The echo of Kael’s sad scream still hung heavily in the damp air when the wooden doors of the room broke apart. Splinters of wood flew everywhere, cutting his face and robes as the heavy storm rushed inside the dark space .
Queen Eleanor stepped inside the messy room, her long silk clothes shining with a strange, suffocating purple light that made the air freeze instantly . Behind her, a dozen heavy executioners marched into the small space, holding their long, sharp spears tightly .
The Queen looked around the room, and her eyes stopped when she saw her daughter bleeding on the cold floor. Princess Seraphina lay there, completely knocked out from the heavy blow Kael had delivered in his rage.
Queen Eleanor rushed to her side, lifting the princess up while looking at her broken nose and the purple bruises covering her face. She looked at Kael, then turned her angry eyes to the guards standing outside, her face twisting into pure madness.
"Look at this monster!" the Queen screamed, pointing her shaking finger directly at Kael’s chest with absolute hatred. "This useless boy has completely lost his mind tonight and attacked the royal family. He just murdered his own mother in cold blood!"
"And when my poor daughter tried to stop him, he launched a treasonous attack on her too!" she shouted, telling a massive lie to everyone present. The guards gasped when they heard her words, their faces turning dark with deep disgust as they looked at the boy .
Kael did not even look up, his mind feeling completely blank and dead after losing his mother so brutally. He held his mother's cold hand, ignoring the lies vibrating through the quiet room as the guards stepped closer to bind him.
"You are lying," Kael whispered, his voice sounding hollow and completely empty of any human feeling. "Your daughter killed my mother with royal poison, and I saw it happen right here in this room."
"Shut your filthy mouth!" Queen Eleanor roared, kicking his shoulder hard with her heavy leather boot. The blow sent Kael sliding across the stone floor, but he did not make a single sound of physical pain as he crawled back toward his mother's bed.
"You are a terrible curse on our royal family," she said, her heavy energy making the air feel thick and hot. "We gave you a home, but you only brought us shame and violence from the moment you arrived. I wanted to destroy you when you were just a little child."
"Our priests said you were a prophesied threat to us, and I should have ended your life thirteen years ago," she hissed. "Today, I will finally erase you from this world, and nobody will care to ask where you went. Get the heavy shackles!"
"We will not take this boy to a public court for a fair trial after what he did," the Queen commanded with an evil smile. "We will end him right here in this dark courtyard. I will open the earth and throw him into the deep hole."
Two large guards grabbed Kael by his hair, pulling him away from the bed with brute force. They locked heavy iron chains around his wrists, completely blocking his physical movements as they dragged him out to the center of the courtyard.
Kael did not fight back, his eyes looking dull as the iron chains clinked loudly against the stones. The Queen walked out into the heavy rain, stomping her foot down with great force. A loud cracking sound filled the air as a massive magic circle appeared right beneath Kael's feet .
The ground split open instantly, creating a scary, bottomless hole that went deep into the dark earth. Cold, dark winds rushed up from the black empty space below, howling like a thousand angry beasts. This was the Abyssal Devouring Rift, a magical chasm .
The dark, volatile currents pulled at Kael's clothes, trying to drag him down into the unending darkness. Kael hung on the very edge of the deep hole, his knees sliding on the wet, muddy stone tiles as the void threatened to swallow him whole.
"This is where you belong, Kael," Queen Eleanor mocked, walking slowly to the edge of the pit. "Jump into the dark, and let the wind erase your name forever from this empire." The guards lifted their heavy boots, preparing to kick his back into the darkness.
Kael clenched his fists, his teeth grinding together in pure, silent rage as he stared at his tormentors. He hated them with every piece of his heart, but he was too weak to break the iron chains. "Push him down now!" the Queen ordered loudly.
Just as the guards were about to kick him, a loud, booming voice shook the entire palace courtyard. "Stop right there!" a woman shouted, her voice sounding like a sudden clap of thunder in the dark night .
A massive wave of golden light exploded across the stone floor, forcing the guards to drop their weapons in shock . The bright light filled the courtyard, making the Queen step back quickly as a tall figure in old silver armor appeared through the rain.
It was Kira, holding a massive iron sword, her eyes burning with a scary, legendary power that made the nobles tremble. Kael looked up through the blood on his face, his heart jumping as he recognized her. "Kira..." he whispered.
