As Cristian predicted, the group caved in within a day. Considering that none of them had ever experienced hardship in their entire life, it would have been more shocking if they could stand their ground. The moment he let them out of the dimensional space, they stared at him with a mixture of hate and fear.
“I think you all learned your lesson, but if you need a reminder, I can always send you back there,” he remarked, causing nearly the entire group to shake their heads frantically.
“We’re good,” Brayan said.
“What he said,” Aidan said.
“Then I expect you to bring me the five million in cash within the hour,” Cristian said, petting Fenrir on the head.
The group sputtered before Katie blurted out, “Are you crazy? How are we supposed to get five million in cash in just an hour?”
Without batting an eye, Cristian sent her back to the dimensional space. Jeanine screamed, nearly fainting, as she scrambled away from the empty spot Katie had once stood.
“Any other objections?” Cristian asked.
“No,” the group answered.
“Then you better get moving,” he said.
In an instant, they ran. Jagger was the last to move, giving Cristian a dark look before chasing after the rest of the group. He watched with dark satisfaction as they scurried like the rats they were.
[It seems that your plan is working, but how are you so sure they won’t bring reinforcements to deal with you?]
“Oh, they will, but I still have Katie in my grasp,” he said, checking up on her in the dimensional space.
[So it wasn’t a coincidence that you had sent her back to the dimensional space?]
“The two leaders of the group are Jagger and Katie, though Jagger is the one who takes the lead most of the time. They’re both from somewhat wealthy families and are dating each other with plans to have a marriage alliance. I’m going to take advantage of that,” Cristian said.
Katie was shouting and cursing a storm before breaking down in tears. She couldn’t believe she was being reduced to tears because of a weakling, but could she really call him that when he could do something like this? Was he even human?
“Can I have your attention?” Cristian asked, making her flinch.
She glared up at the ceiling and snapped, “Let me out.”
“Rude. Maybe I should keep you there for another day,” he threatened.
Her face paled, and she immediately said, “I’m sorry. Please let me out.”
“That’s much better, but I’m afraid I can’t do that,” he said.
Katie nearly pulled at her hair as she demanded, “Why? We promised to give you the money.”
“To make sure your group keeps their word, I told them I will keep you until I see the money,” he replied.
“What? There’s no way they would abandon me,” she insisted.
“Sorry to burst your bubble, but they already left. I can prove it to you,” he said before pulling her out again.
She stumbled and nearly fell face-first but managed to catch herself in time. That’s when she saw that it really was just the two of them. The rest of the group was nowhere in sight. Seeing the disbelieving look on her face, Cristian smirked.
“I told you. They left you in my hands, so you better hope they keep their word. Now it’s time for you to go back,” he said, preparing to send her back into the dimensional space.
“Wait! Don’t send me back!” Kaite said, getting down on her knees to plead.
Watching her grovel before him was like a drug. He wanted more. He wanted her to suffer more for what she put him through in the last life. It would be easy to deal with her now that she was weak and alone. She wouldn’t be able to resist.
Cristian snapped out of it and said, “Give me a reason.”
“I can pay you more money,” she said.
“I thought you said five million was too difficult,” he said, adjusting his grip on Fenrir.
“I mean I can get you more money on top of the five million, so please just let me go,” she begged, bowing her head to him.
He took a moment to consider her offer. More money would be great, but he wasn’t dumb enough to blindly trust her. She probably planned to get backup the moment she was out of his sight. It seemed there was only one solution.
“Fine, but I’ll come with you,” Cristian said.
Katie snapped her head up, her eyes nearly popping out of the sockets. “What?”
“You’re still my hostage. Letting you leave my sight would be foolish. That’s why I’ll come with you to get the money,” he said.
This wasn’t going as planned. Katie had intended to run home to her parents and get them to help her get revenge on Cristian. Actually, now that she thought about it, this was better. Once he was on her home turf, he wouldn’t stand a chance.
Putting on a pitiful expression, she said, “Okay. Whatever you want, just don’t hurt me.”
Cristian signaled for her to move and said, “Lead the way.”
She led him to her house, inwardly cackling with glee. He was going to get his just deserts. However, she was completely unaware that Cristian had already predicted what was going through her mind and was already formulating a plan to deal with it.
With his dimensional space, he could try pulling the same stunt again before Katie had time to warn her family. Once he had her parents as hostages, the family would have to listen to his demands. Depending on how things worked out, he might be labeled a criminal to the public, but his reputation was already in the dumps anyway. It wouldn’t really make a difference, especially with the apocalypse coming up. Who would have time to chase a criminal when they will be struggling to survive the apocalypse? No, he was going to milk this for all it was worth.

