“Well, I was going to do it anyways.” Adrian muttered softly before he took out his phone from his pocket. It had a cracked screen that still worked.

He went through the universities available near his city and checked their tuition fees along with the minimum grades required.

The filtering process was easy and he found a few universities that did not have much requirement for grades. As long as one had enough money or took the required loans, they could get into them.

“Hmm I guess I’ll go with one of these two since they’re the closest.” he muttered as he closed his phone and walked out of his room.

As he walked down the stairs, he could hear the whole family talking in hushed voices but he didn’t bother going in there and poking his nose.

Instead, he silently walked out of the house and headed straight to a cozy diner nearby. On his way, he clicked on his screen when no one was watching, on his system’s name.

As soon as he did, a new window popped out.

[Money Multiplier System: At midnight, all the money you’ve spent during the past 24 hours will be doubled.]

Rules:

1) Only the money that is “spent” will be doubled.

2) Money given to someone for nothing in return will be considered as a donation and it will not be counted as a “spend”

3) Borrowed money, loans and credit will not be counted towards the multiplication.

4) Money Spent on Gambling is Invalid.

5) Refunded Money will not be counted towards multiplication.

6) Only Valid purchases will be considered.

7) System Shop Purchases are special and the money spent in it will not be considered for multiplication.

“That’s a lot of rules but it doesn’t really push back my plans much. It’s not like I was planning on gambling anyways.” he muttered as he read through the rules.

“Basically, I have to buy something to get the money multiplied. Understood.”

With a new understanding of his abilities, he looks at the diner in front of him. It had a nice vibe with soft music playing inside.

It was a place his mother always used to take him during his childhood, a place that he loved until the end of his past life.

“If I remember right, Uncle Franco is out on a vacation so his son is taking care of the business right now.” he said softly and shook his head.

The restaurant’s owner’s son was a good for nothing man who only cared about women. The month’s business was surely going to be in a downwards trend.

Still, Adrian walked in as he just couldn’t say no to nostalgia.

Once he sat down on a table, a waitress walked over and looked him up and down. The look of judgement was hard to hide so Adrian couldn’t help but look at himself.

He was wearing a stretched out sweater that had multiple square patches on areas where it had holes in the past.

As someone who barely got any money to buy things for himself, he had to make do with the things he already owned.

‘Right.. I forgot about my appearance.’ he thought and sighed softly before looking up at the waitress who was waiting for his order.

“I’ll take a small cake along with some mac and cheese. I’d like some extra cheese on mine. I’ll also take a glass of blueberry lemonade.”

The waitress nodded and was just about to leave when she suddenly frowned, “I don’t mean to be rude but this whole thing will cost you twenty dollars.”

“I know. I’m a regular.” Adrian said with a smile, to which the waitress immediately straightened her back in response before she headed over to the kitchen.

A few minutes later, he saw her bring out his mac and cheese along with the cake while the owner’s son walked behind her with a large glass of blueberry lemonade.

Just as they were on their way to his table, Adrian saw a guy walk into the store and behind him was a girl he recognised.

“Sofia…” he muttered softly as he watched them grab a table on the other side of the restaurant. The girl sat with her back to him.

Sofia was a girl whom he had a crush on since the age of fourteen and in his past life, she had suddenly ghosted him almost a month from his eighteenth birthday.

She was someone who led him on, made him buy her art supplies for four years and talked sweet, making him fall for her even harder. Only to ghost him at the end.

‘I’m not going to waste my time on her. Not in this life.’ he thought as he smiled at the waitress when she put his food on the table.

He put the candle into his small cake and lit it up before closing his eyes.

“Mom… life has been hard ever since you left me. I would have suffered for twenty more years but it looks like I got another chance. I’ll turn my life around and I’ll make you proud so keep looking at me from above. I miss you, mom.”

He then opened his eyes and wiped off the slight wetness pooling up in his eyes before he blew the candle and ate his food.

Thirty minutes later, he walked out of the restaurant and headed into a convenience store where he spent the remaining of his thirty dollars on a data plan.

‘Time to wait for midnight now.’

The Director of Admissions’ office looked exactly like what Adrian expected from a man who sold futures for a living.Polished wooden desk, shelves lined with leather-bound books nobody had read in years, a framed photo of a smiling family on a beach, and floor-to-ceiling windows that showed off the Urizona campus like a real estate brochure.Behind the desk, a middle-aged man in a navy suit flipped through a file with a bored expression on his face.Nameplate: Dr. Maxwell Sterling.Adrian knocked once.“Come in,” Sterling said without looking up.Adrian pushed the door open and stepped inside, closing it behind him. He didn’t lock it. He just let it click shut and made his way toward the desk with calm, steady steps.Sterling finally lifted his head.He took one look at Adrian’s worn jeans, basic sneakers and simple shirt—and his eyes screamed _waste of time_ even before his mouth opened.“Yes?” Sterling asked, voice polite but already dismissing him.“I’m here about an admission to

“Just a little worried since you’re acting a bit different from when we first met. Though, if you don’t mind.. can I ask you something?” Adrian asked.Letty shrugged, “Go on. Don’t ask me out though, we’re not that close yet.”Adrian gave her a sideways glance before speaking, “My gpa is 2.0 and I looked at multiple universities but I can’t really find anything good. Do you have any recommendations for one that accepts anyone as long as they pay?”“Well, there’s the University of Urizona. The prices range but for most courses, it’s 40,000 to 50,000 a year.”“That’s pretty close to where I live…” Adrian muttered as he thought about it and after a while, he hesitated slightly.Letty noticed this and chuckled, “Just ask, I won’t judge.”“Well, is there a way I can not pay taxes after paying my fees? I don’t wanna get involved in taxes while I’m studying.”“You don’t pay taxes when you pay for your education.” she said and frowned slightly as she looked at him, “Just tell me what’s on you

  • The Chauffeur

Adrian walked out of the supermarket with 6 packs of cards and 6 cans of caviar. He tossed them all in his car and spent his last remaining 50 dollars on his supper before he went straight back to the supermarket.Inside the car, he grabbed the card packs and decided to move on to the second step of his experiment.Buying the card packs was essentially a gamble but it was also a collection item. Which meant that it wasn’t all just gambling and he wanted to see what his system would categorise it as.Out of the six packs, he opened four and kept two unopened before waiting for the clock to hit 12.Money Spent: 2010 DollarsDing! Will I have the money deducted?” he said out loud as he picked up the two unopened packs.Without any hesitation, he ripped them open and tossed the cards to the side before looking u

  • Problem At The Hotel

Adrian woke up the next morning and yawned as he stared at the ceiling.“Two Thousand Dollars in cash…” he muttered as he felt the stack of bills under his pillow. He had saved up money in the past but he only saw numbers back then due to him saving all his money in the bank. The difference of seeing mere numbers and having a thick wad of cash was like a difference of night and day. He finally felt like he was rich, which made him smile slightly.“Who said money doesn’t bring you happiness?” he asked as he looked at his own reflection in the mirror. He was tall, standing at six foot four inches, which was approximately 193 centimeters. His slightly long unkempt hair was long and healthy even though it looked slightly messy. The five day old stubble was hard to not notice as he was gifted with some good genetics.Broad shoulders, thin waist and overall, a face that was a mix of both cuteness and handsomeness. But even with all this, he had barely gotten himself a girlfriend in his past
