David felt all the joints of his body freeze instantly. His hands trembled violently as he read page after page of the documents presented by Richard Coleman. His eyes moved rapidly, scanning the lines of sentences from one page to the next, then returning to the first page as if hoping all the writing was merely a manifestation of a nightmare.
However, reality refused to compromise. Every signature on the stamped paper, every official seal of the district court, down to the entirety of those absolute acquisition files—all of them were valid. David's face slowly lost its color, leaving behind pale skin wet with cold sweat.
"No... this can't be happening..." David muttered in a hoarse voice that was nearly gone.
Richard adjusted his gold glasses with a casual, graceful movement. "Five minutes ago, the ownership of this restaurant officially changed hands under Manhattan law." Richard's voice sounded incredibly calm, yet it was precisely that calmness that made the atmosphere inside the room feel increasingly suffocating. "You are no longer the manager of this restaurant, David. You are fired."
That short sentence hit David's consciousness squarely like the strike of an iron mace. "I have devoted myself and worked here for seven years!" David shouted in panic, trying to beg for mercy.
"I know," Richard replied while closing his document folder with a slow, firm tap. "And during those seven years as well, you have been proven to abuse your position, conduct systematic discrimination against your subordinate staff, and allow certain customers to treat the employees here like corporate slaves." Richard glanced briefly toward Chloe, who was still frozen in the marble corner. "Our new owner absolutely despises such low things."
A moment later, the glass doors were pushed wide open. Several heavily-built men in dark suits stepped inside soundlessly. Their movements appeared trained—cold, efficient, and direct. Without needing to be commanded twice, they immediately broke formation and firmly grabbed both of David's arms.
"Wait! I can explain everything! Let me go!" David struggled, but the grip of that living concrete barrier was too strong. The plump man was forcibly dragged out of the restaurant in front of all the customers, who watched with disgusted expressions. Not a single person spoke up to defend him. Everyone in the room knew that today, David's career had come to a lethal end.
Amber Miller, who had been standing as stiff as a statue until now, finally snapped out of her shock. "What on earth is this?!" her voice shrilled high, full of hysteria. "Have you all gone mad?!"
Amber stepped forward, pointing at Richard's face with her index finger, which trembled from overflowing rage. "Do you know who I am, huh?! I am the fiancée of the Vance family!"
Richard looked at her with a flat gaze, completely unintimidated by the threat. "Of course I know."
"Then get your people out of here right now!"
Instead, Richard displayed a thin smile laden with legal sarcasm. "The question is... which Vance family fiancée? The fiancée of the late Julian Vance? The fiancée of Ryan Vance? Or whose fiancée do you plan to become next week?"
Pfft.
Several customers at the VIP tables spontaneously stifled laughs upon hearing that direct mockery. Amber's face instantly flushed crimson, burning with extraordinary shame. "You—!"
"In addition," Richard cut in, without giving Amber any opportunity to hurl insults. "Our new owner also left a specific line of message for you, Ms. Miller."

The thick mahogany wood door was locked tightly from the inside. The moment the door locked, Ryan could no longer hold back his satisfied laughter. He threw his body roughly onto the leather chair. "Think about it logically, Ryan. Julian is indeed smart in business, but he has never possessed this kind of cyber capability. It means our guess was right... all of these financial attacks are purely the rogue actions of Lawyer Edward Harris operating alone using Julian's name!"Am

"I don't want to," Julian rejected flatly, his body stiffening. He immediately tugged at Chloe’s sleeve. "I don't want to be examined unless Chloe comes inside with me."Amber, who had been holding back her annoyance in the rear, suddenly clicked her tongue harshly. "Julian! You are the heir to the Vance family! Why on earth are you dragging that lower-district woman along, even into the medical room?!"Julian spun his body, staring at Amber with a cold, flat gaze entirely devoid of any spark of recognition. "Who are you? Why have you been shouting at me ever since we were at the diner?"Slap!Julian's innocent question felt like an invisible slap landing square on Amber's face right in front of the servants. Amber's face instantly flushed crimson with embarrassment. "I-I... I am your fiancée!"Julian ignored her and stubbornly looked back at Arthur. Arthur, not wanting to ruin this precious moment, immediately shot Amber a sharp glare. "Amber, enough! Chloe, please accompany Julian i

Her hands hung stiffly in mid-air, creating a tense, awkward silence in the outer courtyard.Julian peeked from behind Chloe’s shoulder with a gaze filled with deep wariness and glaring discomfort. Ryan’s smile widened instantly. He nodded quickly, even letting out a soft chuckle as if deeply relieved. "That's right, Brother. I'm Ryan. The two of us... we have been very close all this time."Very close indeed, Julian thought coldly, while his facial mask maintained its empty vacancy.“So close that you slept with my fiancée, burned my body, and now I will make sure you see for yourself what it feels like to lose your entire world.”Julian lowered his gaze, staring at the floor of the car. "I don’t remember.""It’s alright, Brother." Ryan patted Julian’s knee casually. "We have plenty of time to recover everything."Julian did not answer. He just remained quiet, letting the car drive on.