Chapter 15: The Sellers Family (6)
Katie cursed, digging through her closet to find any old devices she might still have. Clothes were haphazardly tossed aside as she frantically searched for a phone or a laptop. Anything that would allow her to contact the outside world. She couldn’t believe her mother would confiscate her phone and other devices to keep her from contacting anyone. Hadn’t she seen how much of a monster Cristian was? There was no way he was going to let them live once he got everything he wanted from them. They had to call for help before it was too late.As she shoved a box aside, she heard something fall out and make a thud sound. A quick look revealed it was an old phone, and she snatched it up triumphantly. Her relief soon turned to dismay when she realized it wouldn’t turn on no matter what she pressed. The battery must have died after being left unused for so long in her closet. She had to find the charger for it.“Damn it,” she muttered to herself, searching through the box it fell out of.After

Katie’s knees finally gave out, and she collapsed to the ground. A horrible smell filled the air, and Cristian stepped back to avoid the puddle forming underneath her.“Katie!” Mrs. Sellers rushed forward to her daughter’s side, acting as a shield to protect her daughter. However, he was no longer paying any attention to them. His eyes were drawn to the blue text box that had appeared out of the corner of his vision.[The user has obtained a new ability and can exert an overwhelming presence that can paralyze those weaker than the user.]Cristian stared at the blue text incredulously before looking at Fenrir. The wolf didn’t bat an eye and even yawned at him. He raised an eyebrow and was tempted to ask right then and there if this meant he now had aura. Just thinking about it made him huff in amusement before turning his attention back to the cowering women.Given Katie’s reaction and the text box’s appearance, he had somehow used the power on her. However, it didn’t sound that great
Chapter 13: The Sellers Family (4)
The two women stared anxiously at Cristian, fearing what he intended to do with them. He combed a hand through his hair, berating himself for being softhearted.Cristian had intended only to grab Mrs. Sellers while keeping Mr. Sellers and Katie as hostages. It was the most reasonable option. He needed an adult to get the money, and Mr. Seller hadn’t been a choice from the beginning, as Cristian expected the man to try to save only his own skin. The man would likely choose to abandon his wife and child if it benefited him, but Cristian never expected him to be so ruthless, trying to kill them while trapped in the dimensional space.Just thinking about it enraged him, and Cristian placed Fenrir down as he stood up to kick the couch he had been sitting on. The women screamed and huddled close, refusing to look him in the face.“Stop that. I won’t hit you as long as you don’t try anything funny,” he said, sitting back down onto the armrest of the couch to avoid sitting on Fenrir.“Why sho
Chapter 12: The Sellers Family (3)
Katie sniffled, still feeling the burning sting of her father’s slap on her cheek. She couldn’t believe her father had slapped her. He had never raised a hand against her before. She had always been the apple of his eye, yet he had dared to slap her after she told him everything. If it weren’t for her mother, she was sure that her father would have hit her again.Just thinking about the reason for her father’s anger made her grit her teeth in frustration. The hand not touching her cheek curled into a fist as she imagined strangling Cristian with her bare hands. She was going to make him pay for this humiliation. He was going to regret ever crossing her and her family. Once they got out of this place, she was going to summon her beast like she should have from the start and let it tear him apart. Then she’ll turn that small wolf at his side into a new rug for her mother.“Well, isn’t this an interesting sight. It seems there’s a bit of family trouble going on here.” Cristian’s voice ec
Chapter 11: The Sellers Family (2)
Cristian ducked behind the nearby couch while Fenrir hid under a table to avoid the peacock’s ice attack. The icicles skewered the spot they had been standing before, tearing up the rug. He stared at the collection of large icicles the size of his arm before peeking around the corner of the couch. Mrs. Sellers and Katie appeared behind the peacock with dark expressions.“My rug!” Mrs. Sellers wailed, cupping her cheeks with her hands.“Where’s dad?” Katie asked, scanning the room.He narrowed his eyes as he prepared to pull them into the dimensional space. That’s when a floating blue text box appeared in his vision.[The targets are not within range. Please move closer to the target.]Cristian nearly cursed aloud as he glared daggers at the text. Why was there suddenly a distance restriction? How close did he need to be in order to pull them into the dimensional space?[Targets need to be within three feet of the user in order to be placed in the dimensional space.]Three feet was pre
Chapter 10: The Sellers Family (1)
“We’re here,” Katie said as they stood in front of the driveway to her home.Cristian took a moment to study the place. It was an impressive house with three stories and two fancy cars parked in the driveway. He was certain that the backyard was just as impressive, but it didn’t matter much in the end. What he was after was the money, not the property. Even if he somehow got his hands on the deed, there was no way he could sell it before the apocalypse started.“Before we go in, I want to make something clear,” he said, resting a hand on her shoulder. She shuddered before tentatively asking, “What?”“You are not to let them know about what happened between us. If I see any hint that you might sell me out…” he trailed off, letting her fill in the blank.Katie gritted her teeth and said, “I understand.”“Good. Now ladies first,” he said, indicating for her to go first. She glared at him before walking down the driveway to the front door. Katie rang the doorbell, and the door swung open.
