Chapter 4
The lady looked at the man, disbelief crossing her eyes, “Why? Why has he said so?” She asked, trying to get things clear. “I don't know his reason.” The man slightly shrugged his shoulders. “Just do as instructed if you still love your job.” With this, the man stormed out again. His conversation with the lady wasn't above a whisper, which left all the applicants murmuring after he left. The lady's mind lingered on the man's words for some moments. Why had the boss just decided to cut off the interview all of a sudden? What could be the issue? She mumbled to herself, her brown eyes rolling around. She sighed frustratedly, torn apart. Hesitantly, she cleared her throat and drew everyone's attention to herself again. The room fell into silence again as she addressed them with a sorry expression. “So, sorry everyone—” she began, “my Boss just arrived at the environment and has demanded the immediate stop of this interview. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this might cause you, but I urge you all to please leave and come back some other time.” She instructed before hesitantly taking her leave immediately, leaving the tense atmosphere resolved. Frustrated, some of the applicants began to rant, shaking their heads in disapproval at what seemed like unprofessional treatment. This company was the biggest in town and had gained so much respect, honor, and trust in the world of business. And such a dismissive act from them was unwelcome and unexpected. Sighing deeply, everyone stamped their feet angrily on the ground, and with clenched hearts, they stormed out of the hall. Meanwhile, James watched everyone as they left. He ran his hand through his hair, his frustration not hidden. It was clearly written on his face boldly. He was expecting to secure this job to at least start providing for himself and supporting Olivia, since she was the only one; everyone in the family depended on her for every need and want in the family. Again, how was he going to get back home without this job after paying $10 for the fare? His mind raced with several unending thoughts. His face instantly turned pale like a white paper. This wasn't the first time he was facing this kind of thing. He tried to shake the whole thought from his mind, but it was impossible. The thoughts kept increasing the more. James then found himself walking slowly to the elevator, his feet heavy with disappointment. His shoulders slumped, and his head hung low, the weight of everything crushing him. Entering the elevator, James’ trembling hand pressed the ‘L’ button, his face still downcast. Downstairs, James stepped out of the elevator, still lost in thought as he walked, looking frustrated. But then, he accidentally walked into someone, which caused everyone's face to widen in shock. Their mouths flew open. James’ mouth also flew open. His eyes broadened in great astonishment, and his body began to vibrate in fear. His bladder almost brought out urine, seeing the man that he just stepped on. His brown envelope instantly fell from his shaky hand to the ground. The man appeared to be around the age of seventy. He was wearing a gray tailored suit with silk ties in elegant patterns and colors that hung around his neck perfectly. His outfit was beautified with high-end polished Oxford shoes that paired perfectly with his outfits. His simple, elegant yet expensive wristwatch matched wholly with his striking appearance, despite his age. He is the Boss of the company, with six intimidating men in black suits trailing at his back with graceful strides and unsmiling faces. “Ah, did you just see that? He just stepped on him.” Someone there muttered, cupping his mouth with her hand. “He's a dead man.” Another replied, aware that the bodyguards weren't going to go friendly with James. “Blind?” The bodyguards echoed angrily at James in unison. Their faces already tightened and their hands already balled into fists as they took angry steps forward to bounce on James “I'm sorry, please, don't hurt me. It was all a mistake.” James begged, his lips trembling with fear as he began to step backward with a little sweat forming on his forehead. But the bodyguards weren't listening to him. Their ears at that moment were temporarily deafened to his pleas. Everyone who was watching the scene started to shake their heads with sympathetic pity towards James. James, on his side, wished to have a slight space to rush to the old man whom he had stepped on to beg for forgiveness, but it was already too late. The bodyguards had already surrounded him and were about to teach him the unforgettable lesson of his life. However, before they could strike James with their clenched fists, a deep and firm voice ordered from the back, “Stop! Don't touch him!”Latest Chapter

Chapter 86Heads turned toward the direction, and Olivia emerged, her expression calm, but her eyes burning with resentment as they fell right away on James. She was putting on a knee-length skirt and a tailored button-down shirt, her figure radiating beauty. Her face was covered with light makeup, her lips smooth with an applied orange lipstick.A man gasped, stunned. “She's his wife? She looks so beautiful. I can't believe this!" He shook his head. Another tried to wrap his head around. “A bastard having such a beautiful lady as his wife and she agreed to stay with him? That's weird.” Another said in disbelief, everything in him—soul, mind, and spirit—all fixed on Olivia as if he'd be the better person for her. “I can't believe this as well," he mumbled, his voice hardly above a whisper. He paused, processing everything very well. Then he added after a minute. “He must have cast a spell on her, exploiting her.” One person nodded in agreement. “That's right." His gaze flicked to

