Chapter 11

At that precise moment, upon hearing Master Lawrence's harsh declaration about removing Alex from consideration entirely, something remarkable happened among the assembled military leaders. Henry King, the legendary King of War, visibly straightened his shoulders and puffed out his chest with unmistakable pride.

Lewis Brown followed suit immediately, his posture becoming more confident and assertive.

All the other elite commanders present began displaying the same behavior - standing taller, squaring their shoulders, and wearing expressions of barely concealed satisfaction.

They were all literally feeling a surge of triumphant pride coursing through their veins. The good-for-nothing Alex wasn't anywhere to be seen during this critical moment.

That worthless excuse for a husband had once again proven his complete unreliability when his family needed him most. With Alex completely out of the picture, they had absolutely nothing to worry about regarding competition for Rose's affections. The field was now wide open for any of them to step forward and claim the position that Alex had so pathetically abandoned.

Henry King's eyes gleamed with satisfaction as he glanced around at his fellow men, all of them sharing the same unspoken thought.

This was their golden opportunity to prove their worth to Rose Lawrence and show her what a real man looked like in times of crisis.

Lewis Brown couldn't help but smile slightly as he adjusted his uniform jacket, making sure his medals and insignia were prominently displayed.

He had been waiting for years for a chance like this to demonstrate his superiority over that disappeared coward.

The other head commanders exchanged meaningful looks with each other, each one calculating his own chances of winning Rose's heart now that the biggest obstacle had conveniently removed himself from the equation.

But at that exact same moment, hearing her father's cold dismissal of Alex, Rose felt her jaw muscles tighten involuntarily with a complex mixture of emotions she couldn't fully understand or control.

Yes, she was undeniably angry and disappointed that Alex had seemingly vanished again when she desperately needed his support. She really did want to see him here beside her, fighting to help save their daughter.

She really wanted to give Alex at least this one opportunity to prove himself, to show that he had truly changed and could be the father and husband their family deserved.

Deep in her heart, she knew that little Lilly would definitely want to see her daddy during this terrifying ordeal.

Their daughter had always been closer to Alex than to anyone else, and his presence would provide the comfort and security that only a father could give. But now Alex was nowhere to be found when it mattered most.

Rose took a deep, steadying breath as she fought to regain control of her swirling emotions. She absolutely refused to allow this devastating situation to completely deteriorate her mental state or weigh her down with paralyzing despair.

She had been surviving as a single mother dealing with heartbreak and abandonment for five long years now, and she had learned how to be strong even when everything seemed hopeless.

The painful truth was that she literally didn't know if she had made another terrible mistake by choosing to trust Alex again after all this time.

Maybe her parents and everyone else had been right all along about him being unreliable and worthless. Maybe she had allowed her heart to overrule her better judgment once again, setting herself up for the same crushing disappointment she had experienced five years ago.

But regardless of her personal feelings about Alex and his mysterious disappearance, she absolutely had no regrets about the decision to come here and fight for her daughter's life.

Her maternal instincts were crystal clear on this matter - Lilly's safety and wellbeing were her utmost priority above everything else in the world.

Nothing else mattered compared to getting her precious five-year-old daughter out of that monster-infested area alive and unharmed.

Rose straightened her shoulders and looked directly at each of the brave military leaders who had rushed here to support her during this nightmare.

Her voice carried genuine warmth and gratitude despite the terrible circumstances.

“I want to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for what you have done by putting your own lives on the line just because of my daughter. You didn't have to come here and risk everything for us, but you chose to stand beside me anyway. I am truly, deeply grateful for your courage and loyalty.”

Henry King nodded solemnly, his battle-scarred face showing quiet determination.

Lewis Brown stepped forward slightly, his hand resting on his weapon as he prepared for whatever dangers awaited them inside the evacuation zone.

The other commanders all displayed similar expressions of resolve and readiness.

But just as Rose finished expressing her heartfelt appreciation, Master Lawrence's voice cut through the moment with bitter venom and contempt.

