The second he shut the door, his staff began to gather. Word had spread quickly, Ryan Walker had returned, and he was safe.

Applause broke out. Genuine applause. It echoed throughout the company building. Men and women from every department, from interns to senior managers, stood clapping, smiling with relief.

The restaurant fell into a deep silence as Julian’s trembling hands kept pressing his phone screen again and again, trying desperately to refresh the banking app, hoping that somehow the numbers would change. But no matter how many times he refreshed it, no matter how many times he pressed the button as though pressing harder would change reality, the balance kept showing the same thing—0.00.“Son of a…” Julian cursed under his breath. A thick wave of humiliation swept over him. Sweat formed on his forehead, his lips parted as though words might come out, but no words did. Elizabeth stood beside him, gripping her bag so tightly that as she felt like hanging onto something for support. “Julian!” She murmured into his ears, wondering why it wasn't still working.Julian was too busy at first that he couldn't even respond to her yet. His hand kept hitting the screen in frustration.“Julian, she's really calling the police. Hurry up and show her we have money,” she said again but there

Every pair of eyes lingered on Elizabeth and Julian as though they were performers on a stage, trapped under a spotlight they could not escape. The elegant woman stood firm, her stained million-dollar gown dripping with sauces and ruined delicacies. She crossed her arms, her chin lifted like that of a queen passing judgment on peasants.“You will pay for the food you wasted,” she said slowly, each word came out like she was counting her words, making sure that every word sank into them. “You will provide Fifty thousand dollars to the waitress now, and provide 1 million dollars to my designer to get a new dress of the same worth for me, also now.”Elizabeth’s body tensed. She felt her pride suffocating her, her humiliation blended with anger until it became too much for her to contain. For minutes she had begged and pleaded, her voice cracking, her dignity crumbling, but now, something inside her remembered she was Elizabeth McCarthy and could be as cold and rude as the woman. She drew

It feels… normal, after everything that has happened.”Ryan gave her a small smile, sipping his wine slowly. “Normal is something I want you to have more of. Even if just for an evening.”Claudia’s heart warmed at his words.
