Conrad was relieved to find himself free to finish his shift for the day, before heading home. He worked in shifts on the upper floors of the hotel as housekeeping, and then in the restaurant as a waiter.

He changed into the cleaner's uniform and proceeded to clean the rooms assigned to him.

“Hey, Conrad!” The head matron called.

“Yeah?”

“I forgot to tell you, a couple in one of the other couple suites checked out some time ago. We need you to go clean up the room.

“Of course. They're gone, right? There's no chance of me running into them?” Conrad asked.

He had once walked into a room and the couple had given him the insult of his life. His salary for that month was cut.

“Yeah, they are gone. Just grab your stuff and go clean it. Another couple just booked the room. They are one hour away.”

“What room is it?” Conrad asked, walking backward.

“Room 215.”

Conrad nodded and went into the employee room. He changed into his uniform and grabbed his cleaning cart. His phone pinged and he checked it.

“Yo Conrad! Are you going to room service?” A colleague asked.

Conrad raised his head, the man worked in the surveillance room “Yeah. On the twelfth floor.” Conrad replied with a nod.

“Oh that's good then. Could you do me a favour?” The man asked.

“What is it?” Conrad questioned.

“There is a camera on the tenth floor that has been acting up. Could you maybe take a look at it before going for room service. Just check if the wires are connected properly.” The man asked with a grin.

“Oh man. I don't think I can. I really need to finish the room service early. My girlfriend texted me that she'd be done with work in a couple of hours.” Conrad replied.

The man rolled his eyes at him.“Of course. Every time it's about your girlfriend. You are always whining whenever she cancels your plans, plans you borrowed money from us to make happen.” His voice turned bitter.

Conrad then felt guilty. They were his colleagues and they helped each other out at times.

“Fine, I'll check it out.” Conrad replied.

“Thanks man.” The man said and turned back to his locker.

Conrad sighed and walked out of the room, he took the back elevator to avoid running into guests and hit the button for the tenth floor.

Soon enough the elevator dinged and the doors opened. Conrad pushed his cart out and walked down the hallway. He stumbled on something.

A cry rang out.

Conrad looked around the cart and saw a kid no more than four years old standing in front of the cart with his hand holding his head.

“Aw.. don't cry please. I didn't mean to hit you.” Conrad said to the child.

“What do you think you are doing to my child? You hit her with your stupid cart and now you dare to touch her with your filthy hands.” A voice screamed at him.

Conrad turned around and saw a woman standing in front of an open door.

“I'm so sorry ma'am, I did not see her standing there. I didn't mean to hit her.” Conrad said standing up. The child quickly ran to her mother and clutched her legs.

“Did you do something to her, because if you did I'll make sure you regret it.” The woman threatened.

“No no no no. Of course not.” Conrad alone was horrified by that thought.

“I'm going to sue you and your manager for assault.” The woman stated.

Sitting beside Xander in his car made me realize that I didn't know the person I was rolling with because if he had opened up to me, that was the reason he desperately needed Conrad's home address. I wouldn't be here feeling guilty for his actions. “Wosh!” Xander released a deep breath of relief as he parked his car carefully at a nearby car park, his hands brushing through his hair in ecstasy turning his eyeballs to look at me, “I'm so glad I was able to do this with your help, Laura.”Raising my eyebrows to give him a terrified look, I scoffed out in displeasure, “Huh?” “Why are you acting so weird, Laura?” His ass adjusted to change his sitting position where his eyes could stare right back into mine, “I noticed that since I parked down here expressing my satisfaction to see that stupid and ungrateful boy who blackmailed you go down you've been acting weird.”Her countenance changed immediately as she tried to keep a straight face so he wouldn't be able to decipher the fear in he

  • Who The Hell Are You?

