The void twisted as a figure stepped out of it looking like he was escaping from something or someone…
The torn void quickly sealed as he crashed on the white sand and coughed up a mouthful of blood, the fiery crimson fluid staining the white sand. His eyes turned frosty, but the excruciating pain he felt had him cursing out non-stop. "Those bastards, those fucking bitches… they can't even be trusted to keep me safe let alone keep my power in check. Now they want to harvest my soul? Argh!" He spat out more blood, turning spiteful. "The entire magical realm has been stripped of its godliness and divinity… with time, even the gods themselves will crumble without it." He chuckled like a maniac displaying bloodied teeth. 'The gods, huh?' Who were gods? They are beings of higher authority. Meaning that… They have the power to create and destroy, even going as far as making the entire multiverse, Megaverse or even universe a ruin. When gods are in conflict, a mortal human could awaken an ability from the phenomenon caused by the conflicts of gods… and of course, their conflicts were naturally once in a blue moon. It is also normal to say that… A god could awaken a deity. Those deities are what humans become. *Cough, cough* He spat out more blood but then froze. There's no more time or else he would lose his entire legacy for good. The gods were powerful and if there's anything that they cannot control, then it is their greed for more power. 'Five seconds more…' He waved his two index fingers and did a double incantation gesture: Dissemination of Core… The very soul that housed an infinite power unfused from his body and slowly started to separate until they were in three parts. 'The gods wanted my core right? Fearing that I might become too powerful for them to control… and probably go against them. Fine, let's see how they find my power in the mortal body of a sick human.' Then like a hurricane, the three parts of a god's broken soul vanished into the mortal world. He smiled softly counting down… 'Two seconds… one second…' The sky shattered as something that looked like a gargantuan palm covered the entire world, blocking the sun and pressing down on the weak god. "Give it up Azarax and unleash your soul core to us… maybe we might spare your life for obedience." The weak god on his knees looked up. He was covered in blood as he watched tiny sparks from their unleashed powers descend upon the mortal world but he didn't say. Even the gods who seemed to be the main Pinnacle of existence… those higher beings who were granted rulership over the entire realm… the cosmos of time and the multiverse; they were clueless as to what their battle between themselves would do in the mortal world. When they fight, they give birth to deities without knowing how. It was indeed a very strange logic. Azarax knew this, but took it with him to the grave. Leviathan stared deeply at Azarax then he turned towards Zeus and said: "He doesn't want to hand his core over. Let's just kill him, he is already weakened to a pathetic state. When he is dead, we can harvest his core." Three more gods appeared like phantoms. Archon, Gilead and Uriel. "If he dies, his core dies… his soul weakens and the power fades. We might not absorb it at its peak. We have to force him to give it or we might lose out this chance to infinitely grow our powers." Gilead said. They saw reason in that then all of them surrounded Azarax. Leviathan, Zeus, Gilead, Uriel and Archon. But Azarax didn't have any divine power left to share so he smiled darkly, wanting to fight till he died. So summoning his power as a god, the sky rippled like a torrent, and he appeared before the five gods in an instant. He waved his hands: Ring of darkness: Sevenfold. The entire battlefield changed drastically as a thundering earthquake shook the universe. *** *Earth* Present Time… Rime Havan stared blankly at the hospital wall, his hands clutching the white sheets tightly… he bit his lips nervously remembering that he had been injected something deadly by the bullies in his school. Starting from year one to year eight, this particular set of bullies had targeted him. What was worse is that he couldn't change high school because his mom did not have money for it. Plus, he was on a scholarship and couldn't just waste it. So he endured. But reaching a point, he had almost committed suicide if not for being rescued on time and reported… then maybe he would have died already. He never tell… he couldn't sell out the bullies all because they had awakened special aspect abilities and he had not… the police force didn't have a special force with special abilities so contending against those with abilities was like fighting a losing battle so he never revealed them up until when they injected him with the heart seeker and now, his heart had almost been dried up if not for the doctors trying to use special means to curb the damage. He didn't die as of yet. But then… the school could no longer provide him with these high tech drugs to curb his heart so they suggested he told his mother so she would pay the bills but he didn't dare, knowing that she wouldn't be able to afford it. He took a deep breath, gripping the sheets tighter, his knuckles turning white at the sheer force. "Fine, let me die. I don't want to burden anyone… those bullies should find some other victim." Rime's red eyes closed. He slowly lay his head on the pillow and then relaxed. He could hear the fierce beating of his heart… sometimes it would beat faster and then sometimes slowly, making Rime witness the feeling of death and tension at the same time. The drug was slowly wearing off while the heart seeker kicked off its effect from where it stopped. All of sudden, the glass window in the medical center of Echelon high school shattered and Rime stood up almost immediately, expecting it to be the bullies wanting to make his death quick and painless… however that wasn't the case. Rime's expression changed when he saw his green jade-like crystal flying towards him with terrifying speed… The heart seeker was fast, but this crystal or whatever it is was faster and it struck Rime in the chest, passing through it and merging with his heart. Rime let out a startled scream and the entire medical team was alerted and rushed into the ward. With grim expressions, staring deeply at the shattered window, then an unconscious Rime, they all struggled to guess what had happened in the room. They examined Rime at first only to see that the heart seeker in his heart was shrinking down at a frightening rate. His heart rate also seemed to be stabilizing normally which was a miracle in and of itself. Doctor Lewis stared at the two nurses in the room and said; "this is strange… I could swear that this kid was almost finished. I mean, his heart could no longer pump blood properly. And with the entire pound of flesh looking dried and shriveled you could tell that his end was inevitably near. So what could have happened to make his heart look so healthy in a span of thirty minutes?" He shook his head and sighed. "Nurse Lee, go… go and call the principal for me. He needs to know that his student won't be dying anymore." The lady