on her lips as she looked at the glass."You probably think I'm some crazy woman who likes playing games," the woman sai

  • I'M TIRED

The room on the fourteenth floor of the Grand Horizon Hotel was shrouded in darkness. The only light came from the pale moon shining through the floor-to-ceiling window.Brandon sat motionless on the edge of the bed. He had removed his boots and changed into a simple gray T-shirt and loose trousers. His hands rested on his knees, and his eyes remained fixed on the wall ahead. On the nightstand beside him, his phone kept vibrating.Again…. And again…. And again. The screen lit up the dark room every few seconds, displaying the same name over and over.LYRA.The constant buzzing echoed through the silence, yet Brandon never reached for the phone. He didn't even glance at it.He simply sat there, staring blankly ahead as the calls continued to come one after another."It doesn't matter anymore," Brandon murmured to himself, his voice was flat and emotionless. There was no anger left, no sadness, and no resentment. In his mind, he was already done with Lyra. The room at the Grand Horizon
