Adrian Vale had everything a man could dream of—wealth, power, a billion-dollar empire, and the woman he planned to marry. Then, in one night, he lost it all. Framed for stealing $40 million from Vale International, Adrian is disowned by his father, betrayed by his best friend, and abandoned by his fiancée. Before he can prove his innocence, a suspicious car accident leaves the world believing he is dead. Three years later, Adrian returns under a new identity as Adrian Black, a mysterious billionaire investor whose wealth rivals the empire that once belonged to him. He has only one goal: take back everything they stole from him. But as Adrian begins dismantling the people responsible for his downfall, he discovers that his betrayal was far more complicated than he imagined. His former fiancée may not have betrayed him. His father may have known more than he admitted. And somewhere inside his family’s empire lies a secret powerful enough to explain why someone wanted Adrian dead. Now Adrian must choose between revenge and the truth—and uncover the enemy hiding behind the people he once trusted most. Because losing everything was only the beginning.

Chapter 1

THE DAY I LOST EVERYTHING

The day I lost everything began with a photograph.

It was sitting on every television screen in the city.

My face.

My name.

And beneath it, the word that destroyed my life.

THIEF.

I stood in the middle of my father’s office, staring at the television.

The news anchor continued speaking.

“Thirty-year-old Adrian Vale, heir to the Vale International empire, is accused of embezzling more than forty million dollars from the company.”

My hands tightened.

Forty million dollars.

I had never stolen a single cent.

Yet there were bank transfers.

Company records.

Signed documents.

Everything pointed toward me.

Everything had been prepared perfectly.

“Adrian.”

My father’s voice came from behind me.

I turned.

Daniel Vale stood near his desk.

My father.

The man who had taught me how to run a company.

The man who had once told me that I would inherit everything he had built.

Today, he couldn’t even look at me.

“Tell me you didn’t do this.”

His voice was quiet.

I stared at him.

“You know I didn’t.”

“Then explain the documents.”

“I can’t.”

His expression hardened.

“That’s not an explanation.”

“I don’t know who did this.”

My father looked toward the television.

The reporter was showing another document.

My signature.

My name.

My authorization.

Someone had forged everything.

But the forgery was almost perfect.

“I trusted you,” my father said.

Those four words hurt more than anything else.

“Dad—”

“Don’t.”

He held up his hand.

The office door opened.

My uncle Victor walked in.

Behind him were three members of the company’s board and my best friend, Marcus.

I looked at Marcus.

He wouldn’t meet my eyes.

My stomach dropped.

“What’s happening?”

Victor placed a file on the desk.

“The board has voted.”

I stared at him.

“Voted on what?”

“You are suspended as CEO.”

I laughed once.

Not because anything was funny.

Because I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

“You’re suspending me?”

Victor looked at me calmly.

“You’ve been accused of stealing forty million dollars.”

“Accused.”

“With evidence.”

I looked at my father.

He said nothing.

Then I looked at Marcus.

My best friend of fifteen years.

“Marcus.”

He finally looked at me.

His eyes were filled with guilt.

“What did you tell them?”

He swallowed.

“The evidence was on your computer.”

I stared at him.

“What?”

“I saw the transfers myself.”

“No.”

“You were the only person with access.”

“No.”

My voice cracked.

“Marcus, you know me.”

He looked away.

That was when I understood.

Someone had already decided my fate.

I turned toward my father.

“Do you believe them?”

He didn’t answer immediately.

That silence told me everything.

“You’re my son,” he finally said.

“Then believe me.”

“I want to.”

“But?”

His eyes became cold.

“But I can’t.”

Something inside me broke.

My father picked up a document.

“I am removing you from Vale International.”

The room went silent.

I looked at him.

“You can’t.”

“I can.”

“This company belongs to our family.”

“And you have disgraced that family.”

I took a step toward him.

“I didn’t do this.”

Victor spoke quietly.

“Perhaps you should accept responsibility.”

I turned toward him.

“You’ve wanted my position for years.”

His expression didn’t change.

“Be careful.”

“Why? Are you going to fire me?”

“I don’t need to.”

Victor smiled.

“The board already did.”

My phone suddenly rang.

Sophia.

My fiancée.

I answered immediately.

“Sophia?”

There was silence.

Then her voice.

“We need to talk.”

“Where are you?”

“At home.”

“I’ll come.”

“No.”

Her voice trembled.

“Don’t.”

My heart sank.

“Sophia, what’s wrong?”

“I saw the news.”

“I didn’t do it.”

“I know.”

I froze.

“You know?”

“I know you didn’t steal the money.”

“Then stay with me.”

Silence.

Then she whispered:

“I’m sorry.”

The call ended.

I stared at the phone.

For the first time that day, I felt afraid.

Not because I was losing the company.

Not because I was losing my fortune.

Because I was losing her.

Everything happened after that.

The police arrived.

The board removed me.

My bank accounts were frozen.

My credit cards stopped working.

The media surrounded the building.

By sunset, my name had become a joke.

By midnight, my father had officially disowned me.

And by two in the morning, I was driving alone through the rain.

I had nothing.

No company.

No money.

No family.

No fiancée.

Nothing.

Then headlights appeared behind me.

A black SUV.

It followed me for several miles.

I increased my speed.

So did the SUV.

My heart began pounding.

I reached for my phone.

Before I could call anyone, the SUV slammed into the back of my car.

My vehicle spun.

Metal screamed.

The world turned upside down.

Then came the impact.

Everything went black.

⸻

Three days later, the news reported my death.

ADRIAN VALE PRESUMED DEAD AFTER FATAL CAR ACCIDENT.

My father mourned.

Victor took control of Vale International.

Marcus attended my funeral.

Sophia stood beside my grave.

But the coffin was empty.

Because I wasn’t dead.

I opened my eyes in a small hospital room hundreds of miles away.

A stranger was sitting beside my bed.

He looked at me calmly.

“You’re finally awake.”

I tried to move.

Pain exploded through my body.

“Where am I?”

“Somewhere your enemies won’t find you.”

I stared at him.

“Who are you?”

He placed a black business card on the table.

A. BLACK INVESTMENTS.

Then he looked at me.

“You’ve lost everything, Adrian Vale.”

I closed my eyes.

Images flashed through my mind.

My father’s face.

Marcus refusing to look at me.

Sophia saying goodbye.

The black SUV.

The crash.

I opened my eyes again.

“How much money do you have?”

The stranger smiled.

“Enough to start over.”

I looked at the business card.

Then I looked toward the window.

Three years later, I would return to my city.

But I wouldn’t return as Adrian Vale.

I would return as the billionaire nobody knew existed.

And the first thing I would do…

Was take back everything they stole from me.
