The next day, Alejandro was ready for his interview. He was dressed neatly in one of Miguel's clothes.
He arrived on time at the big company building, feeling excited about the opportunity.
When he approached the receptionist, she gave him a sensual look.
But he overlooked her. "I'm here for my interview," he said politely, offering a small smile.
The receptionist hesitated but eventually allowed him inside. He waited for a while before being called in by another employee.
“Good morning, sir.” Alejandro greeted the interviewer as he entered the room.
"Good morning. Please take a seat," the interviewer said and Alejandro sat down.
Just then, Charlotte walked into the office, "Charles, is this your choice for the job? Big mistake," she said, addressing the interviewer.
"Do you know each other, Charlotte?" Charles asked.
"Yes, he's not suitable for the interview," Charlotte declared.
"But I..." Alejandro attempted to speak.
"Shut up. Get out now," Charlotte snapped at him.
"Please, sir..." Alejandro turned to Charles and pleaded, but Charles cut him off.
"You heard her. Get out!”
After leaving the office, he kept going. He spent the whole morning searching for a job all over the city, but he didn't find any.
By evening, he decided to check out the local area of the city for any job openings. Even if the pay was low, he hoped his qualifications would help him get employed.
Just at the end of the day, he walked into a restaurant, a local one and saw they needed a waiter. He decided to try his luck.
"Hey, do you need a waiter?" Alejandro asked the restaurant manager.
The manager looked him up and down, noticing how well-dressed he was. He didn't think someone from the city would be looking for a job at their local restaurant.
"No, sorry. The job we have isn't really for someone like you," the manager replied.
"But I can do it," Alejandro insisted. "I really need the money. Even if you pay me less than half of what you pay the other waiters, I'll work hard," Alejandro begged.
The manager smirked his lips when he said that.
Seeing that Alejandro is ready to accept less than half payment, he decided to employ him. "Alright, I'll give you a chance, but you better work hard," the manager agreed.
"Thank you so much!" Alejandro exclaimed.
"So when do you want to start?" the manager asked.
"Right now, I'm ready," Alejandro replied eagerly.
His plan was to save enough money to buy Sophia an expensive ring to apologize for what happened between them.
That evening, he began working.
Unknown to him, Charlotte had been secretly following him all day, and is hell bent on making his life a living nightmare until he accepts her.
She entered the restaurant with her friends and went straight to the manager.
"Are you the manager?" Charlotte asked him.
"Yes, please, what do you want?" he responded.
She gave him her orders and said, "I want to be served by that gentleman over there," pointing at Alejandro.
Seeing that they are wealthy customers, and wealthy customers rarely come to his restaurant, he decided to treat them like Gods.
"Alejandro, take four white wine bottles to table 16!" the manager instructed, handing him the order slip.
Alejandro hurried to fulfill the request, but when he saw who was at the table, he felt a pang of discomfort.
"Oh, look who's here! Working as a waiter now?" Charlotte's voice dripped with sarcasm, mocking him as he placed the bottles on the table.
He gritted his teeth but remained composed. "Anything else I can get for you?" he asked, trying to maintain his professionalism.
"Yes, we'll have five plates of your priciest dish with extra fish and dipping sauce," Charlotte replied with a smirk, knowing full well the trouble she was causing him.
Alejandro returned with their order a few minutes later, and Charlotte tipped him generously before calling him back.
"Where have you been? Are you okay? And what about your wife?" she inquired, but Alejandro brushed off her concern.
"That's none of your business," he retorted before attending to other customers.
Few minutes later, there was commotion in the restaurant. Alejandro was on his break trying to count how much he had earned in tips until he heard the noise inside.
"I'll sue this place and ruin your business for doing this to me!" Charlotte shouted at the manager, her face flushed and struggling to breathe.
“What's the matter, ma’am?” the manager asked her.
“One of your waiters tried to poison me by putting walnuts in food.” Charlotte lied.
"Please calm down, we'll take care of the situation," the manager tried to defuse the situation. “Do you recognize the waiter?”
“Yes I do.” Charlotte said.
Just then, Alejandro peeped and noticed the noise was at table 16. He decided to go check what was going on.
"He's the one! Get him out!" Charlotte pointed a finger at Alejandro, “He deliberately put the walnuts in my dish.
“That's a lie!” Alejandro said. “I didn't do that.”
"Are you saying my friend is lying? You cheap wannabe Leonard DiCaprio!" one of Charlotte's friends yelled at him.
Everyone laughed when she said that.
Alejandro was speechless. People often said he looked like Leonardo DiCaprio but now Charlotte's friend is calling him a cheap wannabe Leonard DiCaprio.
“But I didn't know she had an allergy! And there were no walnuts in her dish!" Alejandro defended himself, but his words fell on deaf ears.
"I don't want him here," Charlotte told the manager. Her voice was menacing.
“So you're a psychopath who came to ruin business for me? I thought as much because how will a well dressed and qualified man accept less than half payment as a waiter.” the manager shouted at him. "You're evil and for that I'll call the police on you.”
He picked up his phone and dialed the police line.
Alejandro knew there was no point in arguing. He left before the police arrived.
Outside, as he walked in the cold, Charlotte and her friends drove by.
"Is someone sad? You look so adorable when you're sad," she taunted him.
But Alejandro wasn't going to tolerate it any longer, "Stay away from me. This is your last warning before I do something I'll regret," he warned sternly.
However, Charlotte find his anger amusing, "I can make everything better for you. Leave your wife, and I will give you anything you want," she proposed.
"That would never happen, not now, or in a million years," Alejandro firmly rejected her offer.

