Mark met with Gene in the latter’s office. Gene was extremely worried about what Mark was telling him about Mary Ellen’s story.

“Lord Ferro, I didn’t know about this!” He exclaimed, dumbfounded.

Mark maintained his cold composure, saying, “You had no way of knowing, being the HR director, Gene.”

“But someone should know. I think you should place one of your agents here at Glamour.” Gene frowned.

“I wonder if our colleague who interrogated Mauro without subtlety had anything to do with this.” Mark snapped a finger, cracking his knuckles. “We haven’t had any more contact with him, right?”

“No, I haven’t heard anything else. What about the guys in gray?”

“They are still monitoring him from the hotel room. He’s staying at the Rocha Hotel here.”

As Mark said this, his cell phone rang. It was Vargas’s number, and Mark promptly answered, “Vargas, speak.”

“Lord Ferro, you won’t believe it.” Vargas seemed very surprised. “That fellow my guys have been following...”

“Yes?” Mark’s gaze hardened.

Mark and Briana didn’t want to be so anxious and hopeful about Katrina’s probable dismissal, even though it was urgently needed.“Dad, you shouldn’t get your hopes up too high,” Briana warned him. “There’s still Grandma to consider.”“What’s the problem with your grandma?” Sandro raised an eyebrow.“I wouldn’t say it’s a problem, but a natural reaction. Grandma Althea isn’t going to let Katrina leave that easily,” Briana reasoned.“Your grandma hasn’t been happy with Katrina these past few weeks,” Sandro reminded her. “And she still doesn’t know about the pregnancy. It’s not like she’d approve of it! Not when the other granddaughter is having a child according to the rules of a decent society.”“Well, then I have no choice but to regret it,” Briana sighed, looking out the window. “Katrina never makes her life easier, makes the worst decisions, and still finds time to blame me.”Mark had an idea, narrowing his eyes. “Could it be that, when we told her about our baby on the way and Katr

  • Chapter 725 Mary Ellen’s Contact Disappeared

“Well, now that I prevented a political crisis in the kingdom of Aurelia, I better go to another table and enjoy my break!” Luana waved goodbye and headed to another table, smirking sarcastically. Mary Ellen stood up abruptly, completely dissatisfied and feeling deceived. Did she really waste time chasing a story that would be impossible and could even harm her? The last thing she wanted was to be accused of espionage or treason against the Crown! Celia placed a hand on her shoulder. “Hey, don’t pay attention to Luana’s mockeries.” “She’s mocking, but there’s truth behind her harsh words,” Mary Ellen admitted as they left the café. Outside, the two friends continued their conversation. “Do you really think this man is someone who came to use you as an instrument of revenge?” “I don’t know... What should I really do, friend?” Mary Ellen’s eyes showed her growing fear. “I don’t want to cause problems for our government! I just wanted to write an interesting article about curiosi

  • Chapter 724 Pregnant Cousins at the Same Time

Sandro was surprised to see Mark so shocked over a gossip about Katrina. However, Mark was not happy about it at all. He furrowed his brow in a displeased scowl, already thinking about the side effects of such bitter news. “Mark, what’s the problem with Katrina being pregnant?” “Do you consider such a situation a blessing for your family?” Mark asked somewhat sharply. “No. Even Gilson didn’t agree with it. For the first time in many years, he reprimanded his restless daughter.” Sandro smiled as he remembered what Gilson had told him. Mark continued grimly. “Well, then imagine what this could mean for Briana. The two cousins who hate each other are pregnant at the same time. This is obviously yet another case of your niece competing against your daughter.” Sandro stopped smiling and narrowed his eyes. “Do you really think Katrina did this on purpose?” “I don’t think she predicted the exact day Briana would find out she was pregnant, but tell me, Sandro: why would Katrina continu

  • Chapter 723 Don’t Expose Lord Ferro, You Dumb!

“OH, there you two are!” Luana shouted, rushing over to Mary Ellen and Celia like a magnet pulling metal. Mary Ellen and Celia flinched at the table. Hadn’t they just said Luana wouldn’t let go of their trail? What does this obsessive woman want now? Celia stepped back, feeling disgust or fear. “Luana Barros, if this continues, we’ll file a restraining order against you!” “Come on, cut the drama!” Luana shrugged. “I’m not a threat to you.” “Oh, really? And what about the blow you gave to my head? I could have died of a cerebral hemorrhage!” Mary Ellen yelled, alarming the other patrons of Sweet Aroma. Celia gestured for Mary Ellen to speak quieter. “We should leave.” Luana deliberately stood in front of Celia. “Not so fast. I need to discuss something serious with you.” “We have nothing more to discuss!” Mary Ellen also prepared to stand. Luana raised her hand, stopping her. “NO! The matter is more about you! Briana explained to me how serious the article you’re failing to wr

  • Chapter 722 Did Something Happen?

Mark’s smile gradually faded as he listened to Karl’s response. “Uh... what exactly did you say?” Karl kept his triumphant smile. “I finally cut all ties with Celia Soares. That bitch will never be a nuisance between me and Luana again!” Mark wasn’t liking this at all. Celia was his ex-wife, but that didn’t mean people could mistreat her at will... “Karl, I hope you said those things to end the trouble and not to rekindle it.” “Believe me, Mark: if anything happens, it won’t be on our initiative.” Karl gestured. Mark grew more serious, recalling what Luana had recently done. “Are you including your girlfriend in that statement?” “Exactly!” “You shouldn’t.” Mark pinched the bridge of his nose. “Phew... How am I going to tell you? Luana attacked again, this time, Mary Ellen.” Karl’s joy and confidence slowly faded with this news. “What happened?” “Your girlfriend mocked Mary Ellen for not being able to deliver an article on time. An article about Lord Ferro,” Mark replied cau

  • Chapter 721 I Won’t Give Up

Mary Ellen was finishing her coffee at Sweet Aroma. The door opened, and someone entered. Clayton Lemes, the mysterious man who has been keeping many awake at night, approached her hurriedly before Mary Ellen could get up or ask for the check. “Miss Diaz! What happened to our article that still hasn't been published?” He asked in a low but urgent tone. Mary Ellen pursed her lips, thinking about the coincidence. “Mr. Lemes, unfortunately, I wasn't able to write the article you commissioned. I was informed that the deadline for submission was today, but I still have nothing.” Clayton reacted indignantly. “That’s impossible! A great journalist like you would certainly go the extra mile to get something done.” “I think you’ve got the wrong profession for me.” Mary Ellen smiled ironically. “I’m a journalist, not a hacker.” Clayton sat at the table with his piercing gaze. “I’m sure you could do it if you put in more effort.” “Your words are so encouraging...” Mary Ellen blinked mocki
