“Kneel!”
His voice crashed through the broken jade pillars like thunder splitting stone. Emperor Rong Zhen stood above them, his eyes were filled with disdain. That was the gaze of a man who saw them all as nothing but irritating beasts beneath his feet. Beside him, his daughter sat upon one of the throne chairs, Kaien could see a trace of disgust curling on her lips. They made eye contact for a brief second, he could see her mocking smile clearly. Then she looked elsewhere like he wasn’t worth more than another minute glance. Kaien stood among the corpses of his kin, the throne of Spirits now stained red. His father, Emperor Li Fengxian of the Yuehua Dynasty was on his knees, blood trailing from the corner of his mouth. His mother, Empress Han Yuyan, had been bound in soul-suppressing chains of black iron. But Li Kaien, the Crown Prince of Yuehua did not kneel. Even as a hundred armored soldiers of Chiyan surrounded him and the ancestral qi of their bloodline was sealed by forbidden cursed talismans. He refused to bow to such a disgusting vicious man. “No!” he said through clenched teeth, blood trickling down his brow. “I will only bow to the heavens, and never to thieves like you. You don’t deserve it.” His mother’s voice was hoarse with panic. “Kaien, no! Just do as he says please..” Everyone knew of his ruthlessness but Kaien would rather die than submit to him. He stood strong even though he was severely injured. Emperor Rong descended from the throne that once belonged to his father. He walked like a god, his crimson robes swept the shattered floor. He took one step at a time. It was filled with both authority and power. He stopped before Kaien. His eyes filled with murderous intent, it was clear he didn’t like being defied. “Actions,” he said slowly, “have consequences.” Then without warning he stepped forward and crushed Kaien’s father’s hand beneath his feet. Crack. “FATHER!” Kaien surged forward, but four guards slammed him down. His qi was suppressed. His werewolf bloodline, the Moonfang Spirit, was sealed by a binding rune that was forced into his chest. Rong Zhen’s lips curled into a mocking grin. He unsheathed a black-forged saber filled with heavenly fire. Then Schhk. Kaien’s father’s hands fell to the ground. Severed. Still moving a bit due to muscle retention. “This,” he said coldly, “is the price of disobedience.” Kaien’s knees trembled. The fury in his chest was volcanic. But still, he did not kneel. He wanted to rip his heart into shreds. But he barely had any power left. “Kaien, please,” his mother cried out to him. “Before he does much worse than this.” He raised the saber again. Kaien didn’t care about dying but he didn’t want to hurt the ones he loved the most. So he threw his pride away and knelt. “I submit,” he whispered, his voice trembling. But it came too late. A scream pierced the air. “Xiao Lian!” She’d thrown herself between him and the incoming sword. Lian’er!!!! his maid since childhood. His friend. His protector. The blade sliced straight through her chest. She collapsed into his arms, her blood soaking into his royal robe. She smiled so gently at him, still trying to reach for his face as she was dying. “Don’t blame yourself, promise me that you won’t. I…. It’s an honor to die for you, my crown prince.” She said and then lost consciousness. He held her tightly, refusing to let go.“I I knelt…” he choked. “I already knelt!” You “Why? Why did you still—” Rong Zhen didn’t answer. He calmly wiped his blade clean on the robes of a nearby guard, as if the blood was an irritating thing to him. Then he walked over to Kaien slowly and then he knelt down until they were face to face. “So much hatred,” he whispered, gripping Kaien’s jaw with his cold fingers. “Do you wish to kill me? Do you so badly want to make me pay for everything I’ve done to you and your family?” Kaien glared at him with rage. He wanted to do that so much right at that moment. Rong Zhen smirked. “What can you do? Your wolf is chained. And your flame is dim. You’re just a caged cub. If you really want to hate someone, hate Wei Lan for her betrayal. I mean if she didn’t feed you all with the elixir of moonsign. How would I be able to easily crush you all?” He turned without another word and walked back toward the throne. As he reached the final step and sat back down, Princess Rong Mei rose gracefully from her seat. Her voice came out, cold and detached. “Father, I’m tired of watching this boring spectacle. Can I leave now?” Kaien’s vision narrowed. She reduced his entire family’s suffering and his dead people to a boring spectacle. His fists were balled into fists. Her father gave her a slight nod of approval. Then she began to descend from the dais. She even yawned a bit. But as she passed beside him— Kaien lunged at her. He slashed his claws across her flawless face. A long red gash bloomed on her flawless cheek. The injuries made by the claws of a werewolf were only curable by the werewolf that left the mark. He hated her so much at that moment but since he couldn’t directly kill her, that’s what he could do temporarily to avenge the humiliation of her words to his people. She screamed loudly, holding her face in pain. Qi surged around him then shattered him. Another burning talisman lit across his spine, and he fell. He could hear his mother’s voice breaking. His father was in total silence. His head was still bent down towards the floor. Guards tore him from the hall like he was filth. Then as the darkness claimed him, he heard her voice. The princess’s voice. “Make him suffer,” she whispered. “I’ll carve Yuehua’s name from this world.”Latest Chapter
Chapter 170: Moon Empire
