Chapter 4
The lady looked at the man, disbelief crossing her eyes, “Why? Why has he said so?” She asked, trying to get things clear. “I don't know his reason.” The man slightly shrugged his shoulders. “Just do as instructed if you still love your job.” With this, the man stormed out again. His conversation with the lady wasn't above a whisper which left all the applicants murmuring after he left. The lady's mind lingered on the man's words for some moment. Why had the boss just decided to cut off the interview all of a sudden? What could be the issue? She mumbled to herself, her brown eyes rolling around. She sighed frustratedly, torn apart. Hesitantly, she cleared her throat and drew everyone's attention to herself again. The room fell into silence again as she addressed them again with a sorry expression. “So, sorry everyone—” she began, “my Boss just arrived at the environment and had demanded the immediate stop of this interview. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this might cause you, but I urge you all to please leave and come back some other time.” She instructed before hesitantly taking her leave immediately, leaving the tense atmosphere resolved. Frustrated, some of the applicants began to rant, shaking their heads in disapproval at what seemed like unprofessional treatment. This company was the biggest in town and had gained so much respect, honor, and trust in the world of business. And such a dismissive act from them was unwelcomed and unexpected. Sighing deeply, everyone stamped their feet angrily on the ground, and with clenched hearts, they stormed out of the hall. Meanwhile, James watched everyone as they left. He ran his hand through his hair, his frustration not hidden. It was clearly written on his face boldly. He was expecting to secure this job to at least start providing for himself and supporting Olivia since she was the only one, everyone in the family depended on every need and wants in the family. Again, how was he going to get back home without this job after paying $10 for the fare? His mind raced with several unending thoughts. His face instantly turned pale like a white paper. This wasn't the first time he was facing this kind of thing. He tried to shake the whole thought from his mind but it was impossible. The thoughts kept increasing the more. James then found himself walking slowly to the elevator, his feet heavy with disappointment. His shoulders slumped, and his head hung low, the weight of everything crushing him. Entering the elevator, James’ trembling hand pressed the ‘L’ button, his face still downcast. Downstairs, James stepped out of the elevator, still lost in thoughts as he walked, looking frustrated. But then, he accidentally walked into someone, which caused everyone's face to widen in shock. Their mouths flew open. James’ mouth also flew open. His eyes broadened in great astonishment and his body began to vibrate in fear. His bladder almost brought out urine, seeing the man that he just stepped on. His brown envelope instantly fell from his shaky hand to the ground. The man appeared to be around the age of seventy. He was wearing a gray tailored suit with silk ties in elegant patterns and colors hung around his neck perfectly. His outfit was beautified with high-end polished Oxford shoes that paired perfectly with his outfits. His simple, elegant yet expensive wristwatch matched wholly with his striking appearance despite his age. He is the Boss of the company, with six intimidating men in black suits trailing at his back with graceful strides and unsmiling faces. “Ah, did you just see that? He just stepped upon him.” Someone there muttered, cupping his mouth with her hand. “He's a dead man.” Another replied, aware the bodyguards weren't going to go friendly with James. “Blind?” The bodyguards echoed angrily at James in unison. Their faces already tightened and their hands already balled into fists as they took angry steps forward to bounce on James “I'm sorry, please, don't hurt me. It was all a mistake.” James begged, his lips trembling with fear as he began to step backward with a little starting to form on his forehead. But the bodyguards weren't listening to him. Their ears at that moment were temporarily deafened to his pleas. Everyone that was watching the scene started to shake their heads with sympathetic pity towards James. James, on his side, wished to have a slight space to rush to the old man who he had stepped on to beg for forgiveness but it was already too late. The bodyguards had already surrounded him and were about to teach him the unforgettable lesson of his life. However, before they could strike James with their clenched fists, a deep and firm voice ordered from the back, “Stop! Don't touch him!”

