Chapter Six

James Parker arrived at the bank, sweats covered his body. Definitely, he ran his way here to the bank, his worried expression was still on his face. 

He ran hastily to the clerk available at the front desk, “Good morning, Miss! I'm here for an….” 

He hadn't been able to complete his words before he got interrupted by the clerk. 

Without taking a glance at him, the Clerk shouted angrily at him. “Hey man, how can you be so rude and impolite? You should join the queue if you need to be attended.”

James glanced at the long queue he hadn't noticed when he got into the bank due to his anxiousness.  He could see some people glancing at him in disdain and contempt.

He smiled lightly and mumbled gently to the clerk… “Oh sorry, thank you!!” With that, he joined the long queue. 

He waited patiently for his turn and fortunately, it arrived. He mumbled softly, “Good Morning, I would like to apply for a loan, Miss!” 

The Clerk brought a paper, and dumped it on the table, and responded impatiently, “Fill and input your information into the application, and get it back to me!” Her voice was laced with rudeness but James doesn't care about care. 

He picked up the paper and input his information. He wrote the amount he would like to lend, and also wrote he still works for the Sky Corporation, his company, so that the bank could approve his loan and hand it over to the clerk. 

The Clerk took the application and frowned deeply. She looked up to the young man in front of him for the first time, stared at him carefully, and sneered disparagingly.

Instantly, she threw the application back at the young man, James. 

James, on the other hand, not knowing what was going on, looked confused and then questioned the clerk. 

“What's going on? You should be processing the application, why would you throw them at me?” He demanded, an angry expression bestowed upon his face. 

The Clerk sneered disdainfully, “You really want to know what is going on?” She asked, then claimed, “My Sister worked for the Sky Corporation, the same company you worked for. 

Few minutes ago, she informed us about what was going on in Sky Corporation. She shared you are fired because of your sexual assault!” Her brows were flapping steadily, glaring at him dangerously. 

“Am I not right, Mr Rapist?” She demanded. 

James's face was covered with embarrassment, he had been facing a lot of derogatory remarks but none was more painful than the word ‘Rapist’.

James felt so awkward and he was starting to feel the heat, he never thought it would be such a coincidence, and he didn’t imagine that his company would announce his fire to the public. 

He wondered why they had done that! He was completely dumbfounded, and couldn't say anything. He was staring at the Clerk in front of him with so much shame. 

He glanced at the people in the bank, and prayed that they haven't heard what the lady had said about him just now but he's quite wrong. 

Everyone at the bank looked at James with weird eyes. Some of them were glancing at him menacingly while others felt pity for him even not knowing what had happened to him. 

The Clerk cleared his throat and announced, “I'm sorry, young man! Our Bank can't ever give out a loan offer to a sexual assault criminal! The best place for you to be right now, is in the prison! You belong to the prison…young man!” She claimed, her voice echoing across the bank. 

James looked very annoyed, he couldn't tolerate her attitude, and shouted back at her. “You shouldn't judge people without knowing or hearing their stories! You don't know what happened to me, you didn't know the truth, and here you are, trashing my decency with all sorts of names.” By the time he was done, James was breathing heavily and gasping for breath. 

The Clerk was angered by his sudden outburst, and shouted furiously at the young man. 

“How dare you challenge me? Are you trying to deny the truth? Are you claiming the company is lying against you, rapist?” Her face contorted with rage and fury, “Get your shitty self out of the place, or else I am going to call the police!” 

James felt awkward, he was speechless and gave a final look at the people and the Clerk before walking out of the bank in total embarrassment and shame. 

Everyone clapped their hands in satisfaction. They were impressed by how the Clerk had handled the matter. They were elated that the loan offer wasn't given to the young man. 

The Clerk smiled appreciatively at the customer and everything continued after that. 

The moment he walked out of the bank, James's phone rang out of his pocket, he took it out and noticed it was from the hospital. 

“I'm really looking for the money…..” he tried to say that he would pay the bill, but the doctor interrupted him instantly.

“Mr James Parker, your sister has fallen into a deep condition and it's quite urgent. We need you at the hospital at the moment, and sign some documents. Your sister needs to undergo a surgery!” The Doctor announced and James jumped in fright and his heart began to beat erratically.
