Chapter One
“What the fuck is still keeping you in the kitchen, you wretched bitch?!” A deep voice growled from the dining room causing the man in the kitchen to tremble in fear. It was Leonard Parker, James’ father-in-law. “I'm almost done, sir. I'll be there in a few minutes.” James Thomas’ heart skipped and raced heavily while responding politely. Leonard was a physique body-built man who always beat him up constantly, not because he had no strength, but because he showed him respect as his elder and, most especially, his father-in-law. “You better be fast with whatever you're doing, fool!” Leonard barked, settling comfortably on the chair in the dining area. He then sighed exasperatedly, letting his angry face slowly shift to that of concern. “Olivia?” He called out to his daughter, James’ wife, calmly. “How's the company going? Getting better?” He asked. Olivia let out a frustrating sigh and reluctantly nodded her head, “Yes, it's moving fine. I'm just putting in my best to see that things work out well.” She replied, leaning forward on her seat. “So sorry, sis. You have been doing this all alone without any assistance.” Amelia, Olivia's younger sister, said, clearly concerned. “And please, know that we're right behind you. Don't stop. Our family's financial stability depends on this family company. Keep striving, okay?” Grandma Aurora added. “Thank you, Grandma.” Olivia nodded, feeling eased. “I'll forever continue to put in my best.” She replied and Aurora smiled, impressed by her answer. “Indeed, you're taking after—” She halted in her words immediately James walked in with a tray of dishes in his hand. Aurora's smile quickly faded away, twisting into a disdainful look. Everyone equally looked at him disdainfully except Evelyn. It took them, if not almost everything in them, to spit in his face. “Here he comes. Such a wretched and useless man.” She spat, her anger towards James flaring. “So useless that he can't even support the family in terms of finance. Just wondering why he's still living in this house.” Her gaze shifted between James and Olivia before finally settling on James. She had always instructed Olivia to file for a divorce but Olivia wasn't heeding despite her hatred for James. James only sighed, ignored her, and started to dish out the meal into each bowl, setting them in front of everyone. He occasionally looked at Olivia, his wife with admiration. Olivia was dressed in a pink gown and her black hair was neatly packed, cascading at her back as she settled comfortably on the chair. Her face was thick with makeup, adding to her beauty which shone like the morning star. “James, what kept you so stuck in the kitchen? You should know that Olivia had some tasks to tackle today and she wouldn't leave without having her breakfast.” Evelyn questioned, her voice soft. James glanced at Olivia before shifting his eyes to Evelyn, “I'm sorry, Mom.” He apologized, sincerely. “I was just—” He tried to explain but Olivia angrily cut him off. “Just shut up and stop trying to give those nonsense excuses of yours!” She yelled, her eyes blasting with anger. James looked at her and only sighed. Her anger towards him seemed to increase day after day. And he wondered why she even agreed to marry him in the first place. James began to serve the meal to everyone, ignoring the insults they were all throwing at him. “He's so pathetic that I can't bear to even look at him.” Grandma Aurora twisted her face in disgust. “It irritates me each time I do. Just wish he could be wiped from the surface of the earth.” She added, coldly. James threw a sharp and piercing look at her. If looks could kill, Aurora at that moment, would have been a dead woman. To him, Grandma Aurora's ruthlessness was the worst but everyone in the family was just the same except for Evelyn, his mother-in-law, who, out of pity, never joined them. “Mother, it's best we shouldn't talk to him like that.” Evelyn intervened, addressing Aurora. “He's a grown-up man and has a family. Insulting him is only bringing down his self-esteem.” “Self-esteem my foot!” Aurora scoffed, angrily. “Does he even have confidence in himself? He's been married to Olivia for a good three years and has done nothing to prove that he's a man and here you're talking about self-esteem.” “Mom, this man here is just nothing but a burden to this family,” Olivia added, supporting Aurora and retorting Evelyn's and her mother's words. James only remained silent, listening to all their insults. His eyes were formed with tears, and a tear almost dropped from his eyes, but he held them back. The insults didn't start that day. It has been since he became the live-in-son-in-law of the family. Although he had gotten used to their insults, being truthful to himself, it was really draining him off. “It hasn't been my fault, Grandma.” James, after dishing out the meal and setting them in front of everyone, summoned the courage to speak; his voice was adorned with emotions. “I've been looking out for different jobs but none is working out for me.” He explained. Everyone shot him a deadly shot. This is what he had been saying for the past years now. Evelyn only sighed, clearly tired of his usual excuses. “That's because you're useless. Wretched, senseless, and useless all at the same time.” Aurora fired. “How do you expect anyone to employ someone like you, huh? Tell me.” She glared at James, waiting to hear his response. None came. She then sighed exasperatedly and was about to shoot him another word, but Leonard interjected for the first time. “Mom, why waste your time on a useless thing like him?” He asked, firing James a fierce stare that almost daggered his heart. “Let's eat and have something important to do with our time instead of wasting it.” Just after that, everyone daggered their gazes at James one more time before concentrating on their meals. Once the lids were lifted, the aroma of the meal wafted into the air, giving the atmosphere a nice scented odor. However, everyone's faces remained stern as they began to eat except for Evelyn who complimented after a spoonful taste, her voice barely above a whisper, “Well-cooked rice and stew.” She nodded approvingly. She smiled, giving James a well-done thumb up. Everyone also secretly nodded their heads, impressed but pretended they didn't like it. Leonard looked up to James, “And why are you still standing there?” He sneered, “Get out and go get yourself useful! Bitch!” James shamefully bowed his head to the ground and started to walk away. But Olivia called after him, “Hey, come back here!” Her voice echoed with contempt and authority.