Chapter 34In the dark hallway, Valentina pressed her back against the cold stone wall, her heart pounding in her chest. The deep silence of the mansion surrounded her, broken only by the muffled sounds of the conversation coming from Diego’s study. She had been in the bedroom when the men entered, and unable to resist, she had tiptoed silently to the door to listen in.Though she hadn’t heard much of the conversation—her position had been precarious and the voices low—the part that had caught her off guard made her blood run cold. Javier had suggested hiring the best hackers in the world to break into Alejandro’s casino since the fire attack wasn’t successful, and Valentina’s mind had skipped at the thought. She didn’t know Alejandro personally, but from the little she’d gathered, he seemed like a young, innocent man who luckily won her husband’s scam lottery.Yet here was Diego, her husband, plotting to destroy him piece by piece. Chapter 33The night was cloaked in a veil of restless clouds, the soft hum of distant crickets the only sound outside Diego’s sprawling mansion. Inside, the warm glow of chandeliers illuminated a room thick with tension. The mahogany table in Diego’s private study bore marks of age and power, much like the man who sat at its head. The thick smell of cigars mingled with the faint tang of spilled whiskey, curling through the opulent study like a specter of power. A half-empty wine bottle stood forgotten on the table, next to a silver tray dusted with the remnants of cocaine. The grand chandelier above cast flickering light, illuminating the tension etched into every corner of the room.Diego lounged in his leather armchair, a cigarette smoldering between his fingers. His dark eyes, sharp as a hawk’s, bore into the men seated before him. On the table, a glass of Malbec swirled lazily in his other hand, the deep red liquid glinting in the light. He didn’t need to speak; the silence was s

James, the butler, shuffled to the entrance, opening the door to reveal two women—Amy Johnson and Judy Miller.Amy wore a simple floral dress that flattered her petite frame, while Judy was dressed in bold designer clothing, her oversized sunglasses perched arrogantly on her head.“Welcome, ladies,” Mr. James said with a polite nod, stepping aside to let them in.Amy gasped, her eyes widening as she took in the grandeur of the mansion's new interior that Sophia had had made. “Oh my gosh, Judy, look at this place! It’s like something out of a movie!” she whispered excitedly.Judy rolled her eyes, stepping inside with a smirk. “Calm down, Amy. It’s not like you’re moving in. Chapter 31He left the gym and headed straight for Theo’s office. Pushing open the door, he found Theo reviewing the updated security plans.“Got a minute?” Miguel asked, shutting the door behind him.“Sure,” Theo said, leaning back in his chair. “What’s up?”Miguel crossed his arms, pacing slightly. “It’s about Sophia and that so-called gym instructor of hers, Oscar.”Theo raised an eyebrow. “What about them?”“I just saw them in the gym. The way they were interacting—too close, too familiar. He told her he missed her after the ‘kidnapping.’ It’s odd, Theo. He’s supposed to be her trainer, not her confidant.”Theo frowned. “You think there’s something going on between them?”Miguel stopped pacing, his expression serious. “I don’t just think it—I know it. And we need to keep a closer eye on them. There’s something about Oscar that doesn’t add up. He’s disrespectful to staff, acts entitled, and now he’s cozying up to Sophia.”Theo nodded thoughtfully. “Do you want me to escalate this?

Chapter 30The next day was a Sunday. It was a bright morning, and the mansion grounds were bustling with activity. The new gardener was trimming hedges, while a few maids hurried about their chores. At the gate, Martin, the elderly gateman, was performing his usual duties, meticulously inspecting everyone entering and leaving.A sleek, black car pulled up at the gate, and Oscar stepped out. Dressed in an expensive tracksuit and sunglasses, he looked around with a smug expression. He gestured impatiently at Martin, his tone sharp.“Hurry up, old man! Do you want me to stand here all day?” Oscar snapped, leaning against the car. “Open the gate already!”Martin, used to dealing with difficult people, remained calm but couldn’t hide the slight frown forming on his face. “I’m just doing my job, sir. Could you please confirm your identity?”Oscar scoffed, pulling off his sunglasses. “I’m Sophia’s gym instructor. She’s expecting me. Now stop wasting my time and open the gate!”Martin nodded