Her words came like a tidal wave straight into my ears the moment I heard her capitalize on my brokenness. Everything felt as if the little world I created with my hands had crumbled. My feet froze and I couldn't take any step further because there was no way I had spent any minutes discussing my life problems with this unknown lady.“Is this how crystal clear my brokenness has gradually become my identity?” my inner voice crept through my ears while I pondered a bit about it before thinking of the next line of action to take. “I know you weren't expecting someone like me to tell you the truth but I’ll tell you for free Mr.not too flirty.” She paused her words to catch a few breaths. When I thought she was done with her rants and I'd grown a thick skin not to allow any of her words to get to me, she finally threw the last straw of insult to my face. “Your brokenness and poverty have a stench odor coming out from you, Mr. Dumbass.”Every piece of her dismissive words crumbled the l

The road was crispy with damped grass and leaves flying across the air as he stormed out of the hospital building hoping to get a taxi that’d take him to the exact location that was sent to him before he finally missed it this time around. He brought out his phone, trying to order an Uber, but life always finds its way of embarrassing him. His phone tripped off before he could even order the Uber.“Fuck! Is this how I want to start this year of my life?” He slammed his phone right into his palm in agitation, “If not because of that ungrateful Secretary I know that I’d have been able to charge my phone to an extent before leaving to embark on this journey.” He muttered to himself assuring that all would end up well with him.His knee slowly grew numb as the coldness of the wind kept on blowing in the air. His hands were suddenly growing cold due to the harshness of the cold. He wasn’t ready to relent in the pursuit of getting the money that’d be enough for him to take care of his mothe

“Are you sure you want us to meet? Are you sure you want to do this, Conrad?” The voice behind the phone questioned him repeatedly as he was fully in doubt about Conrad’s sudden decision.Conrad sniffed in some air with his nostrils, inhaling and exhaling simultaneously while he thought about the question that was being asked to him. He knew he was sounding desperate but he wasn’t bothered at all for all he had in mind was to get his mother out of that awful state she found herself in.“Well, I guess your silence says it all Mr. Conrad. Whenever you are ready to take the bull by the horn then you can give us your say.”“I’m ready!” he yelled out loud in anger and frustration, not realizing that he was yelling, "I’m sorry if my voice triggered you in any way, but what I’m trying to let you know is that I’m ready to take the bull by the horns. You can send in the location, and in thirty minutes, you’ll see me right there.”The caller behind the phone heaved a deep sigh of relief as he h

“Conrad, why are you bringing up your father's name into our harmless conversation?” His mother drifted away from him, staring into his eyes in amusement. “Mother, I want you to answer the damn question and stop acting all weird to me.” “Conrad, I think I'd leave you here all alone and go back to whatever I was doing in the kitchen before you showed up.”He stood up from the couch where he laid and pulled his mother from her arms, “Mother, I need an answer right away. You can't keep shoving off this question anytime I ask you.”“What more do you want me to say, Conrad? I don't have anything else to tell you. Now, can you take your hands off me? You are hurting me.” She beckoned on him calmly. Conrad still felt unsatisfied with his mother's responses. He was getting sick and tired of his mother avoiding conversation that requires his father's name in there. All efforts to force her speak the truth that she has been hoarding in her heart for far too long were not futile. “Mother, if

Laura placed her hands softly on her gentleman's chest as they both lay on the bed but from the silence she was receiving from his end, she knew someone wasn't right. “Why are you acting so cold all of a sudden?” She dragged herself up to the bed pulling the duvet up to her chest. The young man rolled himself over to the other edge of the bed without saying anything to her. The only thing he was feeding her as a response was the inhaling and exhaling of his breath. “Please don't give me this cold response, Peter. If you want to keep acting cold towards me then I might as well get myself out of this bed and use the door.” He chuckled out loud mockingly, “You want to use the door so you can go back to your babe, right?”“Hell no! Peter, how dare you belittle me in such a manner?” she dragged the duvet that was on her chest and sprang to her feet. “Spare me those cock and bull stories, Laura. What do you take me for? Huh?” He clenched his fist so tight holding back himself from goin
