Briana sat comfortably in her sleek office, engaged in a casual yet anticipatory conversation with Sandro.

Their talk meandered through family updates and business topics, but Briana’s focus was on a particular piece of news she’d been waiting for.

“Well, Dad?” she asked with a mix of curiosity and hope. “When are you and Mom coming here to work?”

Sandro leaned back in his chair, his expression warm but resolute.

“Sweetheart,” he began in his usual paternal tone, “I have some news. It’s good for me, but it might disappoint you.”

Her brow furrowed. “What kind of news is that? Sounds hard to believe.”

“I won’t be working here,” he said simply. “Your grandmother was adamantly against my dismissal.”

For a moment, Briana was silent, her mind processing his words.

Then, with a faint smile, she replied, “So Grandma Althea decided to take your side, huh?”

His grin widened. “Yes, darling! Everything is going back to how it used to be!”

Her mixed feelings were evident. “I’m happy for you, Dad.

  • Chapter 665 No Hurry from the Parliament

Days are passing, and Mark still hasn't received an invitation to meet with the Parliament members, not even from his distant uncle, the current regent. Could it be that Parliament isn’t in a hurry to start the power transition, given that nothing extraordinary has happened in Aurelia? Mark took a deep breath. He grabbed his cellphone and dialed Linda. Linda, as always, answered from her operations center. “Good morning, Lord Ferro.” “Miss Mattes, have you received any communication from Parliament?” Mark asked with a furrowed brow. Linda held her breath for a few seconds, unsure of the nature of the question. Then she responded respectfully, “Lord Ferro, forgive me for my frankness, but I don’t believe Parliament would waste time on a mere servant like me.” Mark thought about that too, but... “Cut out the ‘mere servant’ talk; you’re very useful to me. However, Parliament still hasn’t contacted me, and I don’t want to overstep by going there without being summoned.” Mark cou

  • Chapter 664 Has Katrina a Career Yet?

“What are you talking about?” Claudia brayed. “Are you saying Katrina won’t have a future at OUR company, the one bearing her name?” “Maybe.” Gilson shrugged and leaned back against the headboard. “Why are you being so cruel to your daughter?” Claudia lamented. “Am I being cruel to her?” Gilson raised his eyebrows. “I’m thinking about the opportunities Katrina will have when she leaves the entertainment industry. Isn’t she dating someone? I think some maid is gossiping about it.” Claudia finished pulling out the chair and sat down, irritated that Katrina’s private life was the gossip of some maids. “Tell me later the name of that maid so I can fire her. Even if that were true, what does one thing have to do with the other?” Claudia crossed her arms. “Katrina could get married, have children, be an excellent housewife, and be free of career-related problems.” Gilson smiled at the idea. “Our son Chris is graduating and will return from university, ready to take over the family bus

  • Chapter 663 Details Omitted

Moments later, Claudia and Katrina hid in the Vasconcelos Mansion’s library. Claudia didn’t even want to risk pulling the curtains — some maid might see her conferring with her daughter. Katrina lit the central chandelier and closed the door, locking it, turning the key twice as if that made it safer. Turning to her mother, she started to complain, “Mom, you know the story isn’t complete, right?” “Yes, I understood there’s more.” Claudia huffed. “If Briana also took the drug with coffee, she must have alleviated the symptoms in someone. Mark didn’t mention anything about taking her to the hospital in time.” “The poisoning happened inside Glamour. Mark was there as a clean worker. He said Briana was already feeling the effects of the drug,” Katrina recounted the details as if she were Miss Marple. “That means they did it somewhere hidden in Glamour, maybe in an empty little room!” “And that’s why they got married in secret!” Claudia exclaimed excitedly. “When they appeared at you

  • Chapter 662 Katrina Found a Weapon to Attack

Katrina sneered at Briana, feeling she would not allow others to see her as a victim. Maybe it was her chance to diminish, even slightly, Briana’s saintly image. Lowering her head, she asked, “You’re not willing to budge even a little of your opinion about me, huh? Even after I explained in great detail what really happened, you still think I intentionally did something to get caught the next day by the police in that monster’s room!” “Now you think he’s a monster?” Briana asked mockingly. “How could I not think so after the police revealed abundant evidence and proof?” Katrina retorted, irritated. “If you had believed me before...” Gilson interrupted, “I think, at this point, it’s not worth discussing the ‘if,’ everyone. Okay, Katrina made a mistake, she went alone to that pervert’s mansion. It happened. Let’s focus on what really matters.” Mark asked coldly, “And what really matters to you?” Althea replied, “What matters to us is understanding that Lawrence Sodré was a villa

  • Chapter 661 New Understanding

The argument among the Vasconcelos family members reached a tumultuous climax. Sandro noticed that his relatives were trying to blame Briana for Katrina having spent the night in Lawrence Sodré’s bed, while he was high on drugs and taking advantage of her situation to manipulate her. “Katrina, you can’t be serious! How many times do we have to repeat that you shouldn’t have gone alone to Sodré Mansion in the first place?” “As many times as you want!” Katrina snapped. “I said I was going there to save the contract we made with Sodré Bank!” “Briana already warned us about Lawrence’s true nature,” Nadir retorted. “You refused to believe it out of pure stubbornness. And even more, if you wanted to discuss the contract, how is it that you ended up sleeping with him?” Katrina flinched, her eyes showing she was caught off guard. She looked at Gilson and Claudia, seeing that her parents were equally perplexed, unsure how to help her. “Come on, Katrina. Answer this question,” Althea ord

  • Chapter 660 You Are the Favorite, Not the Only

Another actor from the series, dressed as a medieval warrior, held a printed script in Courier 10 Pitch in front of Karl. “The director wants to discuss today’s scenes with you. Did you bring your copy of the script?” Karl shook his head as if waking from a coma. “Yes, I’m going to meet him now. Did you see Celia?” The actor grinned mischievously, misinterpreting (or not) the inner feelings of the head supervisor. “Well, she hasn't shown up yet. Maybe she’s in someone’s dressing room, ‘assisting’ them.” Karl’s look grew dangerous, shooting the actor daggers. “Has she assisted you too?” “Of course, of course...” The actor chuckled. “But not the same way as Jake Brett.” “What does Jake have to do with all this?” Karl was about to grab the actor by his costume and lift him to punch him. “You know how backstage gossip works, Supervisor Carvalho.” the actor shrugged. “It seems Jake is everyone’s favorite here.” Karl felt like vomiting. It seems true what Luana said about Celia of