It was still pondering too fast in fear. The onlookers’ expressions also changed from that of pities to that of surprises. Their expectations were twisted. The aura instantly changed as a result of his expensive perfume spraying all over his body. He was wearing a branded quality brown suit with a golden Rolex rotating on his high-profile watch. James watched as the old man approached him, his body shivering heavily, feeling uncomfortable. Getting to James, the old man pulled off his dark sunglasses, staring inten

I'm an orphan, sir.” He said, getting on his feet.Thomas also stood up, emotions, guilt, and embarrassment washed over him, “And what about the name?”Yes! James knew his surname was Thomas and his grandfather's name was Crag. He only knew about his grandfather's name as a result of a story told to him by people when he was growing up.But he shook his head, “Anyone can bear any name similar to another but that doesn't mean he's the person.” James replied, almost sounding rude. You're my long lost son, James.” He stepped out from where he seated to touch James but he moved back, vigorously shaking his head once more.Thomas’ expression changed to regret, his eyes almost downcast, yet with a determined face, he said, trying to be persuasive, “I know this is unbelievable, but you are.
I Am Extremely Rich Chapter 7: James Faces Humiliation At Home
Chapter 7 James’ mind continued to race with different thoughts as he headed back home, trudging on the lit streets, bustling with activities. His mind swirling with endless questions he couldn't answer. “He's my father. I was the one in his locket, but how is he that rich?” He mumbled, his shocked eyes rolling around. Disbelief crossed his mind and his chest tightening. “And since he is, why don't I forgive him and take over everything as the heir? Shouldn't I be happy that I finally found my father after so many years? Why don't I go back to him rather than going to that annoying house to get insulted?” He asked himself, torn on what decision to take. If he goes back to his father, his life will change for the better and if he heads back home, he'll continue to face humiliation from everyone. And he was tired of that. Shaking his head, he decided, “I won't go back to him. If he claims to still love me, he'll definitely come for me as his son.” James said, walking home. A

Chapter 8 The door to the office was opened after a knock came from outside, and a vibrant-looking lady in her professional demeanor walked in, her shoes clinking on the tiled marble floor. Walking further inside and bowing her head, slightly, she said to a man seated opposite where she stood, “Sir, you sent for me?” Thomas smiled with a nod, “Yes. A young man by the name ‘James Thomas’ applied for a job position here, right?” The lady only nodded and he continued, “I want you to call and inform him that he has been chosen with a monthly pay of $9,000.” The lady's eyes flew wide open, looking at her boss with skepticism. Even with her position, she wasn't earning close to the amount mentioned. “But sir, no interview was conducted. And we don't know if the person mentioned is qualified for the job position or not.” She said, masking her shock. “There's no need for any interview with this actual person.” Thomas corrected, “he's my son and I just found out after the incident th

Chapter 9 Breaking the next day, James had already prepared breakfast for the family and he was also dressed up with a file in his hand as he went downstairs, pretending to go for another job hunting. Grandma Aurora, on seeing him, stepping down, shot him a cold, dead gaze, “Where's he going again today?” She frowned and everyone who hadn't noticed James’ presence turned to look at him. “Hehe, probably going out to disgrace himself again.” Amelia and Caleb said in unison, laughing mockingly. “And is that not the same clothes he put on yesterday? Why is he putting them on again today?” Leonard chided in, clearly annoyed and honestly sick of James’ presence in the house. James heard their taunting words but it was all meaningless to him at that point. Because his coming back to the house was going to be a huge shock to everyone. “Good morning, everyone,” he said with a wide smile, “I'm going out, and the breakfast is already prepared. I'll be back in no time.” He announced

He didn't know what to say or even when to start from. His face beamed with readable joy, “Thanks Dad, I will.” He finally said, nodding. Thomas waved his hand casually, “Now, tell me, how have you been doing? I'm sorry for abandoning you for the years.” His voice was laced with deep remorse and emotions. James took a deep breath before he responded, “Don't want to talk about my past years, Dad. It has been suffering with hard labor yet no good report.” A tear almost dropped from his eye. Thomas was emotionally moved by his words. He felt a hint of embarrassment and shame washed over him. His son had been suffering yet he had been living in luxury. He gently reached out to his hand and took it into his, “I’m sorry, son. I have to let you go through all of that for…” “You don't need to apolog

