The brunette bombshell, who Conrad had heard Xander call Sasha, jerked in surprise, wide eyes flipping from Xander to Conrad and then to her boyfriend again.

“Baby, I-I swear I didn't…” she started but Conrad watched her try to save herself. He knew he was being shitty when she'd tried to help him, but right now he had to save himself and then beg her forgiveness later.

After all, he knew for a fact she didn't have the card on her.

Xander frowned then scowled at Conrad. “You're just trying to divert attention from yourself. It won’t work, you fucking thief!” he snapped.

Conrad plunged on. “I know that's what it looks like, but you've searched me and found nothing. And I'm telling you she has it. Wouldn't it make sense to search for her as well?”

Xander's jaw ground so hard Conrad thought his teeth would grind to dust. “You're an unlucky fucking bastard if you think I don't know you're the thief and no one else. I won't search for any other person, least of all not my Sasha.”

The crowd turned against Xander at that moment.

“But if he says he saw her steal it, then you should search her as well. It won't be a problem if she didn't steal it.” The man with the camera argued, raising his camera to face Xander this time.

Xander shoved the man, refusing reason. “And who asked for your opinion, you old fool?”

That upset other spectators as well.

“So this is how you talk to your employees? This is how you speak to people?” Someone demanded.

“The poor waiter probably didn't even see the credit card to even steal it. This is an abuse of power. You're treating the waiters like shit.” Someone else spat.

“Yeah, yeah, I won't be coming here anymore. Total garbage. Waste of my time and money.” An elegantly dressed woman said to Xanders face, before quickly turning towards the door to leave.

Xander saw that he was truly trapped then. He was bringing on a bad reputation to his father's establishment and he could never afford to raise his father's ire.

He could search for his girlfriend, embarrassing her and by extension himself on camera and God knew he was way too arrogant to ever admit he could suspect his girlfriend or provide the card so that the uproar could end.

Suddenly he let out a loud bark of laughter, raising his hands in the air and trying to calm the people.

But how could he ever accept the mistake was his? He decided to just say everything was fine and be done with it. “Everyone! The restaurant's management apologizes for the inconvenience. I and the restaurant's management will now handle this matter privately. Excuse us,”

Xander went to push through the throng of people and head to the back room, but again, one of the patrons pulled him back. “Too little too late man. You have to prove this is not how you treat your employees. We must find that darn card!”

“Yeah!” The crowd chorused.

Xander looked like a deer caught in the headlights. He stammered and then patted first his right trouser pocket, muttering a “Look, look, it's alright, really. I just realized I had my card in my pocket the whole time.”

He laughed self-consciously, sticking his fingers into his pocket and drawing out the card. He held up the card for everyone to see, the embarrassment obvious in his humiliated face.

Hisses and curses could be heard from all parts of the restaurant as the people slowly departed, throwing snide comments at Xander.

“He obviously had it on him the entire time.” a stunning blonde girl said, going to Conrad with sympathetic doe eyes that only saw him.

“I’m Charlotte. Mind going for a drink this evening when you clock out of work? You know,” she slid a soft hand over his chest while smiling up at him, “to forget this dreadfully unfair event.”

Conrad smiled politely, and took her hand in his, dropping it. “I'll think about it.”

He couldn't be rude to her, but he would never accept her offer. After all he had his beautiful girlfriend, Laura and he would never betray her trust by cheating on her.

Conrad looked up and caught Xander looking at him with eyes fit to murder. He glowered at him, his body vibrating with the effort to hold back his rage, and then he placed a hand on Sasha's waist and stepped into the elevator.

