Snow sat in the grand visitation hall of Elite High School, her fingers nervously tapping against the edge of the polished mahogany table.

The hall was reserved for parents who had come to visit their children at Elite High boarding school.

To Snow's surprise, the hall was filled with the wealthiest families in the country.

Around her, the other students were surrounded by their families, their tables occupied with lavish gifts and treats.

One girl’s parents had brought a limited-edition designer handbag that wasn’t even available in stores yet.

At another table, a boy was handed the keys to a brand-new sports car.

Snow’s eyes flicked to the piles of shopping bags, the gleaming jewelry, and the latest tech gadgets being passed around.

But Snow’s table was empty. No gifts, no family, no one. She wasn’t jealous—she had everything she could ever want.

All she wanted was just to see her brother.

She glanced at her watch for what felt like the hundredth time. Barry was late.

Joshua was the first person to react after Fredrick broke the devasting news. "B-But that’s impossible!" he sputtered. "They can’t seize your ships! They have no jurisdiction over our company!" Barry's expression didn’t change. "As a matter of fact, they do. You see, Sullivan Group controls major sectors of the world’s top businesses through loans. Your father owes Sullivan Bank $10 billion in total capital debt." Frederick’s jaws clenched. "But—but half of those debts were settled! We cleared a major tranche just three years ago." Barry’s voice turned razor-sharp. "That doesn’t change a thing. As long as your spoiled son keeps clinging to Iris like a parasite, that debt will keep increasing. With every second she stays by his side, your empire bleeds another million.." A terrible realization dawned in Frederick’s eyes. His lips parted slightly as he stared at Barry, his body trembling. There was only one man in the world with that kind of economic grip… only one man who cou

  • A financial plague

After Madam Beatrix tore up Leo's cheque, Joshua threw his head back and laughed with arrogance. "Look at you, Leo," he sneered, his grip tightening around Iris's wrist as she struggled against him. "You’re a sore loser. Always have been, always will be. You show up here with a worthless piece of paper, get humiliated, and now you think you can still win? Iris belongs to me now. And there’s nothing you can do about it." Iris cried out, tears streaming down her face as she fought to break free. "Leo! Please!" she begged, her voice breaking. "Don't let him take me away. I don't want him. Do something."But Joshua yanked her back, his fingers digging into her skin like claws. "You’re not going anywhere," he hissed into her ear. "Not while I’m still breathing."Leo’s fists clenched, his entire body trembling with rage. He turned to Madam Beatrix. "You greedy, heartless woman. Is this all Iris is to you? A bargaining chip? A means to get richer?" Beatrix smirked, her chin raised p

  • The cheque

Madam Beatrix’s expression shattered the moment Leo stormed into the hall. Her eyes widened in shock, her lips parting into a scowl. "What are you doing here?" she demanded, her voice rising like a whip cracking through the air. "You are not suppose to be here!" Leo didn’t flinch. His gaze were locked on Iris as he took another step forward. "I’m here to take my wife back." Beatrix scoffed, her fingers tightening around the edge of the table. "It’s too late for that. Iris belongs to the Zenith family now. She’s no longer yours." Before Leo could respond, Joshua moved swiftly, wrapping an arm possessively around Iris’s waist and pulling her close. "She’s mine now," Joshua declared, his tone smug and cold. "And there’s nothing you can do about it." Leo’s nostrils flared. "Let go of my wife," he growled, taking a step forward. "Or I swear—"Joshua laughed, cold and mocking. "Over my dead body." The tension in the room was thick, suffocating. Just then, Frederick Zenith cle

  • Beatrix's greed

Joshua paced restlessly near the banquet table, his fingers drumming impatiently against his thigh. His eyes kept darting toward the hallway where Iris was supposed to appear, but there was still no sign of her. The lavish feast meant nothing to him—his mind was fixed on one thing only. He turned to his father, his voice tight with irritation. "Father, how much longer must we wait? She’s taking too much time. I want to take my wife and leave." Frederick sighed, dabbing his lips with a napkin before responding."Why are you in such a haste, Joshua?" he asked quietly, not wanting to draw the attention of their hosts. "Iris is already yours. The arrangement is made. A few more minutes won’t change that." Joshua’s jaw clenched. "It may seem that way, but I don’t like this delay. Something just doesn’t feel right. I have a bad feeling. I want her out of here now—before anything goes wrong."Frederick rubbed the back of his neck, exhaling heavily. "Joshua..." he began carefully, "I

  • The Zenith family

The next day, Madam Beatrix stood at the entrance of the Keith family mansion, her sharp eyes scanning the horizon. Behind her, the Keith family waited in tense silence, dressed in tailored suits and elegant dresses. The estate had been polished to perfection—lush green lawns trimmed to the inch, marbled pathways scrubbed spotless, and uniformed servants standing at attention. Then, they appeared—a fleet of black luxury cars rolling up the grand driveway. The Zenith family had arrived. The lead car—a custom-built Maybach—came to a smooth stop, and a chauffeur hurried to open the door. First came Frederick Zenith, tall and imposing in a black three-piece suit, his salt-and-pepper hair slicked back, his gaze sharp.Behind him, Joshua Zenith emerged, his face wrinkled in impatience, his gaze scanning around restlessly. Madam Beatrix stepped forward, her practiced smile filled with warmth and welcome."Frederick, Joshua," she greeted. "What an honor it is to host you in our home."

  • The coffee meeting

Leo pulled out his phone with trembling hands, staring at the embossed business card Barry had given him. The weight of the moment pressed down on him, his breath shallow as he turned the card between his fingers. The name Barry Sullivan gleamed under the dim light of the streetlights. After a deep breath, he dialed the number. The line rang once, then twice. Barry answered on the second ring, his voice smooth and composed, as if he had been expecting this call all along. "Leo," he said, the faintest hint of amusement in his tone. "I was wondering if you'd call." Leo's grip on the phone tightened. There was no warmth in Barry's voice, no brotherly affection—just the cool detachment of a man used to controlling every situation. It made Leo's skin prickle with unease. "We need to talk," Leo said, his voice tight, barely holding back the storm of emotions swirling inside him. "Now." There was a pause on the other end, deliberate and calculated. Then, Barry responded, h