“Unlike that good-for-nothing, worthless fool who always wants to reap the benefits where he never planted any seeds or did any of the actual work.”

Immediately the evacuation commander's face turned dark red with humiliation and rage. He couldn't believe that some desperate woman had actually dared to strike him across the face in front of all his subordinates. His authority had been publicly challenged and undermined in the worst possible way. Every soldier under his command had witnessed a civilian assault their commanding officer without consequence.Although he had to admit that Rose was an exceptionally beautiful woman, that wasn't going to save her from facing serious consequences for her actions. He was going to make sure she learned a harsh lesson about respecting military authority and chain of command.“Sergeant Rodriguez! Lieutenant Chen! Corporal Williams!” he barked out orders to his men. “Surround these three civilians immediately! Form a defensive perimeter around them!”Immediately his soldiers quickly moved into position, creating a tight circle around Rose and her parents. Each man had his hand resting on his we

The moment Rose heard the emergency announcement echo through the city hall, she was already sprinting toward the entrance at full speed. Her heart pounded with terror as she shouted over her shoulder that her daughter was somewhere in the Cliff Area - the exact location the voice had mentioned was under demon attack.Everyone in the hall immediately followed behind her. Military officers, awakeners, and civilians all rushed toward the exits in a chaotic stampede. The formal gathering was completely forgotten as people pushed past each other to get outside. However Alex didn't follow the crowd through the main entrance. Instead, he slipped out through a different exit on the opposite side of the building. His face was grim with determination. This wasn't just about Rose's daughter anymore. That little girl was his daughter too, and there was no way he was going to let some demon hurt his own child.Within minutes, everyone who had been at the hall was racing through the city streets t

Rose spoke up quickly, her voice stronger now as she defended Alex in front of everyone.“He's right. Alex is definitely an awakener.”All she wanted in this moment was to be reunited with Alex, to have her family back together again, her man, her husband. And thankfully, that dream could actually become reality now that everyone had seen proof that Alex possessed real power. She would never have been able to marry him again if he was just a normal human. Not with her Golden State energy that could kill regular people. But now that he had proven himself as an awakener, everything had changed.Henry King nodded his head slowly, his military mind already analyzing what he had witnessed.“Yes, I agree with Rose. My assessment is that Alex has reached the fifth stage of the Warrior Realm. It's definitely impressive that he learned how to copy one or two of the Dragon King's techniques. But people need to understand something important.”He paused and looked directly at Alex with a serious

Immediately without anyone time Lewis rushed forward on shaking legs to get a closer look at what had just happened. His mind couldn't process what his eyes had seen. There was absolutely no way Alex should have been able to destroy that golden bell with just his bare fist. Especially not after Henry King had secretly made it five times stronger than normal.Lewis tried to calculate in his head what kind of power it would take to completely shatter a bell with that much magical energy flowing through it. And to do it with a single punch using no weapons or spells. The numbers didn't make sense to him. That level of strength was completely off any chart he knew about.“I told you I passed beyond the Warrior Realm a long time ago.”Alex brushed the golden dust off his knuckles and started walking back toward the platform like nothing unusual had happened.Master Lawrence and Mrs. Lawrence stood frozen in place, staring at the scattered pieces of metal on the floor. Their minds struggled

At that moment Rose stood frozen on the platform, her whole body shaking with fear. Master Lawrence and Mrs. Lawrence watched everything happening below with cold expressions. They didn't care one bit if Alex got himself killed. As far as they were concerned, this nobody had already ruined their daughter's future once before. Now he was back to destroy her second chance at a good life.“Alex, please just listen to what they're telling you. Do what they want you to do.”Rose's voice cracked as she begged him to back down. But Alex just gave her a half smile that didn't reach his eyes.“There's no way in hell I'm letting these men steal my wife away from me. As a man, I have to prove that I'm strong enough to deserve a woman like you. If I can't do that, then I don't deserve to be in the same room as these idiots!”Every face in the hall turned dark with anger when they heard Alex's words. People couldn't believe someone with no rank or power would dare talk to military commanders like