Sitting beside Xander in his car made me realize that I didn't know the person I was rolling with because if he had opened up to me, that was the reason he desperately needed Conrad's home address. I wouldn't be here feeling guilty for his actions. “Wosh!” Xander released a deep breath of relief as he parked his car carefully at a nearby car park, his hands brushing through his hair in ecstasy turning his eyeballs to look at me, “I'm so glad I was able to do this with your help, Laura.”Raising my eyebrows to give him a terrified look, I scoffed out in displeasure, “Huh?” “Why are you acting so weird, Laura?” His ass adjusted to change his sitting position where his eyes could stare right back into mine, “I noticed that since I parked down here expressing my satisfaction to see that stupid and ungrateful boy who blackmailed you go down you've been acting weird.”Her countenance changed immediately as she tried to keep a straight face so he wouldn't be able to decipher the fear in he

Her words came like a tidal wave straight into my ears the moment I heard her capitalize on my brokenness. Everything felt as if the little world I created with my hands had crumbled. My feet froze and I couldn't take any step further because there was no way I had spent any minutes discussing my life problems with this unknown lady.“Is this how crystal clear my brokenness has gradually become my identity?” my inner voice crept through my ears while I pondered a bit about it before thinking of the next line of action to take. “I know you weren't expecting someone like me to tell you the truth but I’ll tell you for free Mr.not too flirty.” She paused her words to catch a few breaths. When I thought she was done with her rants and I'd grown a thick skin not to allow any of her words to get to me, she finally threw the last straw of insult to my face. “Your brokenness and poverty have a stench odor coming out from you, Mr. Dumbass.”Every piece of her dismissive words crumbled the l

His phone tripped off before he could even order the Uber.“Fuck! Is this how I want to start this year of my life?” He slammed his phone right into his palm in agitation, “If not because of that ungrateful Secretary I know that I’d have been able to charge my phone to an extent before leaving to embark on this journey.” He muttered to himself assuring that all would end up well with him.His knee slowly grew numb as the coldness of the wind kept on blowing in the air. His hands were suddenly growing cold due to the harshness of the cold. He wasn’t ready to relent in the pursuit of getting the money that’d be enough for him to take care of his mothe

“Are you sure you want us to meet? Are you sure you want to do this, Conrad?” The voice behind the phone questioned him repeatedly as he was fully in doubt about Conrad’s sudden decision.Conrad sniffed in some air with his nostrils, inhaling and exhaling simultaneously while he thought about the question that was being asked to him. He knew he was sounding desperate but he wasn’t bothered at all for all he had in mind was to get his mother out of that awful state she found herself in.“Well, I guess your silence says it all Mr. Conrad. Whenever you are ready to take the bull by the horn then you can give us your say.”“I’m ready!” he yelled out loud in anger and frustration, not realizing that he was yelling, "I’m sorry if my voice triggered you in any way, but what I’m trying to let you know is that I’m ready to take the bull by the horns. You can send in the location, and in thirty minutes, you’ll see me right there.”The caller behind the phone heaved a deep sigh of relief as he h

  • A Deposit Of $40,000

“Conrad, why are you bringing up your father's name into our harmless conversation?” His mother drifted away from him, staring into his eyes in amusement. “Mother, I want you to answer the damn question and stop acting all weird to me.” “Conrad, I think I'd leave you here all alone and go back to whatever I was doing in the kitchen before you showed up.”He stood up from the couch where he laid and pulled his mother from her arms, “Mother, I need an answer right away. You can't keep shoving off this question anytime I ask you.”“What more do you want me to say, Conrad? I don't have anything else to tell you. Now, can you take your hands off me? You are hurting me.” She beckoned on him calmly. Conrad still felt unsatisfied with his mother's responses. He was getting sick and tired of his mother avoiding conversation that requires his father's name in there. All efforts to force her speak the truth that she has been hoarding in her heart for far too long were not futile. “Mother, if

Laura placed her hands softly on her gentleman's chest as they both lay on the bed but from the silence she was receiving from his end, she knew someone wasn't right. “Why are you acting so cold all of a sudden?” She dragged herself up to the bed pulling the duvet up to her chest. The young man rolled himself over to the other edge of the bed without saying anything to her. The only thing he was feeding her as a response was the inhaling and exhaling of his breath. “Please don't give me this cold response, Peter. If you want to keep acting cold towards me then I might as well get myself out of this bed and use the door.” He chuckled out loud mockingly, “You want to use the door so you can go back to your babe, right?”“Hell no! Peter, how dare you belittle me in such a manner?” she dragged the duvet that was on her chest and sprang to her feet. “Spare me those cock and bull stories, Laura. What do you take me for? Huh?” He clenched his fist so tight holding back himself from goin