Olivia purposely allowed him to stand there as she ate calmly without saying the reason for the call. James’ patience grew thin, his heart clenched while watching her. Evelyn couldn't endure it anymore so she snapped at Olivia, “You called him; why kept him waiting?” Her face was a bit of a frown. Olivia looked at her mother and replied coldly, “He has nothing doing so standing there isn't anything crime. It's part of exercise.” She mocked. Then she cleaned her mouth with a white tissue on the table. Taking a sip of the chilled glass of water on the table, she then addresses James, “I'll be leaving for the office soon with my black car.” She paused, observing James’ reaction. Seeing no fault, she added coldly, “I want you to get the white car washed because I'll make use of it tomorrow.” James stared at her in disbelief and his cheeks flushed with

Chapter 3 Evelyn sighed, looking at him, sincerely worried, “I overheard your discussion with Olivia. I'm just worried, this marriage might not last much longer. ” She said, blinking her eyes. James was silent, his face calm yet unyielding, “I understand your point, Mother, but it will.” He replied, shaking his head. “I love Olivia and deep down, I know she loves me too.” He said, firmly. Evelyn let out a relieved breath and reluctantly said, “Hmm…I pray so…” And walked away. As Evelyn walked away, James stood in silence for a moment, letting Evelyn's words linger. Then he remembered Olivia's car and with a deep sigh, he headed back outside to wash the car, his mind already turning to the day ahead. Ten minutes later, he had finished washing the car and he went to his room to take his bath. Entering the room, he shut the door behind him and headed to the bathroom after pulling off his clothes. Soon, he was out with a white thick towel wrapped around his waist, feeling ref