immediately left. Meanwhile the other nurse was instructed to change a fifteen years old kid out of his cloth, replaced with the hospital kind. *** One of the broken souls of god Azarax had entered Rime's body, taking charge of his damaged heart… the other part of the broken soul sank deep underneath the dead sea and its luster was extinguished forever. Then the last part vanished without a trace. Azarax had used Sevenfold rings of darkness to completely suppress five gods before summoning the blade of sorrow and stabbed himself in the heart before any of the other five gods would get the chance to do so. The rings of darkness wilted, revealing five gods who had grim expressions on their faces. They did not expect things to spiral out of their control… in fact, the only person in control of the event that took place, happened to be Azarax himself. Plus their dark expressions revealed the fact that… his godly soul core did not die with him. And at the same time, it wasn't with him. It must be somewhere… he had hidden his soul somewhere. But where exactly?Latest Chapter
Chapter 8 - Giving out Threats
The adrenaline rush was real. The explosion was real. But inside the school, no one heard a thing… no noise, not even a slight tremble.Bruce might have taken care of things so that he wouldn't be accused of training an awakener before the said training day. Everyone will definitely be shocked by tomorrow because Rime was actually adapting very fast. Rime did not know why but Bruce should know why.Rime on the other hand has just forty seconds left.[00min: 40sec]And they were like six to eight goblins waiting to tear him to shreds. The fact that Rime was improving did not mean he could now go against someone at Anthony's level. He would be crushed like a bug. Now for clarification, awakeners actually rank up and it has something to do with their energy channels. The first rank used to be very basic; improving aspect potency and physical power… which included inhuman strength that didn't have to do with applying mana energy. And to be clear, Rime hasn't stepped into that basic ra
Chapter 7 - Training Mana
Bruce did not want to brag but with someone like Damien standing in his way, he needed to let him know that he stood no chance at all. “Go back Damien and yes… this shouldn't repeat or I might not be lenient next time.”Rime now understood.Bruce wasn't just called an expert in name. He was even more talented than any other experts in Echelon, ranking the top expert of the school. That increased his fame and also… his enemies. No senior experts liked him for the fact that he was stronger and everyone did everything they could to get rid of him.Damien understood the disparity between them so he turned towards Rime with a look that said ‘watch your back’ before walking with a dark expression into the school building.# # #Mrs Ada was glad that Echelon high school would be responsible for Rime which means… less responsibility for her. She had only wanted to see him to be sure that he is being treated well. Rime might currently be thin but at least, this was a far cry to what he used to
Chapter 6 - Attack
They slowly approached Rime as he sat there, nonchalant about revealing his Aspect to them. But before they could take another step, Bruce walked into the scene. The dark expression that they say on this senior's face had them rethinking their choices. “Are you guys for real? We don't entertain or train awakened bullies in Echelon high school. If I ever hear or even discover this treachery again, then anyone involved will be handed over to the government.”Everyone's spine ran cold with dread. The government is obviously not a joke… Echelon high school might be getting a special treatment now because the students involved are still quite young. However the moment they graduate into governmental hands, then even the gate of hell trembles. The worst of all is… a student who didn't go through Echelon high school but decided to go through the government.Bruce immediately turned to Rime and gestured with his finger. He understood that very well and stood up. The man disappeared with h
Chapter 5 - The Nine
Silence stretched on for what seemed like eternity… there was this questioning expression on their faces. When had he stood before the mirror and they didn't remember it. But a few seconds later, everything returned back to normal… training was the following day, so if they didn't see his aspect ability today, they will see what it is tomorrow… and continuously until they all graduate from Echelon high school. From the moment a human awakens, there's already a huge responsibility on their shoulders… the government, the city… protectors! Saving the city in desperate times is what they were being made for. The coordinator sighed… “Alright, since you've all discerned your aspect ability, we will commence with training tomorrow… for now you don't have to be anywhere at the moment because you've not learnt control over mana and even your aspect ability. You could decimate the town so the ten of you will have to camp in the school. Information will be passed to your family on behalf of yo
Chapter 4 - Appearance of a god
A few things finally came to light in Rime's mind…First and foremost, they were awakeners in the title alone. They could not feel mana energy or even regulate the energy of their aspect as of yet. Secondly, they needed divine artefacts like this mirror to stir up the sleeping or dormant aspect ability within them. These were strong facts. So anyone who awakened and didn't recognize with, the government… or even Echelon high school, will find it difficult to discern their aspect, control their mana inflow and outflow, stir up their aspect and finally learn to use them.Rime took a deep breath as he watched Fiona stand in front of the mirror… and not until cracks started to appear in the void. Rime's mouth opened ajar. Fiona's figure was the same, however the hazy figure of a beast hovered just behind her like a monument. Everyone's pupils shrank immediately and they retreated. Void beasts were rare and whenever they attacked or a gate descended close to the border, despite the bar
Chapter 3 - Determining Aspects
The walk to school was extremely boring with this cold and expressionless young man refusing to answer any of his questions. That is until Rime gave up from asking any.The world they were currently in was futuristic in the year, 2698 so basically one can see the sprawling technologies that have been installed in the entire world… for example, this is Nova city and Rime's walk to school hadn't really been that tiring all because at every section, one could see teleportation rings, both at the sidewalk and the highway… making it much easier and faster for people and vehicles to get to their destination. There were skyscrapers everywhere and high tech buildings no longer make use of lifts or elevators, replacing them with teleportation beams.Eventually the two reached Echelon high school and Rime stared at the massive building that towered six meters into the sky. Honestly, ever since the school has started to groom deities, Echelon high had lost its key peace that made it exceptional.
