I stood there in complete silence, my mind struggling to process everything Sonia had just said.

The word divorce echoed in my thoughts, not as a simple statement, but as something distant and overwhelming, like a sound that refused to fade no matter how much I tried to suppress it.

For several long moments, I could not even find my voice.

Gradually, I opened my mouth as if learning how to talk.

“No,” I said at last, shaking my head as I forced the word out. “No, I won’t accept this.”

The man continued crying.“Rose! Somebody help my daughter!”The man who had been shouting was kneeling beside her, visibly shaken. His hands hovered over her as though he wanted to help but did not know how.“Rose… please… open your eyes…” he pleaded, his voice trembling.I stepped forward and asked calmly, “What happened?”The man looked up at me, his face streaked with tears. At first, he seemed disoriented, but then he began to explain in a rushed, broken voice.“I just came out of the house,” he said. “I heard people screaming, and when I got here, she was already on the ground. They said a car hit her while she was trying to cross the street.”He shook his head repeatedly, clearly struggling to accept what had happened.“She was fine just moments ago,” he added, his voice breaking. “She was just playing…”I nodded slightly and looked down at the girl. Her breathing was uneven, and her convulsions were becoming more erratic. The blood at her lips suggested internal injury, and fr

By the time I reached the compound gate, I slowed down and eventually came to a stop. The night air was cool, brushing lightly against my face, but it did nothing to ease the heaviness inside me. For a few moments, I simply stood there, staring ahead at the empty street, replaying the scene in my head. Then my thoughts shifted. Not to Sonia. Not to Greg. But to the bodyguard.I lifted my hand slightly, staring at my palm as if I could still feel the echo of what had just happened.“So… it has begun,” I murmured under my breath. My voice sounded distant even to me.“The life and death balance has finally activated.”I let out a slow breath and leaned slightly against the gate, my eyes narrowing as I tried to piece everything together.“That man attacked me,” I continued quietly, almost as if I were explaining it to myself. “And without even touching him… I sent something into his body.”I paused, my expression tightening slightly.“A disease,” I said softly. The realization settled h

Sonia’s call connected after only a few seconds, and she immediately placed it on speaker without even glancing in my direction, as though she wanted every word to be heard clearly.“Dad,” she said, her voice sounded urgent, “I just got back to the suite with Greg, and Leonard is here making a scene.”There was a brief pause on the other end before her father’s voice came through, sounding sharp and alert. “What do you mean, making a scene? What happened?”Sonia drew in a breath, her tone shifting just enough to sound distressed. “There is something important I need to tell you in person,” she said quickly. “Please come immediately. Greg is in danger. Leonard attacked him.”The effect of her words was immediate.“What?” her father’s voice rose in anger. “What nonsense is this? What has gotten into that boy? Has he completely lost his senses?”His anger was unmistakable, even through the phone.“I will be there right away,” he continued without hesitation. “I am bringing the bodyguards

I will not allow it.”Behind her, Greg let out a low, amused laugh, the sound was filled with arrogance. It was the kind of laugh meant to belittle, to provoke, but I paid him no attention. My eyes remained fixed on Sonia, searching for something—anything—that might still connect us.“I am not le

  • CHAPTER 10

“Sonia…” My voice was not loud, but it was enough. The sound of her name from my mouth cut through the room like a blade. Sonia froze immediately. Greg’s hands were still on her waist, but the moment she heard me, she stiffened and quickly stepped away from him. Greg turned his head slowly. Our eyes met. Instead of looking surprised or guilty, he smirked. It was the kind of smirk that said he had already won. Sonia turned around fully, and when she saw me standing there, her expression shifted from shock to something complicated. “I… I didn’t expect you back so early,” she said. Her voice was not trembling. That hurt more than if it had been. I stood where I was, my mind still struggling to accept what I had just witnessed. “What exactly were you planning to say?” I asked quietly. “After I just walked in and saw you kissing him?” The room felt unbearably silent. Greg casually adjusted his suit as though nothing inappropriate had happened. Sonia rubbed her forehead as if sh

When I walked out of the banquet hall, it was still morning. The streets were not crowded yet. I walked without direction, my hands buried deep inside my pockets.Sonia’s words kept replaying in my head. “You embarrassed me in front of everyone, and I didn’t expect that from you.”Each time I remembered the look in her eyes when she said it, something inside me broke painfully. I had faced ridicule my entire life without blinking, but hearing it from her felt different. It was not the insult that hurt. It was the dismissal. The way she had looked at me as if I truly was nothing.I stopped at the corner of the street and let out a slow breath.“If only you knew who I truly am,” I muttered to myself quietly. “If you knew what I gave up, what I ran from, you would not have spoken to me that way.”A faint, bitter smile touched my lips.“I healed you,” I whispered under my breath. “And this is how you see me.”Before I could sink deeper into my thoughts, dark clouds suddenly rolled over