Chapter 85 The room fell silent. The mockery halted. All gazes on James. Charles’ pleasing smirk faltered. His body stiffened. James didn't flinch, his sharp, cold gaze scanning everyone's faces as if daring them to speak. “I own this place, and if any one of you dares continue with your belittling words, I'll throw you out, or you won't like what might happen to you. Try me.” His words came out cold, almost threatening. No one spoke. Everyone exchanged glances, blinking with confusion, some of them slightly scared because of James' confidence. James fixed his gaze on Charles, nodding his head, silently urging him to dare. But Charles couldn't speak at that moment. For some time, he felt some seriousness in James' words….the boldness he hadn't witnessed in him before. He just swallowed hard, observing. However, a headstrong one among the crowd, trying to show his arrogance, stepped forward, uttering, “I know people like you….” he said, pointing an accusing fi

Chapter 84As James walked downstairs, staring at the environment, not believing he'd control all of this once his father was out of the country. His mind was occupied with thoughts of everything. And without knowing—He clashed with a figure. Bang! The figure staggered backward, but quickly regained his pose. His nostrils flared up with rage as he glared at the figure that had collided with him. “You bastard! Were you blind to see me coming?” He growled.James turned to apologize, but before he could, the figure had already seized him, grabbing him by the collar. His gaze sharpened by the swift action. However, realization hit him as he took in the figure. It was Charles—Mary’s boyfriend—whom he had met last night, and they had coincidentally checked into the same hotel.Charles paused as he recognized James too. “....Oh, it's you. Would have known it's a bastard like you who doesn't watch where they're going.” He pushed James back roughly.James held himself and reluctantly stra

Chapter 83The next morning, Olivia was already dressed with her small purse hanging around her shoulder. She examined herself properly in the mirror before heading downstairs. As she stepped down, her family members—her Grandma, Aurora, and her father, Leonard—were seated in the living room having a conversation. She walked further and greeted. “Good morning, Granny. Good morning, Dad." Grandma Aurora raised an eyebrow. “You're dressed up?" She checked the time and asked in surprise. “This is just after eight. Where are you going?" Leonard also looked at her, curiosity in his eyes as he anticipated Olivia's answer.Olivia adjusted her purse, exhaling slightly. Just as she was about to respond, Evelyn, her mother, walked out of the kitchen, joining them in the room.Surprised, she asked. “Olivia, you're going out already? Won't you have some breakfast? I'm already preparing something in the kitchen.”"Good morning, Mum,” Olivia responded before a sigh escaped her lips. Shaking her h

“No, this is real,” James muttered, snapping himself out of his thousand thoughts. “It isn't some fantasy. It's really happening.” He nodded firmly, glancing around. Although he knew everything was really happening, he still expressed a bit of doubt. “Can't believe I'll be handling all of these one day. But look at me today, I'll start handling companies worth billions. Hmm…” He exhaled, slowly going lost in thoughts again. Before he could be swallowed by his deep thoughts, his phone buzzed up for an incoming call. Snapped out, he reluctantly pressed the answer button. “Hello, James. Where are you?” Olivia asked, her voice low, seemingly half awake. “It's already too late and you aren't back home.” James sighed slightly. And a faint smirk escaped his lips. “Really?” He exclaimed, his voice calm but bitter. “Why are you asking like you truly care?” Olivia scoffed. “And who told you I do?” Her voice raised with sharpness, cutting the air like a sharpened blade. “I don't give

James sat up slowly. He exhaled, shaking his head slightly. “No, Dad,” he responded, his voice firm. He didn't want to bother him with his family issues. “I just decided to lodge in for the night. Everything is fine. No quarrel at all.” Thomas looked at him. “Are you sure of what you are saying?” He asked, skeptical. “The last time we met I heard how she talked to you over the phone. If anything is going on, please, let me know.” He locked his eyes into James'. “You have everything any woman could ask for, what else does she want from you?”James swallowed hard, his face paled. “Not really, Dad,” he said, “she believes I'm poor. That's what I created in them. Never revealed my wealth to them.”“And because of that, she treats you like trash?” Thomas frowned, and his grin disappeared.James couldn't speak right away. Hesitatingly, he replied calmly but firmly. “Yes. There's this guy, his name is Joshua Arthur. He's trying to create some kind of hatred in her toward me.”Thomas blinke