From the depth of the Castle, where all seem to be quiet like a graveyard; like still waters, untouched by the unsteady hands of the wind—came pouring a sound that tore through the silence. "KAIEN!!!" Coming to a halt along the way was none other Yeon. She was still within the castle walls. She wasn't beneath the castle grounds with Seojun or perhaps, she never was. "Seojun?" she said with a gasp and broke into a sprint. Fortunately, Kaien heard the cry of anguish. He turned his head towards the direction of the castle with a puzzled expression on his face. "Seojun?" He didn't waste time staying in the arena, with the commotion that was already happening; it was more or less an opportunity to get out of there. The prince noticed this and immediately stopped the announcer from talking any further and got up. Kaien bolted past the large double doors of the castle with damning speed. Yeon on the other hand was trying to trace seojun's voice but she couldn't pinpoint whe
Chapter 169: Damning Speed
Bajin Bu crashed into the walls which in return, cracked momentarily like glass, another impact and it would definitely come crumbling. Kaien remained where he stood. He looked like he was caught in-between a trance-like state. His hand stretched forward with intent. It would seem like his hand being locked in that position was the cause of Bajin Bu's devastating impact with the walls. Everyone's expression got tainted immediately with unspeakable fear. Did the so-called iron king just fall from a single touch from Kaien? Smokes whirled up into the invisible vacuum of the clear blue skies at rapid pace as it revealed a figure standing a few feet away from the gargantuan crack made in the arena. The figure was a man, and the man was Bajin Bu. "Boy!" His cold void swept the arena like a Shockwave but Kaien remained unmoved, only the edges of his clothing danced to the wave that permeated him "Striking when I'm not ready is fowl play!" Bajin Bu thundered, his voice enca
Chapter 168: Intent
Kaien's expression didn't flatter. He didn't even pay attention to Zhao khan's words. He said he'd kill Kaien by himself when they met. Kaien never thought of it, why wasn't he moved by the word—death? "Are you done?" His words caught Zhao Kan off guard after a minute of silence: Did this boy turn a deaf ear to my words? After all, from the first day they met, it was evident that Kaien had the upper hand and could have ended the sky sect in seconds if no one had intervened. When he looked down at Zhao Kan, he noticed the man was lost in awe. Perhaps he was expecting Kaien to jump in fright or rather throw a fit or something. Kaien didn't bother with him and left the pew. Zhao Kan could watch him exit the arena and then, his hand gripped the hilt of his sword before he could process the thought, how disturbing. Just then, Zhao Kan grumbled inwardly at the thought of Kaien's composure. "Can I face him? Maybe I am imagining things. He's not even worried! it's like he doesn
Chapter 167: Sternly
The Royal Selection Festival was introduced years ago by the Emperor of the Hwan Empire. Solely to choose one of its winners and grace them with privileges of the Hwan Empire. This act had progressed over the years with rules that remained untethered. Until today. The blade came again at an aggressive pace. Luckily, Kaien had rolled out of the way just in time to witness the deathly impact of the fan. If he hadn't, the blade would have probably diced one part of his body. Kaien sighed with resignation of observing the blade and focused solely on the person that was benefiting from it—Lady Umni Loo. "Are you getting tired, my love?" She closed the gap desperately and engaged in combat with Kaien. Her hands connected with his blocking elbows, pushing her back which startled her. She almost lost balance which earned Kaien the advantage to sweep her off the ground before throwing his gaze back at the blade. It rose and flung itself at him at a speed that could tear a hole in spa
Chapter 166: Taken Aback
Icicles smeared the face of the arena at a rapid pace. It kept on shooting vigorously at all angles but a blur moved in between like lighting. Kaien skillfully evaded every single icicle. He moved like an untethered ball. He closed the gap between him and the dome after minutes of evading the icicles. The cultivator behind the dome shrunk with abject fear the moment his gaze caught cracks inundating his cover. CRACK! Kaien punched his way through like a train, breaking the entire dome like it was nothing. After all, it's just ice. The cultivator rolled to a stop and dragged himself up then tugged his body backwards as Kaien descended, his ear picking up the racing heartbeat of the Cultivator. "Yield." Kaien told him before he began approaching the Cultivator, his menacing glare prompted the Cultivator to drown in abnormal fear as he immediately yelled. "I yield!" The first battle was over and it earned a lot of talking from everyone. Kaien appeared in everyone's sentence.
Chapter 165: Imitating Skills
"Imitating skills? That's cool!" Seojun's excitement was evident."Remember, you can't imitate all skills. There's a limit, which is why you're at the second tier of the Dual Moon Pathway," Kaien reminded him. "Once you imitate a skill, you can only use it temporarily. No skill stays with you forever.""What about you, Uncle Kaien?" Seojun asked. "I've never seen you imitate anything.""That's because I don't bother unless it's necessary," Kaien explained, sitting on the grass. "Imitating skills at a higher tier is considered wasting the knowledge you've gained at that level. When you ascend tiers, you're supposed to leave the old skills behind and focus on what's ahead. They don't disappear, but you've outgrown them."Seojun nodded, thinking it over."Not many cultivators come from the Dual Moon Pathway," Kaien continued. "So make the best of it while you're young. The older you get, the more tiers you'll climb." He paused. "You'll change a lot.""So I can't imitate other Dual Moon c
