"What the hell have you done!!"

Alex continued to scream at the top of his voice as the security held him down. His arms were locked behind him and he was struggling with everything he had.

"You monster, you will never get away with this!!" he kept screaming. The few people still left around the grave exchanged glances and walked away, leaving him to his misery.

"You won't get away with this. I promise!!"

His voice cracked. His suit was stained and wet from the grass. His eyes were red.

Victoria ignored him totally. She shook hands with the so-called Mr. Riggs like they had just closed a business deal. Then she finally turned to look at Alex.

She smacked her lips and rolled her eyes like she was exhausted by his presence.

"Let him go," she said, flicking her hand.

The security let go of him.

Alex's body jolted forward and he rushed toward her to attack. He stopped at the last second. His hands were in the air. Then he balled them into fists. His whole body was shaking with agony.

"...Why did you, why did you do it!" he asked through gritted teeth. His breathing was heavy and broken.

Victoria tilted her head in question.

"Did what?" she asked. "What did I do?"

She feigned ignorance perfectly.

"What did you do to George! What happened to my father's old lawyers! Why the fuck did you fabricate the will!!" Alex snapped. Tears were already burning the corners of his eyes. "Why the fuck did you bury my father without my presence!!"

Victoria rolled her eyes and turned to face him properly.

"I only have answer to one question, Alex," she said, pausing and staring at him intensely. Her face was blank, and cold.

"I buried your father without you because you were nowhere to be found. And we had to continue since his other kids were here."

"Other kids?" Alex asked. His chest tightened. He couldn't remember Kane having other children besides him.

And almost immediately, Elena and Marcus, his step-siblings, stepped out from behind Victoria.

Elena was still in her beautiful red dress, her hair perfect, her makeup untouched. Marcus stood beside her in his fitted, tailored black suit, hands in his pockets, face unreadable.

"This rat again!?" Elena was the first to speak. Her face curled in disgust. Marcus stayed quiet, but his face was filled with fury.

Alex couldn't believe it.

Is this the so-called kids of Kane?

The two brats who never cared or respected him since they first stepped foot in this house. And even worse, they were not even related to him by blood. They were products of Victoria's older marriage. They had no right to stand by his father's grave and call themselves his children.

"Who the fuck are you calling a rat?" Alex asked, his fist balled so tight his nails dug into his palm.

Elena was enjoying this. She walked toward him slowly, her heels clicking against the stone path. She poked him in the chest. Once, then again again.

"You, Alex. You are the rat," she said, voice low and venomous. "You are the loser who would never make anything reasonable with your life. Nothing but misery. And neither would anyone want to be in your company!" She poked him again, harder this time.

Alex felt his blood boil. And not just boil. He was breaking inside, piece by piece.

In just 24 hours, so many things had changed. His world had flipped.

"Why did you fabricate the will, Victoria!?" he fired, small streams of tears finally falling from his eyes. He couldn't hold them back anymore. "Why did you do it?"

Victoria stepped forward, pulling her daughter gently behind her like Alex was a threat.

"If you have questions about the will, Alex," she said calmly, "then hire a lawyer and see me in court with evidence."

Alex couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"What are you talking about?" he asked. His voice was shaking.

"I'm saying I will not and will never tolerate any form of insult from you," Victoria said. Her voice was still calm, but there was ice in it. "Because for the disgrace you showed today, you will pay dearly for it, Alex."

Alex shook his head slowly. "No... no... no, you're the one who will pay for it, Victoria. Because you fabricated everything. You stole from me. You twisted everything and made it yours when it was not even yours to begin with!!"

"Where's your fucking evidence, dude?" Marcus finally cut in. He stared coldly at Alex.

"What do you mean by it was fabricated?" He stepped closer until he was right in Alex's face. Close enough that Alex could see the anger in his eyes. He stepped hard on Alex's foot, pressing down until Alex winced in pain.

Marcus leaned closer, his voice now a whisper only Alex could hear.

"That's not how it works, boy. You think being his dutiful, overly worked up son will do any good? You thought everything was going to be yours?" He pressed down harder on his foot. "You've stayed behind and you're gonna be left behind."

He moved away from his ear, a small, cruel smile on his lips.

"You all will pay for this!" Alex said, breathing heavily in pain. His foot throbbed, his eyes still wet.

But they weren't paying attention anymore.

"When you're done throwing tantrums, leave," Victoria said, turning her back to him. "And never come back."

The words landed like a slap.

Alex stood there in front of the fresh grave. The dirt still loose, and the air still smelling like rain and flowers.

Victoria walked away firs, her r heels were steady, making her back straight, like she owned the place.

Elena followed, giving Alex a final disgusted look. While Marcus bumped his shoulder hard as he walked past him.

The security stood behind him, waiting for him to make one more mistake.

And just like that, Alex was alone again.

Alone with a grave that had no nameplate yet. Alone with a will that gave everything to a woman who didn’t deserve it. Alone with a promise he had made to a crying wife and two scared kids.

George was gone, his father too is gone. The house, the empire, the company. Everything was gone.

Alex dropped to his knees. His hands hit the wet grass, as he stared at the grave.

"Dad," he whispered. His voice broke completely. "What happened to you? What did they do to you?" He screamed in agony, as more tears spilled out. He remain in that position for a long time, before he finally stand's up.

