That afternoon, in the modest living room of Karl and Luana's apartment, Briana finally noticed that Karl was standing before her in a shockingly unmodest state. With a flushed face and a growing sense of urgency, Karl clutched the couch pillow tightly between his legs in a last-ditch effort at decency.

“For the love of all that's unholy...” Briana muttered under her breath.

“I can explain, Briana—” Karl began, his voice tense.

But Briana raised a hand and took a step back. “There’s nothing to explain. I understand perfectly. You two really think you can escape the mess you’ve made by quarantining yourselves in here, hiding from the world?”

Before Karl could stammer out another word, Briana stormed off toward the bedroom.