Chapter 4 The lady looked at the man, disbelief crossing her eyes, “Why? Why has he said so?” She asked, trying to get things clear. “I don't know his reason.” The man slightly shrugged his shoulders. “Just do as instructed if you still love your job.” With this, the man stormed out again. His conversation with the lady wasn't above a whisper which left all the applicants murmuring after he left. The lady's mind lingered on the man's words for some moment. Why had the boss just decided to cut off the interview all of a sudden? What could be the issue? She mumbled to herself, her brown eyes rolling around. She sighed frustratedly, torn apart. Hesitantly, she cleared her throat and drew everyone's attention to herself again. The room fell into silence again as she addressed them again with a sorry expression. “So, sorry everyone—” she began, “my Boss just arrived at the environment and had demanded the immediate stop of this interview. The aura instantly changed as a result of his expensive perfume spraying all over his body. He was wearing a branded quality brown suit with a golden Rolex rotating on his high-profile watch. I Am Extremely Rich Chapter 7: James Faces Humiliation At Home
Chapter 7 James’ mind continued to race with different thoughts as he headed back home, trudging on the lit streets, bustling with activities. His mind swirling with endless questions he couldn't answer. “He's my father. I was the one in his locket, but how is he that rich?” He mumbled, his shocked eyes rolling around. Disbelief crossed his mind and his chest tightening. “And since he is, why don't I forgive him and take over everything as the heir? Shouldn't I be happy that I finally found my father after so many years? Why don't I go back to him rather than going to that annoying house to get insulted?” He asked himself, torn on what decision to take. If he goes back to his father, his life will change for the better and if he heads back home, he'll continue to face humiliation from everyone. And he was tired of that. Shaking his head, he decided, “I won't go back to him. If he claims to still love me, he'll definitely come for me as his son.” James said, walking home. A

Chapter 8 The door to the office was opened after a knock came from outside, and a vibrant-looking lady in her professional demeanor walked in, her shoes clinking on the tiled marble floor. Walking further inside and bowing her head, slightly, she said to a man seated opposite where she stood, “Sir, you sent for me?” Thomas smiled with a nod, “Yes. A young man by the name ‘James Thomas’ applied for a job position here, right?” The lady only nodded and he continued, “I want you to call and inform him that he has been chosen with a monthly pay of $9,000.” The lady's eyes flew wide open, looking at her boss with skepticism. Even with her position, she wasn't earning close to the amount mentioned. “But sir, no interview was conducted. And we don't know if the person mentioned is qualified for the job position or not.” She said, masking her shock. “There's no need for any interview with this actual person.” Thomas corrected, “he's my son and I just found out after the incident th

Chapter 9 Breaking the next day, James had already prepared breakfast for the family and he was also dressed up with a file in his hand as he went downstairs, pretending to go for another job hunting. Grandma Aurora, on seeing him, stepping down, shot him a cold, dead gaze, “Where's he going again today?” She frowned and everyone who hadn't noticed James’ presence turned to look at him. “Hehe, probably going out to disgrace himself again.” Amelia and Caleb said in unison, laughing mockingly. “And is that not the same clothes he put on yesterday? Why is he putting them on again today?” Leonard chided in, clearly annoyed and honestly sick of James’ presence in the house. James heard their taunting words but it was all meaningless to him at that point. Because his coming back to the house was going to be a huge shock to everyone. “Good morning, everyone,” he said with a wide smile, “I'm going out, and the breakfast is already prepared. I'll be back in no time.” He announced

The high ceilings held a sparkling chandelier raining down lights and the walls were adorned with ornate rugs, priceless artwork exuding wealth. The velvet sofas and intricately carved wooden tables were plushly arranged in the hall. James' eyes darted to the huge windows draped with heavy, flowing curtains, then to the crystal vases filled with fresh scent flowers; he gasped audibly. Every detail felt rich and intentional. “This…..is called wealth,” James mumbled, impressed. Glancing around the hall filled with people trying to take their seats, James spotted Olivia with a lady, having a conversation and he walked towards them. Another said, barely above a whisper, “He's so handsome. Meanwhile, at the entrance to the main hall where the birthday party was to take place, the security guard there blocked James' path after letting Olivia go in. A hint of irritation ran through his eyes as he let them trail over James reiteratively. He wasn't expecting to see someone like him in this place. Meanwhile, Olivia arrived at Harris’ compound, Mary's place, with her old Nissan Versa. She drove further into the available space in the parking lot and came to a halt, carefully parking. As Olivia stepped out, her gaze fell on the cars already parked there and she gasped audibly, apprehending the force Mary's father's birthday party would carry. Beside her car were Mercedes AMG, Rolls Royce, Range Rover, etc. Hers was the only odd one out. Olivia's face blushed with a mix of shame and embarrassment but she tried to keep a composed demeanor as she saw more cars driving in. James then stepped out too, and a shocking shiver ran down his spine. “Wow, t—these are mind-blowing.” He admitted, his voice wavering. However, he tried not to stare much to avoid being embarrassed as he followed Olivia from behind. The compound was filled with people of caliber, all well-dressed. Olivia bit her lips, nervously and gave a slow nod, “Yes, Granny. My friend asked for it so I—” She tried to answer when Grandma Aurora interjected, displaying fury. “And you consented to it?” She asked, her voice sharp and filled with irritation. “How could you agree to it? Don't you know this is an attempt to mock our family—the Parkers?” Olivia just swallowed hard, listening to everything her grandmother was saying. Her head was slightly facing the ground in shame. Grandma Aurora continued, pointing at James with contempt, “Take a look at him, does he even look any good to follow you to such a significant event?” James just stood, crossing his arms as he listened but the words were having no negative effects on him. Instead, he was smiling lightly to himself, finding the words humorous. Leonard also wanted

