Laura stood outside the entrance to the White mansion where she was expecting King's arrival.

“Are you sure this is going to work?” Jonathan asked, standing next to Laura. “What if this man turns out to be a disappointment?”

Laura turned to face her father, a frown drawn on her expression. “Do you have any better ideas?”

Jonathan sighed, but couldn't give her a satisfactory answer.

All his friends and associates had deserted him when they learned about the Raven enterprise crisis.

Nobody in their right mind will risk paying such an outrageous debt of $260 million without a massive interest rate.

The Raven family couldn't afford to get into new debts. King was their only solution.

Just then, a jet-black Mercedes-Maybach S-Class ‘Haute Couture pulled up outside the front of the White mansion.

There were only 150 units of this car in the world and only three owners in North Hills.

Laura held her breath as the chauffeur stepped out and opened the rear door, revealing the luxurious

  • The President's loan

The voice on the other end hesitated, then the President said carefully, “Mr. Sullivan, with all due respect, we still have time. Wasn’t the agreement that repayment would commence three years from now? You can't just change terms like this overnight.”Barry's voice was as cold as ice. “Yes,” he said evenly. “But I’ve changed my mind. I want my money back. Now.”There was silence. Then came the subtle sound of shuffling paper, muffled movements, and the creak of leather as someone sat up straighter on the other end of the call. Barry could picture the President scrambling, perhaps pacing his office in growing panic.“Barry, please,” the President said hurriedly. “Even if I wanted to, I can’t repay that right now. That amount... it's too large to liquidate on short notice. My administration would crucify me. Please. I'll do anything. Just give me more time.”Barry remained silent for a little while, letting the tension build. Then he said, “Well… there is one thing you can do for me."

  • The corrupt judge

The news of Dayton's arrest spread like wildfire across Z city. Every major outlet blared the same headline: "Business owner Dayton Arrested for Attempted Murder of His Own Daughter." Every news channel, online platform, and blog had picked it up. It was a huge scandal that brought shame and disgrace to the Dayton legacy. In his penthouse, Harold lounged on a cream-colored leather couch, sipping from a crystal glass of aged bourbon as the TV blared the breaking news.“…Mr. Dayton is currently in custody and awaits trial. He’s being charged with attempted murder, sabotage, and conspiracy. Legal analysts say if convicted, he could face up to 35 years in prison…”Harold lazily reached for the remote. With a flick of his thumb, he muted the TV, shaking his head in amusement. "Tsk... so that old bastard was behind it all along," he muttered to himself. "What a pain in the ass." Just then, his servant hurried into the room, holding out a phone with a bow. "Your father is calling, sir

  • A father's sin

The room remained gripped in silence as Dayton’s confession settled like a storm cloud. One by one, his children and in-laws slowly turned to him, their faces pale with shock and betrayal.“Dad…” Elliot whispered, “Why? Why would you do this to Eleanor?”“She’s your daughter!” Serena added, her voice trembling. “How could you want her dead?”Lydia’s voice cracked as she stepped forward, shaking her head in shock. “I always knew you were a hard man, but… this? I wouldn’t even go that far. I may have hated Eleanor sometimes, but I’d never try to kill her!”Dayton clutched the edge of the table, his face ashen. “I didn’t mean for it to happen like this…” he said. “I was frustrated. Furious. She made us lose everything… I told one of the servants to tamper with her brakes. I was blinded by rage. I thought… if she were gone, everything would calm down. The lawsuit would end… the damage would stop.”“You ordered a hit on your own daughter,” Damian said sharply. “That’s attempted murder. Yo

The room cracked open with stunned silence.Lydia’s phone slipped from her hand and hit the floor with a dull thud.Elliot’s jaw dropped. “What…?” he stammered.Serena’s eyes darted to the others, seeking confirmation. “Wait… what did he just say?”“You’re lying,” Dayton said, his voice barely above a whisper. “You can’t be… Barry Sullivan is a trillionaire. You—you're just—”“A nobody? A con man? A useless husband?” Barry finished for him, his tone razor-sharp. “That’s what you all thought, didn’t you?”He placed both palms on the table and leaned in.“I suppose I should tell you the truth now,” he said, his voice calm but commanding. “I am not Eleanor's husband. Her husband died… a day before I was first brought before you all.”A sharp gasp broke the stillness. Everyone’s eyes widened. Lydia blinked rapidly. Elliot’s mouth hung open. Even Mr. Dayton's jaw slackened, his hands gripping the edge of the table.“I was a stand-in,” Barry continued, unmoved by their shock. “Eleanor was d

The moment Barry sat at the table and uttered the words, “Let’s begin,” the room erupted like a powder keg.“What the hell is this?!” Lydia shot up from her seat, her mouth hanging open. “Barry?!”“Is this some kind of twisted joke?” Elliot barked, slamming his palm on the table.Damian furrowed his brows and muttered, “Why is he here? Wasn’t he—?”Serena finished his sentence, her voice laced with confusion, “—dead? I saw the news. Skull fracture, ten broken bones… You were in a coma or something.”Mr. Dayton’s face contorted in confusion. “You—how are you even walking? I got reports from the news! Said your skull was smashed like a watermelon.”Barry remained seated, calm and unreadable. He didn’t acknowledge the barrage of shocked questions. Instead, he simply looked around the room, letting the noise die on its own. When it finally quieted, he said coldly, “Not one of you showed up at the hospital. Not once did any of you visit Eleanor after the accident.”A sharp silence fell ov

Sebastian stood patiently outside Eleanor’s apartment, leaning against the metal rail as the soft hum of the evening wind swept through the street. The sky was slowly dimming, painted in streaks of orange and purple. He looked at his watch, then toward the corner of the road where headlights approached.Barry's Honda Civic rolled up and parked by the curb. The engine gave a tired cough as it died down, and a moment later, Barry stepped out.Sebastian straightened immediately, walking briskly toward him. “So,” he asked, eyes searching Barry’s expression, “how did it go, master?”Barry looked weary and drained of energy. His shoulders sagged and his eyes were heavy, but most of all, there was disappointment etched deep in his face.“He’s not the one,” Barry said softly. He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a small, silver ring. It glinted faintly under the evening light as he placed it into Sebastian’s palm.Sebastian looked down at it. This ring has a special ability to de