I'm sorry.” He said, his voice unwavering and devoid of any form of lie. “Wow, that's good news, James.” Evelyn clapped her hands, genuinely elated. But everyone's faces twisted in surprise. “At least, you can fend for yourself. I'm glad you did it.” Evelyn further moved forward, placing her hand warmly on James' shoulder, her smile widening. “Thank you, Mom,” James returned her smile before letting them settle on Olivia who couldn't say anything. His hand twisted into a fist and his face tightened, “How dare you talk back at me?!” He made an angry move to lash out at James, but Olivia stopped him. “Stop, Dad. Please, stop.” Olivia said calmly but Leonard's anger didn't cool down. His face remained contorted with anger. “I'll handle this.” She added and walked to James, pointing her finger at her, “Did you realize you're talking to my father? Or have you gone crazy or something?!” James only looked at her, his chest tightening. He didn't want the whole situation to linger further so he sighed annoyedly and walked away. “Such a dirty pig he is,” Leonard sneered after him, “no wonder, he's been given a gate guard post.” He added, his face filled with disgust. James heard him but didn't turn around. A few minutes later, when he got to his room, he slammed the door gently and fell on the bed, shaking off the words of his family. As he lay on the bed, his face staring at the ceilin

As James entered the hall, his foot stepping onto the glossy marble floor, his jaw dropped to the ground in astonishment. The hall was an extravagant room, feeling luxurious and grand. The high ceilings held a sparkling chandelier raining down lights and the walls were adorned with ornate rugs, priceless artwork exuding wealth. The velvet sofas and intricately carved wooden tables were plushly arranged in the hall. James' eyes darted to the huge windows draped with heavy, flowing curtains, then to the crystal vases filled with fresh scent flowers; he gasped audibly. Every detail felt rich and intentional. “This…..is called wealth,” James mumbled, impressed. Glancing around the hall filled with people trying to take their seats, James spotted Olivia with a lady, having a conversation and he walked towards them. Meanwhile, among the crowd, a lady dressed in a crop-topped shirt and a pair of pants revealing her soft and smooth thighs, embraced Olivia into a warm hug, smiling broadl

Another said, barely above a whisper, “He's so handsome. Prince charming!” “His father must be a billionaire and he….the heir.” A third person joined in, her mouth dropped to the ground in awe. “If not for the bodyguards, I would have gone to take pictures with him and frame it but I'm afraid….I might get beaten up.” While all these were going on—the flirting words from the ladies, the respective waves from the guys, and also the steadied gazes from onlookers, Joshua just carried himself with pride without paying any attention to them. Meanwhile, at the entrance to the main hall where the birthday party was to take place, the security guard there blocked James' path after letting Olivia go in. A hint of irritation ran through his eyes as he let them trail over James reiteratively. He wasn't expecting to see someone like him in this place. So, he said, “Who are you and where are you going?” The security guard asked James with a frown, his arms crossed. With an eyebrow ar

Meanwhile, Olivia arrived at Harris’ compound, Mary's place, with her old Nissan Versa. She drove further into the available space in the parking lot and came to a halt, carefully parking. As Olivia stepped out, her gaze fell on the cars already parked there and she gasped audibly, apprehending the force Mary's father's birthday party would carry. Beside her car were Mercedes AMG, Rolls Royce, Range Rover, etc. Hers was the only odd one out. Olivia's face blushed with a mix of shame and embarrassment but she tried to keep a composed demeanor as she saw more cars driving in. James then stepped out too, and a shocking shiver ran down his spine. “Wow, t—these are mind-blowing.” He admitted, his voice wavering. However, he tried not to stare much to avoid being embarrassed as he followed Olivia from behind. The compound was filled with people of caliber, all well-dressed. Grandma Aurora's eyes fell on him, screwing up into a mixture of disdain and tight frown, “Are you going out with him?” She asked, burning James with so much hatred. Olivia bit her lips, nervously and gave a slow nod, “Yes, Granny. My friend asked for it so I—” She tried to answer when Grandma Aurora interjected, displaying fury. “And you consented to it?” She asked, her voice sharp and filled with irritation. “How could you agree to it? Don't you know this is an attempt to mock our family—the Parkers?” Olivia just swallowed hard, listening to everything her grandmother was saying. Her head was slightly facing the ground in shame. Grandma Aurora continued, pointing at James with contempt, “Take a look at him, does he even look any good to follow you to such a significant event?” James just stood, crossing his arms as he listened but the words were having no negative effects on him. Instead, he was smiling lightly to himself, finding the words humorous. Leonard also wanted

