Mark was smiling at the entrance of Glamour, waiting for Briana to take him to her family's house.

Some employees, like Mary Ellen, kept their distance from Mark, with an inexplicable fear.

Suddenly, Briana's luxurious car stopped and Mark quickly got in.

"Mark, why are you smiling?"

"Let's just say things are falling into place," Mark replied, fastening his seatbelt.

"OK. Now we need to introduce you to my family," Briana replied and added, "Are you okay with that?"

"I'm fine." Mark turned to her with a reassuring smile.

"I know it seems sudden." Briana thought it would be good to explain, "But there's a banquet happening today and I need to attend.

"So I thought it would be a great opportunity to introduce you to them as my husband."

Mark needed no motivation for this.

"Understood. I just need to go to my apartment to dress up."

"Yes, I understand. Let's go then." Briana smiled in relief, "Thank you so much, Mark."

Mark nodded, and Briana headed to his old apartment.

Katrina was in her office, still fuming about the lack of information regarding Briana's baby room. Patricio tried in vain to soothe her.“Honey, please be reasonable,” he pleaded.“There’s nothing to be reasonable about,” she shot back. “We need to know who won the bet, NOW!”“What bet? Briana never agreed to anything.” Patricio sighed.Katrina offered a delusional smile. “She knows she’s going to lose, which is why she never confirmed. But the bet was launched whether she wants to admit it or not.”Patricio tried a solution. “Why don’t you just convince yourself that our baby’s room is the best?”“Because I can’t live in delusion!”Patricio raised an eyebrow. Was not this very desperation to win against Briana a delusion in itself?Christopher walked in at that moment, clearly not happy to see his future brother-in-law.“Any legal matters, Lawyer Nogueira?” Christopher asked, his voice chilly.Patricio, annoyed by the formality, replied through gritted teeth. “You know very well I’m

“Don’t talk as if my marriage to James was some gift from the heavens,” Katrina snapped, her voice rising. “You never liked him yourself.”Christopher’s gaze hardened. “No, I knew he was no good when he cheated on you during your honeymoon! But you insisted on marrying him just to compete with Briana.”As always when cornered, Katrina instantly changed the subject. “Speaking of which, can you send me pictures of Briana’s baby room?”Christopher shot his sister a look of severe disapproval, but before he could respond, his cell phone rang.He picked it up, glancing at the screen.“It’s Mark,” he murmured, then answered the call. “Hello?”“Don’t answer the phone at the table,” Katrina hissed across the pristine linen. “That’s what New Yorkers do.”******In the parking lot outside Glamour, Mark stood beside his Lamborghini Urus. A heavy shadow seemed to cling to Briana as she sat at the lunch table."Hello, Mother," Briana began, her voice tight. "We need to have a serious conversation about Dad."Nadir flashed a smile that bordered on the immoral. "Okay..." she purred. From Nadir’s point of view, her plate was piled high with an odd assortment: carrots, eggplant, cucumber, quail eggs, and other foods that, to a certain mind, resembled a very specific male appendage."Are you satisfied with my father?" Briana pressed, cutting through the silence.Nadir startled as if emerging from a daydream. "Huh? What kind of question is that, daughter? Satisfied in what sense?"Briana's expression remained firm, unwavering. "Are you satisfied with my father in the INTIMACY department?"Nadir’s face flushed crimson. "Daughter, why are you asking me this?""I received a complaint," Briana stated simply. "And, come to think of it, your stress the last time you were here makes perfect sense now.""Daughter, just this morning,

“Luana,” Briana said, recovering from the initial shock, “you’re suggesting my mother is having an affair with my servant!”“Not exactly,” Luana clarified. “I’m saying your mother is tempting Julian like Potiphar’s wife. Julian is a sweetheart; he would never say anything to you. But I started paying attention. At lunchtime, when you began to pray, Julian was nearby. When we said ‘Amen’ and opened our eyes, Julian had retreated back to the kitchen. And that’s when your mother...”“Swore in dissatisfaction,” Briana finished, the realization hitting her. “Right after praying to God...”Briana was momentarily paralyzed, her jaw slack. Then, she picked up her fork and resumed eating the crepe.Luana leaned back in her chair, saying nothing more.