Olivia winked, “Why? Haven't I been looking beautiful before?” James quickly shook his head, indicating that was not what he meant. “Nah, I mean you look more different in the gown I bought for you. It just looks perfect on you.” Olivia's face twisted into a tight frown as she moved forward dramatically and shut him off. “No, go on…” she said, annoyed, “come on, go ahead and tell the whole world you bought a replica for me, and I accepted.” James' eyes flashed with confusion about how Olivia was just getting him all wrong, however, he didn't say a word. Olivia continued, a hint of disgust lacing in her voice, “You should be ashamed of yourself that guys of your age are getting their wives expensive things and here you are, making noise about gifting me a replica. And so you know…. I'm not putting this on after today. I only accepted it because I don't have any new clothes to put on.” Janes opened his mouth to speak, but Olivia cut him off again, this time before he could ut

James and Olivia both looked at each other, confused about Evelyn's last word. To carry on with what exactly? Olivia raised her eyebrows with a slight frown, “This woman is so unbelievable at times.” She said under her breath. James shook his head and a small smile crept over his face, knowing Evelyn's intention for making such a comment. She was trying to get Olivia and him close to each other. Funny. He then held the towel wrapped around his waist about to pull it off to oil his boy…. At that same moment, after letting out a deep sigh, Olivia turned around only for her sharp gaze to land on James when he was on the verge of removing his towel. Chapter 57 Stepping into the room, James locked eyes with Olivia's. He slightly averted her gaze, closed the door behind him, and moved further into the room. “Olivia,” he called out, placing the gown on the bed. “I bought this for you.” He said, observing how she was going to react. Olivia raised a surprised eyebrow at him before reluctantly sitting up on the bed. Dropping her phone down, she asked, looking at James before eyeing the nylon bag. “You bought something for me.” She furrowed her eyebrows, “what is it?” James nodded with a smile, “It's something you'd love, please, check it out yourself.” He gestured to the bag, wanting Olivia to open it by herself. Olivia shifted her body on the bed as her gaze locked with James’. Doubt crept onto her face, not believing what James was saying. But after giving James a last glance, she hesitatedly drew the nylon bag close to herself and started to unwrap it with an impatient expression. James stood, his arms lapping across h

Without a word he leaned back on his seat, his face lit up with joy again after taking another glimpse at the packaged gown. The driver, still interested in having a conversation with James, spoke again after several reluctances, his voice was calm and a mix of concern and worry, “Sir…it seems like you have a little cut on your forehead, what happened? Chapter 55 Before the woman could outrun James to beg him, James turned, giving her a cold glare void of any emotions, “Don't!” He stopped her with his hand and gave a shrug, “Who knows–I was going to get a necklace from you worth $700, but you actually blocked your way by yourself, so it's actually not my fault! Your bad approach caused it!” The woman wore a genuine regret now but James had already concluded that it was over. Just as the woman opened her mouth to say a word, James walked away entirely from the store arena. She only stared at James as he walked away with rue, tears forming in her eyes. She couldn't hold them back anymore and she let them stream down her cheeks. “You deserve better than this!” Sandra said with a cold voice. “Judging people by their appearance will never bring any good to your life. Change!” She said and ran off to catch up with James alongside Walsh. After they approached him, James took a deep breath, trying to shake off the scene that h
