"My man is unparalleled in both wealth and power." Alana's face filled with pride as she spoke, but the moment her eyes fell on Jordan, that pride turned into undisguised disgust. "If he finds you still here when he arrives, you will have yourself to blame."

Jordan's fingers dug into the armrests of his wheelchair. His heart had completely turned cold. Whatever love he had once felt for Alana was gone. There was no trace of it left. In its place was something far colder, hatred.

At that moment, Alessia suddenly spoke up. Her voice was as timid as ever. "Grandma... Brother Jordan's legs are disabled, and he has no other relatives..."

She hesitated before continuing. "When he was in the army, he helped our family many times. He even saved my cousin's life."

Her voice gradually became smaller as she lowered her head. She knew she was overstepping her boundaries, but she couldn't remain silent any longer.

"Could... Could we not treat him like this?"

Jordan's head rose abruptly. His serene gaze trembled slightly as he looked at Alessia. He hadn't expected her to stand up for him in front of her entire family. Especially when she looked so frightened of them herself.

A strange ripple passed through his eyes, and no one could tell what he was thinking.

Alana, however, glared at Alessia. "It's always the ugly ones making the most noise."

Alessia immediately shrank back. Her fingers tightened around the edge of her veil, as though she could hide the horrifying scar beneath it simply by holding the fabric tighter.

Alana's expression twisted with disdain. "I know you've always been jealous of me. You've always wished you could take my place."

She pointed at Jordan. "But don't think you can use him to ruin my relationship."

"No... I wasn't..." Alessia hurriedly shook her head. But Alana didn't even give her a chance to finish.

"If you really feel sorry for him..." A cold sneer appeared on her lips. "...why don't you marry him and take care of him for the rest of your life?"

"I..." Alessia lowered her head. Her face immediately flushed bright red, and she became so embarrassed that she couldn't find the words to respond.

"Tsk... tsk..." Jordan's gaze hardened and he slowly shook his head.

"I originally planned to give the Rhodes family an opportunity to rise to the top of the elite families in Vespera." His voice remained calm, almost indifferent.

"But now..." He paused and glanced around at the people surrounding him. "...it seems you aren't worthy of it."

For a brief moment, silence descended. The entire Rhodes family stared at him. Then—

BWAHAHAHAHA!

Laughter erupted from every direction. Some members of the family laughed so hard that tears gathered in their eyes.

"What the heck is this cripple talking about?" one of them scoffed, pointing at Jordan.

"I think prison didn't just take his legs. It damaged his brain too."

BWAHAHAHA!

Another round of laughter erupted. Alana shook her head while struggling to suppress her own amusement.

"Jordan, you're already struggling to survive, yet you're claiming you can help my family rise to the top?" She raised a hand and tapped her temple mockingly. "Do you need me to get a doctor to check your brain?"

"Pfft!" Her mother laughed. "Don't bother. He's nothing but an attention-seeking clown."

Jordan looked at them quietly. He didn't become angry. Instead, the corners of his lips slowly curled upward with a cold smile.

"Do you really think losing my position in the army and being stripped of the Dragon General's title has made me useless?"

"Didn't it?" Alana's nose wrinkled as she scoffed. "Why are you even asking such an obvious question?"

Her response only caused the smile on Jordan's lips to widen. He almost shook his head.

The title of Dragon General was indeed prestigious. It represented the highest military honor a soldier in Vespera could obtain.

But there was another title. One far more terrifying. One that stood at the very peak of Vespera's power.

If the Dragon General represented the pinnacle of the military... then that other title represented something far beyond it. A position capable of shaking the entire country.

Yet Jordan said nothing. There was no point explaining himself to these people. They didn't deserve to know.

VROOM!

VROOM!

The deep growl of a powerful engine suddenly rolled through the hotel entrance. The sound wasn't the harsh roar of an ordinary vehicle.

It was smooth and restrained, carrying the effortless power of a machine built to announce wealth without needing to show off.

Everyone turned toward the entrance. A sleek black luxury car slowly glided into view. Its polished body reflected the afternoon light as it moved toward them before coming to a smooth stop.

Alana's eyes immediately lit up. The expressions of the Rhodes family changed as well.

"He's here!"

"Quickly, let's go and welcome him!"

Grandmother Rhodes immediately straightened her back. The contempt that had covered her face moments ago disappeared as though it had never existed.

The other members of the Rhodes family hurriedly adjusted their clothes and straightened their appearances. Their mocking expressions were replaced by excitement and anticipation.

Only Jordan remained unmoved. He casually lifted his eyes toward the luxury car.

"Jordan, I advise you to leave quickly." One of the Rhodes family members glared at him.

"If you dare cause trouble later, our family won't let you off."

The family members quickly hurried toward the car. Only Alessia remained behind.

She turned toward Jordan with an apologetic expression. "Brother Jordan, I'm sorry. I didn't expect them to treat you like this."

A bitter smile appeared on Jordan's lips.

"It's okay." He looked at her calmly. "It's not your fault."

CLICK.

The driver's door opened. A chauffeur dressed in an immaculate black suit stepped out and walked around the vehicle before respectfully opening the rear passenger door.

A polished leather shoe emerged. Then another. A tall figure slowly stepped out of the car.

The mood around the hotel entrance changed instantly. Alana's lips curved into a smile. The Rhodes family members immediately became even more respectful.

But Jordan... he froze. His calm expression cracked once more. His eyes widened as he stared at the man who had just stepped out of the vehicle.

Jordan's fingers trembled. Slowly, he raised one unsteady hand and pointed toward the man. His voice came out hoarse and filled with disbelief.

"You..."