Olivia winked, “Why? Haven't I been looking beautiful before?” James quickly shook his head, indicating that was not what he meant. “Nah, I mean you look more different in the gown I bought for you. It just looks perfect on you.” Olivia's face twisted into a tight frown as she moved forward dramatically and shut him off. “No, go on…” she said, annoyed, “come on, go ahead and tell the whole world you bought a replica for me, and I accepted.” James' eyes flashed with confusion about how Olivia was just getting him all wrong, however, he didn't say a word. Olivia continued, a hint of disgust lacing in her voice, “You should be ashamed of yourself that guys of your age are getting their wives expensive things and here you are, making noise about gifting me a replica. And so you know…. I'm not putting this on after today. I only accepted it because I don't have any new clothes to put on.” Janes opened his mouth to speak, but Olivia cut him off again, this time before he could ut

Evelyn hurriedly shook her head with a smile, “Not really, James. Come to check if you were back….and here you're…I think I have to give the both of you space to carry on…” She rushed out of the room, closing the door behind her before James or Olivia could even say a word. James and Olivia both looked at each other, confused about Evelyn's last word. To carry on with what exactly? Olivia raised her eyebrows with a slight frown, “This woman is so unbelievable at times.” She said under her breath. James shook his head and a small smile crept over his face, knowing Evelyn's intention for making such a comment. She was trying to get Olivia and him close to each other. Funny. He then held the towel wrapped around his waist about to pull it off to oil his boy…. At that same moment, after letting out a deep sigh, Olivia turned around only for her sharp gaze to land on James when he was on the verge of removing his towel. Her eyes flinched and she immediately covered her face w

Chapter 57 Stepping into the room, James locked eyes with Olivia's. He slightly averted her gaze, closed the door behind him, and moved further into the room. “Olivia,” he called out, placing the gown on the bed. “I bought this for you.” He said, observing how she was going to react. Olivia raised a surprised eyebrow at him before reluctantly sitting up on the bed. Dropping her phone down, she asked, looking at James before eyeing the nylon bag. “You bought something for me.” She furrowed her eyebrows, “what is it?” James nodded with a smile, “It's something you'd love, please, check it out yourself.” He gestured to the bag, wanting Olivia to open it by herself. Olivia shifted her body on the bed as her gaze locked with James’. Doubt crept onto her face, not believing what James was saying. But after giving James a last glance, she hesitatedly drew the nylon bag close to herself and started to unwrap it with an impatient expression. James stood, his arms lapping across h

The driver cleared his throat and repeated, “I mean….how you helped those random strangers with $300 each. I saw that.” “That?” James gave a casual wave of hand, “They are not random strangers—they are like family to me, so it's nothing.” Hearing that, the driver's eyes blinked in surprise yet intrigued. “Oh, I see.” He said softly. “That means you're worth millions if you can give someone $300 in just a second.” “Okay.” James just casually said, shrugging his shoulders. Without a word he leaned back on his seat, his face lit up with joy again after taking another glimpse at the packaged gown. The driver, still interested in having a conversation with James, spoke again after several reluctances, his voice was calm and a mix of concern and worry, “Sir…it seems like you have a little cut on your forehead, what happened? Chapter 55 Before the woman could outrun James to beg him, James turned, giving her a cold glare void of any emotions, “Don't!” He stopped her with his hand and gave a shrug, “Who knows–I was going to get a necklace from you worth $700, but you actually blocked your way by yourself, so it's actually not my fault! Your bad approach caused it!” The woman wore a genuine regret now but James had already concluded that it was over. Just as the woman opened her mouth to say a word, James walked away entirely from the store arena. She only stared at James as he walked away with rue, tears forming in her eyes. She couldn't hold them back anymore and she let them stream down her cheeks. “You deserve better than this!” Sandra said with a cold voice. “Judging people by their appearance will never bring any good to your life. Change!” She said and ran off to catch up with James alongside Walsh. After they approached him, James took a deep breath, trying to shake off the scene that h