"You think you've won," Alex muttered under his breath. His fists clenched.

"You think this is over."

He took one last look at his father's grave.

"I will find George. I will find out how you died. And I will take everything back."

He turned and walked away from the grave. Each step was heavy, but steady.

He didn’t look back.

  • CHAPTER THIRTY -FOUR: UNDER THE ABANDONED BRIDGE.

ONE HOUR LATERThe forest had gone quiet in a way that felt almost unnatural. Alex knelt beside the black SUV, his fingers working through the ammunition he had laid out across the hood. Karina kicked the front tire. The thud echoed through the clearing, flat, and she turned to face him with her hands on her hips."I think we have a flat tire."Alex looked up from his work, his eyes moving from her face to the sagging rubber. He let out a slow breath through his nose."We definitely can't wait to fix a tire. A mechanic might be a hunter." He set down the magazine he had been loading. "Do you have a spare? Let's fix it here."She shook her head, a single sharp motion. "No spare. I used it two games ago and never replaced it."The words hung between them for a moment, and Alex felt the weight of their situation settle deeper into his shoulders. They had survived four hunters, and found a moment of peace in the woods that had felt almost like a gift. And now, a flat tire. It was almost

Giff stood at the center of the tech room filled with twenty tech skill pro's working endlessly. His fingers tapping a restless rhythm against his thigh, his eyes fixed on the massive monitor that dominated the far wall. It displayed a grainy satellite image of the dense forest on the outskirts of Berlin, blinking markers scattered across the terrain like a game board waiting for its next move.He clicked his fingers. The sound was sharp, satisfied, the kind of sound a man makes when a gamble is paying off beyond his wildest expectations. A smile tugged at the corners of his mouth, and he let it spread. He had earned this moment."Beautiful," he murmured to no one in particular. The door at the far end of the room opened, and Eleanor stepped through. Her heels clicked against the floor with the authority of someone who had never needed to ask permission for anything in her life. She carried a tablet in one hand, its screen glowing with data Giff couldn't see from where he stood."G

  • CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO: AFTERMATHS

Alex propped Karina against the broad trunk of an oak tree, her injured arm cradled against her chest, the bandage he had wrapped around it already darkening at the edges with fresh blood. She was pale, her lips pressed into a thin line, but her eyes were sharp and watchful, tracking every movement he made as he knelt beside her.“You’re staring,” she said, her voice carrying that familiar edge of mockery despite the pain threading through it.“I’m checking the wound.” He didn’t look up, his fingers working the knot on the bandage, tightening it just enough to slow the bleeding without cutting off circulation. “There’s a difference.”“Is there?”He finished the knot and sat back on his heels, finally meeting her gaze. The smirk on her face was weak, barely holding, but it was there, and something in his chest loosened at the sight of it. If she was still capable of being difficult, she wasn’t dying. Not yet.“We need to move soon,” he said, his voice low. “They’ll regroup. They’ll co

KANE CREES VILLAThe orange lambogini had barely rolled to a stop before Victoria was out of it, her heels hitting the gravel driveway, with sharp click's. She didn't wait for the driver to circle around and open her door—didn't have the patience for that formality, not today, not with the news burning a hole in her chest like acid eating through fabric. Her heels struck the marble floor of the foyer with rapid, furious clicks, and she muttered something under her breath—a string of German curses that would have made a dockworker blush. One of her maids, a young woman with tired eyes and a nervous smile, stepped forward with her hand outstretched."Willkommen, gnädige Frau." the maid said in careful German, reaching for Victoria's bag.The slap came before the maid could finish the word. Victoria's palm connected with the woman's cheek with a sound like a firecracker, and the maid stumbled backward, one hand pressed to her reddening face, her eyes wide with shock and hurt."Narren," V

Alex body lurched sideways, the seatbelt catching him hard across the chest, and for one stomach-dropping moment the vehicle felt like it was about to roll. Then the suspension settled, the engine roared, and they were flying straight again."Be careful!" Alex gripped the door handle, his knuckles white, his other hand fumbling with the laces of his running shoes.Karina scoffed, not even glancing at him. "It's a German car, not a Chinese one." She punched the accelerator and the engine answered with a deep, throaty growl that pushed him back into his seat. The city thinned around them—buildings giving way to trees, streetlights replaced by the gray filter of cloud-covered sky through bare branches.Alex finished buckling his shoes and his eyes found the duffel bag slumped in the corner of the back seat. He dragged it toward him, unzipped it, and began pulling out pieces. "So where the fuck are we going, w

"You look like hell, Rage." Karina's voice cut through the ringing in his ears, and the corner of her mouth twitched upward into something that was almost a smile but not quite. "Lucky for you, I happen to specialize in putting broken things back together."She beamed softly from the far end of the stairwell, the long-range rifle still cradled in one hand, smoke threading upward from its barrel in a thin gray ribbon that caught the dim light filtering down from the rooftop door. She looked like a predator who had wandered into the wrong story and decided to stay anyway."Karina?" Alex muttered, his head swimming, the blood loss and exhaustion finally catching up to him in a wave that made the stairwell tilt and blur at the edges. His vision was narrowing to a tunnel, dark creeping in from the periphery, and the last thing he saw before his eyes closed was a shadow running toward him. Then nothing.---THIRTY MINUTES LATERConsciousness returned in fragments, like pieces of a broken m
