Derek paused at the door, “I know you won't listen but I will say it anyways, you should be careful with Nicole and Ella,” Derek said and left, refusing to wait and hear the tantrum she had to throw.

“You are just being jealous! They are all better than you. You don't get to choose my life for me at all,” Maureen yelled in frustration.

“I can't wait for this fucking nine months to pass!” She muttered bitterly, covering herself up to sleep.

The next morning, Derek was done preparing for work, waiting patiently for Maureen to wake up.

“I'm driving myself to work, you can come on your own. It's work not some party,” Maureen mocked him, picking up her car keys.

Derek didn't reply her, he just followed her behind reaching for his own car. Derek was given a business car when Maureen's Father offered him a regular work at his company.

Firstly, he was made a regular staff but after two years of showing his talent and skills, he was made Maureen's assistant and offered a small company car. But that didn't make them change their behaviors towards him. They just want his benefits.

“Such a loser, I thought he would have insisted on joining me in the car. That would have gotten him some round of insults,” Maureen murmured as he watched Derek's car drive behind hers.

But after a while she didn't see his car again, she scoffed and laughed still staring out the mirror to check. But something didn't seem right to her. "Well, it's his business not mine!" She muttered nonchalantly, increasing her speed.

Derek was cornered by a black sleek Porsche car, he immediately lost sight of Maureen's car while he slowly monitored the movement of the car that cornered him.

“Shit!” He muttered as he pulled his car slowly to a stop. His anger increased, he looked at his time, “five minutes,” he mumbled and stepped out of his car.

He leaned back on his car, took out a cigarette and lighted it. Letting the smoke fill the air. That was a side of him that no one knows about.

Two giant looking men, with masked face stormed out of the black Porsche with weapons in their hands.

A quick smirk crossed Derek's face, as he watched them get closer. Once they were close enough, he threw the cigarettes on the ground and matched his foot on it.

The first man came for his neck but he dodged it and hit him on the stomach.

“Argh!” Derek screamed noticing, he wore something heavy on the inside.

He began to target their bare skin, seeing thay they came prepared, “seems like they kinda know me!” He thought to himself.

They came for him, hitting him so hard but he was busy searching for an uncovered part of their body to hold on to. Before they knew it, he flinged them both together by the neck, raising them high that they landed so heavily on the floor.

One of them screamed in pain but the other was mute. Derek rushed to uncover their mask but the silent one pushed him over and they ran back to the car and drove off.

“That was quick, exactly five minutes,” he whispered and drove off. He dialed Jaden's number immediately on his way.

“I think they are targeting me, I don't know if he knows my real Identity!” Derek muttered to Jaden, running his hands through his hair.

“Did anything happen,” Jaden asked curiously.

“Two men attacked me just now and they were fully prepared,” Derek replied, his voice deep but low. “They ran away after I attacked back,” he added, tapping his hands on his car steering.

“What? Attacked you?” Jaden screamed on the phone. “You think Nicole is behind it?” He asked eagerly.

“I know Nicole is behind it, and I also know that some is behind Nicole, and that's what I'm more interested in,” Derek said with a sad smile.

“Find out every movement of Nicole and where he hides!” Derek inquired lastly and ended the call. He was already in front of the company. He looked at the time and nodded lightly.

He sighted Maureen standing with a male figure but he was back him. “That must be Nicole, such a brave jerk! He had the guts to show up after his plans,” Derek mumbled, judging from the way Maureen was smiling and laughing with him.

Derek walked towards them, and immediately Nicole saw him, something flickered across his face. It wasn't shock or surprised, but an unreadable look of fear.

“I see you had so much important engagements,” Maureen said as soon as he saw Derek, rolling her eyes on him.

“Not really, I had an urgent issue to resolve, it couldn't wait” Derek replied with a smirk glaring at Nicole, who smiled and nodded silently.

Derek walked past them and headed to his office. He knew exactly all their plans but he was ready for every of it.

Just as he was arranging some documents, his phone ranged. The caller sent shivers down his spine. It was his dad, he knows that anytime his dad calls him, something is definitely up.

He walked towards the window and picked up the call, “hello Dad,” he spoke up immediately he answered the call.

“Derek!” His father called gently and paused without talking further.

“Dad, you are scaring me with your calls,” Derek muttered quietly, waiting patiently for what he has to say. He was expecting him to talk about Zilot, or tell him that people were after him.

“I think it's time to come back home,” his father said in a weak tone.

Derek's jaw dropped, “Dad! Are you feeling sick,” Derek asked worriedly, pressing his fingers on his eyes.

“Dad! Dad!” He called but the call had died down.

“No Dad! It's too early for this! I'm not even prepared yet!” He screamed, picking up a few things and rushed out immediately.

“Hell no! What is he doing here?” Steph whispered softly, her eyes widened as she turned to meet Maureen's dangerous gaze. “Gosh, he is so stubborn!” Maureen's jaw dropped, seeing how confident he walked in. “Something feels off! What is he up to this time?” She thought to herself, as her eyes followed Derek till he sat down. “I swear, I don't know anything about this!” She mouthed to Maureen innocently. All eyes turned to Derek, as he walked in peacefully, his shoulders high and bossy. “Fuck!” Damien mumbled slowly, his face lowly tilted down like he was avoiding his stare. Mr Alexander's lips were partly opened, as he glared at him. Derek walked in alone so they thought he was alone. Nicole wore a mixed expression, “Why are their faces like that? I guess no one was expecting him to show up! But at least, Someone could be held responsible for the fraud at the moment. Damien almost got me hooked!” All those thoughts ran through Nicole's mind as he glared anxiously at Derek. “Uh

“Who the fuck is disturbing my peace this night?” Derek mumbled through clenched teeth, as he watched his phone ring countless times, with an unknown number displaying on the screen. Derek and Mr Lincoln had been gathering enough information for the past few days. And on the night to the said day, Derek was resting his head, while his mind wallowed in thoughts. Just when his eyes were about to close for a brief sleep, his phone began to ring. At first, he ignored it, but after so many rings he looked at the screen, his eyes narrowed for a moment, as he sat up from the couch. “Why does this number seem familiar?” He mumbled and hissed, not picking up. The call stopped and then a message popped up. He opened the message, his eyebrows drew together in disbelief. “Steph?” He whispered slowly, his fist tightened on the phone as he read the message she sent to him. “Why would she take such a risk, what if her father finds out about this?” He murmured silently, as he continued reading

“Oh yes, you know exactly what I'm saying!” Steph mumbled back to her softly, and turned her seat to face her again. “Look what I found in dad's old closet!” She said again, and handed the paper over to Maureen. She looked at it carefully, tilting her head one side in confusion. “How dare you go to dad's closet? And what's this? Why is there another person’s full signature as the company's owner?” she asked surprisingly, tucking her head backwards like it was blocking her views. Steph didn't answer her, she just raised her hands in the air, shaking her head negatively. “I should be asking you those questions, at least you've been here all your life,” Steph said calmly, making Maureen look up to her with narrowed eyes. “Look, I don't have time for this!” Maureen said and threw the paper at her. “If you don't have anything else to say, please leave, before Dad calls!” She added immediately and turned to resume her work. Steph hissed and stood up, adjusted her clothes, she turned t

Derek scoffed silently, as he leaned closer to her, his eyes narrowing slowly. “Mrs Bells! I came here so you could help me out, why are you saying these words to me?” Derek drew back and sprang up immediately, his face furrowed in anguish. “Look, Derek, I am a mother. You're like a son to me and I don't want you to end up fighting your family enemies the remaining days of your life!” She said softly, exhaling heavily. Those words must have come from the deepest part of her heart. She slowly took his hands to calm him down. Derek stared at her for a while, before sitting down quietly. He wringed his fingers together, tilting his head down in deep thoughts. He raised his head from time to time to glance at Mrs Bells. After some minutes of silence, Derek raised his head slowly and exhaled with a breaking nod. He faced her directly and said, “Look, Mrs Bells, I totally understand what you're saying. To be honest with you, since my dad died, I've been hiding.” Derek ran his hands t

“We've checked out all the possible means, but we couldn't find anything suspicious. I know you do these things so well, so I asked Nicole to call you over,” Mr Alexander spoke to Jaden as he continued glaring at him secretly. “I need you to also get your friends hiding place. He's been away for too long and no one could reach to him!” He added strictly, staring deeply into Jaden's eyes. “I don't know where Derek is, and it's been long we talked because he's been avoiding me since the last time!” Jaden said politely, shrugging his shoulders. “I don't believe you, don't let me suspect you, or are you guys planning something against me because it will never work!” Mr Alexander said furiously to Jaden who scoffed silently. “Are you trying to control me because my father is gone?” He asked himself, his chest rising with fast breaths. “Are you guilty of something, why would anyone plan anything against you if you're innocent?” He asked Mr Alexander, his muscles twitching. “Shut up! s

“What? Please Sir, I'm not a thief. I'm just here to see the owner of this!” Derek screamed immediately, raising his face up as he handed over the paper to him. Mr Ethan took the paper from him, his eyes widened as he looked at it. He stretched out the paper, stared at Derek, and looked back at the paper. “Mr Lincoln sent you? Wait? Are you…..?” He asked with narrowed eyes, dragging his words and still not finishing his statement. “Follow me immediately!” He said sharply again even before Derek could express himself or even say a word. Derek sprang up immediately and followed him behind, he turned his back to glare at those men he had issues with, a slow smirk spread through his face and he turned front. “Please, excuse us!” He said to his men, and they paused outside without entering his office. “Welcome Mr Romano!” He said immediately Derek closed the door behind him. Derek's face looked a bit confused and relieved at the same time. “Finally,” Derek exhaled and sat down quiet
